Service Install Location And Vbscript?

i was wondering where visual studio install package actually installs a service. I have a vbscript that is suppose to start my service with the code below but it can't seem to find the service or can't start it.

My other question is, is there a way to throw two VBscripts into a vb service install package and have the scripts installed onto a local folder and then set two GPO's (User Logon and User Logoff) to run the two scripts?

I am a starter in scripting. So my scripts are as easy as you see.
The following script is to check currently stopped services, which are "auto start" by default.
You just need to creat "C:hostnames.txt". Then type the servers that you want to be checked, every line one hostname.
Run "Check services.vbs".

'the below just creates a text file for my own sanity. Both files get 'created so I know the service is running as it should and not crashing. 'timer ticks every minute so if I delete the files once they have been 'created, they get recreated

I've created a windows service and started a deployment project for it. I have the project installer class in the service project and I've added the "Standard output etc.." from the service project as custom actions for the Deployment Project. When I attempt to install it, I get the error "Specified service already exists", which shouldn't happen (even though the service does exist) because the installer should be removing the old service and installing the new one.
I've checked that the versions are different, and that the Product Code is also different, also RemovePreviousVersions is set to true. Dev/Usr Environment info: I am using VB Express '08 and SQL Express '05 for my applications in a corporate networking environment and the users will be installing from a network share drive. I have tested this and it works fine, just the location seems to be undesirable.

In the past I have written VB6 and VB NET 2005 programs that are installed and on the user's computer. This had to be done because the salesmen in our company have has a set of local data on their laptops so that they could do work and not be connected to our network. I would then sync the files when they connected to the network. (This same program is used by the rest of the company as well, but everyone else uses network data.)We are now at the point where we are not using any local data. Our salesmen access our network data using an iPad, VPN, and a Citrix server, which works fine

I have developed a Windows service. During the installation, I get the following warning/error:�Cannot start service from the command line or debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the Server Explorer, Windows Service Administrative tools or the NET start command.�
I am not trying to start it. I am only installing it (right-click from setup project). The StartType is set to Manual, and the Service Process Installer account is set to User. I do not get prompted for the service login credentials.I am using Visual Studio 2005, VB.Net running on Windows Server 2003 SP2.

I have a service I have written in VB.NET In the past I have always done the installs (internal app), so I have the install set to User, and when I do:
InstallUtil "C:MyService.exe"
It prompts me for the Account and Password, and I am using the local administrator (.administrator)I am setting up an installation script now that the user's can just run to install, and I don't want to give them the administrator password. Is there a silent way to include the user/password in the command line?

My freeware program launches 50 freeware programs and provides a guide for PC maintenance and health. As mentioned in another post, my program was reviewed on Sofpedia. One thing the Reviewer criticized was the fact that my program requires the user to install these 50 programs in the default locations (usually C:Program Filesx). The reviewer thinks it would be best if the user can install to any location he/she desires and my program be able to point to the proper location when launching the application.

I created a small project in VB using a SQLExpress db. So far everything has been fine. I need to take the little I've done to the customer for a look and feel approval.
When attempting to publish the project, I get the following errors:
"The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendor's web site' and the file...." You know the drill.
The two files are SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.EXE and SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.EXE
I have downloaded the files and put them in the following directory:

What's different about SqlExpress than other prerequisites?

I created a VB.NET Service application and I have decided to install it on my computer using installutils.exe. After building the application, I open the SDK framework command line and ran the following command:

I've been following a tutorial on [url]...for creating a service using VB Express 2008. I got the first part working and managed to get the sample to install using InstallUtil, but the second part has you use a form with buttons to install and uninstall the service.
I'm wondering if there are instructions for installing the service from a command line so I could just change to a specific subdirectory and type "myservice /i" to install it or /u to uninstall it.

I have been struggling to get vbscript working for last three days of relentless effort. I have windows 7 ultimate and upgraded from windows vista. searched the web for solutions and tried out all the options I think I have, but yet no luck.
I tried registering vbscript.dll and I get a succeeded message back. Everything seems to be fine. but, I just cannot run vbscript on my computer. It complains that "can't find script engine vbscript for script ....". I have a hunch that it is something to do with "microsfot security essentials (my virus protection software)" or with UAC.

I am trying add the prerequisites with my setup i have set the prerequisites download location to the same whwere my application is and now i am getting this type of several errors.

I've been busy with work and other bits and bobs and not really had much time for programming... but anyway, I have just written a fairly simple windows service in VB.NET and although I can install it on my PCs/servers using the command line InstallUtil.exe component, this isnt ideal for other people that may need to install it without my assistance.
So basically I just need to know how to get a normal Setup and Deployment VS project to install this service itself... I thought it would be as simple as selecting the service assembly to include in the deployment project and building it, but unfortunately that seems to do naff all. Do I need to use a 'Custom Action' in the setup project (and if so, how/what do I do?)

I need to install a windows service via an .msi for many tablets which is nooooo problem. The problem is, the tablets currently have the service running which was installed by installutil.
