Selecting A Random Button And Modifying Its Text?

I am making a game of tic tac toe, and I have 9 buttons lined up in a grid pattern. I want to select a random button for the computer to start the game from.
I have an array set up with all the names of my buttons, and I was thinking of picking a random entry from that array to start working from. This I have done fine, but I cannot change the text of a button. My code:

as you can see, I can't simply do StartPoint.Text = "O", even thought StartPoint holds the name for the button.

Basically what I'm trying to do is to get the program to select a text string that has 2 random numbers in it from a RichTextBox. The string it would find would be similar to this:"items_win.php?item_id=24&item_number=590576"But the bolded section changes every time the page is refreshed, so how can i find the string with the numbers every time no matter what they are?

Im making a text based game that i need to randomly select different numbers of lines from a text file then pass them to a list box. The text file is made in the following format:
20058,v,o,ED,95
20059,v,o,TI,95
20060,v,o,TI,95
20061,v,o,SL,95
First the code needes to identify the 4th element then randomly select lines from lines that contain that element. Im stuck on how to randomly select lines from that list.This is the code i have so far.

The problem I have is I have made a program which you select a value from a combobox and it changes the value of a url for a picturebox and thus changes the picture, I also have a button which randomizes all of the comboboxes so I will get something unique, but every time the program loads, and I hit random, it chooses the same numbers in order. If you need an example, when I press random the first time I get the number 7 for my first combobox, so the selected index=7, every time I load the program and press random it picks 7 for that combobox.

I'm am trying to determine the total number of fields under a particular heading given that the other Heading's total number of fields are > or < than the heading in question. The query, shown first in the attached code, works well if there is one column in one database table, however it does not work well when there are a number of columns with a different number of fields respectively. The CategoriesID encompasses the entire tables contents.I devised a function to determine the total number of fields within a particular column and then attempted to incorporate this, without success, into the second query, shown in the code.

I am new to programming, so I am looking for somewhere to start with this project.What My project needs to do, is that the user inserts data consisting of multiple lines (up to thousands of lines) Into a text box of any type.When a button is clicked on it goes through the lines and alters lines based on what it starts with.

Clicking the button would cause every line with DDE at the beginning to be deleted, while leaving everything else intact.I'm not just looking for handouts, I do want to learn. I just to know what to look at to do this.

i want to create a html editor. to get started, i want the app to be able to find certain words, and change the font/color/size/etc. as for <a href=""><b> and so on, without changing the rest of the text after the selected text was modified. i'm sure that it has something to do with RichTextBox1_TextChanged for text that is being typed and just a button click for modifying selected text.

I am new in programing and I need some help setting the Enabled = True on a botton when selecting an item from a listbox.I have a project when I have and add a new record form and an edit record form, in the form I have added a listbox where displaying the name of the file that I am attaching, but I have also added a delete button on the form, When I load the form I have the delete button disabled:

I want to select a button("Exit") on the ToolStrip after pressing a button ("ButtonFocus To Exit") outside the toolstrip. I used ExitToolStripButton.Select() on ButtonFocusToExit.Click but which seems like its selecting the button ("Exit") but when i pressed enter it never execute the code in "ExitToolStripButton_Click" .
So the button is still not active. Can anyone have fix to it?

while using VS 2008 SP1 for VB WinForm apps (on Win 7 Ultimate machine),I find that while the performance of VS 2008 is on the slow side, it is generally tolerable except for one thing: when selecting an image for a button, the "Select Resource" dialog will come up, and I choose "local resource", then Import. After navigating to the appropriate folder and selecting the desired image,I will almost always get the "hourglass" (now the blue whirly thing),and only after several seconds will the operation complete(i.e. the "Select Resource" dialog will show the image I selected,and then I can close it and be on my merry way). Typically while the whirly thing is going, the dialog box title will say "Select Resource (Not Responding)". Also on some occasions during the wait period, the Select Resource dialog will hide, and I will have to click the VS icon in the taskbar to make it reappear so the operation can complete.

The List Box has three candidates and a record Button. Every time the record button is hit I need it to add those button clicks for each candidate that is selected in the List Box. My code keeps counting all the clicks no matter which candidate I am selecting in the List Box. How can I differentiate between each selected item in the List Box.

I got a Combobox with some items (item1-item7) to select and 54ish Buttons(sButton1-sButton54). Also an array(53) called Buttons. The array is filled with the items to select, like: Buttons(0) = "item 1, item 2" Everytime another item in the Combobox is selected, I'd like only some of the Buttons to change their Image. Therefore I got the array. If Item 1 is selected and Buttons(0) contains the item1 I'd like to change the Button1's image.edit: It works with changing the image of every Button:
sButton1.Image = My.Resources.image1
But I'd prefer to change all in one go (Loop) instead.
sButton(0) = "item1, item2, item3"
sButton(1) = "item2, item3"
sButton(2) = "item1, item3"

I have two RichTextBoxes in my vb.net application (rtf1 & rtf2). rtf1 is loaded with the external data. Mostly It contains para split into different sections. The paragraph is a dynamic data, hence the no. of words keep on changing. Now my question is that, I want to select a para from the cluster, copy it and paste it into rtf2.

Here only i could find the starting position and length. without knowing the ending postion, i couldnot specify the number of characters. how to select "para content goes here is a multiline" only from the [para content goes here is a multiline]?
Actually the contents of Rtf1 is in the .txt format. But I knew only
My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("xyx.txt")
so, if i can select the para in the .txt file before reading it into rtf1, it will be more useful.

I am developing a search tool for my company. I got the searching to work and the results to append to a text box. I need to be able to click on the line in the text box and then open adobe or do etc. I can't figure out how to make the text box "selectable" I guess you could call it. Is there another way to do this or am I just missing a property?

I have encountered a small issue with coding a portion of my Visual Basic program. In my program, I have a variable that contains text data. I would like to be able to select certain text in the variable and place it into a textbox.
For example, my variable is called strCallInfo.
strCallInfo contains the following value:
Address: 123 Law Rd
Location Info: Carbon Police Department

Note that the values in the textboxes are equal to values in the string variable. The only problem I am encountering is how to sort the string and place certain values into specific text boxes.

I'm using VB (visual studio) 2008. I'm trying to search a microsoft word file and select/copy text from it What i want to do
a. Search for a string/word in a text document(i.e "question)
b. When its found copy of text from that point to a point further down the document defined by a certain string ("a.")
c. after this is done it will continue to look for the next time the same string occurs (i.e. "question"") and continue as above?
I've figured out how to search for the word (question) but not managed to figure out the rest of it. Heres the code so far
