i have a problem with SetEnviroment function in VB.net. i have a small program created with vb.net and want to communicate with batch file changing the environment variables but as I mentioned in the below sample code is not running clear and while run.bat is running there is no effect inside batch file What might be the problem?

View 9 Repliesi know how to shell an existing batch file with shell, however, the code inside the batch i want to change depending on a certain variable,so is there a way i can write a textfile and save it as a .bat then run it, and delete it after, so the user does not really ever see the .bat file (so it seemingly looks like the program itself is running the commands)

View 1 RepliesI have this problem in VB.NET in c#, I have this project where I need to run a batch file, which is easy enough. But my problem is I need to display everything that shows up on the batch file, in the cmd window, in a textbox, now, this code opens the file no problem:

but it doesn't move the code over to the textbox, this code transfers the last displayed line, but not the entire thing of the batch file and it also closes the cmd window, i need it to stay open:

the batch file is for a server, it displays the amt of users on it (updates ever 2 minutes) and shows different events taken by the users. so it is constantly updating.

Not sure if there is a better way to do this but this isn't working. Just trying to run a batch command "query session" and put it into a text file using "> sessions.txt". When I run this command in a command prompt it works fine and spits the output to the text. I've tried just making the batch file in the same folder and executing that with Process.Start, still empty text file. Tried modifying the loop and no go also

I am busy writing a application that i can set up a list of files to copy from one location to a remote network drive.
THe program has a list of "jobs" in a datagrid that it loops through and executes in sequence. What i have now is a background worker that reports the status of which job it is on (File 1 of 5) but i would like something that shows the status of the current copying file as sometimes large files can look like it's stopped on the network
I am using the System.io.file.copy structure, but have also tried the my.computer.filesystem.copyfile (which shows the status in a "windows" copy box)
So, what i would like is some guidance on how to create a function that will copy the file but also report back progress periodicly. I don't want to read and write byte for byte as im worried this will be too slow.
Also, is there a better way/function to use to copy files? Looking for best speed
I have been asked to develop a solution which send to the default printer a list of files stored in a directory in file name sequence. These files maybe of any type - such as pdf or Office documents.
I have seen suggestions to using a process class (such as [URL]..However, the process would run largely unmonitored so I have concerns with regards to being able to control the submission of the numerous jobs to the printer and, for example, stopping the print should there be a failureerror in the print queue.

(So they can no longer be edited.)So far I've only found one program that does this (And was made in Visual Studios) and the program doesn't even actually work due to some unknown error. I have created tool which performs batch processing on files that are selected. The sub routine I have defined in the code, now I want to implement a way through which I can select actions that I want to perform and then perform the actions. For example the list has multiple actions, like Open, Close, SaveAs, Resize, Color Correct etc. I should be able to select what all I want to do on each file and then perform this actions. Someone suggested me using delegates for this, but I cant use that since all my functions have different parameters. Ither option I had is to use a nested IfElse or Switch to determine which action is selected and call function according to it, but thats to heavy I think, is there any optimized a better way to do this.???

But it would be hand to have indicator or text on button stating the status.

I'm making a program that takes common applications and installs them silently using batch files. Someone would select the programs they would want to install and my program will write a giant batch file and execute it to install whatever they want. Heres the problem, After the user selects the programs they go into either one or two lists. Non Silent Installer List Or Silent installer list.
Some programs I have simply won't go silently so from there they can choose in what order they want to install these programs. Then there is a combo box that tells weather you want to install non silent programs first or last. From there you hit add to batch file and it would add everything in listbox1 and listbox2 in order. Listbox1 would contain just the text "MalwareBytes" for example. Along with Novell Groupwise and Firefox. How do I get that to add to the Batch List as a code and in order? So the user wants Malware bytes added first to the batch file. How do I add that to my batch list as a completely different code?

What I'm wanting to do is gonna sound pretty strange. I play a game called Wonderland Online. Usually while playing, I will have between 3-4 instances of the game going at the same time, each instance running a different character. Also, I will have open another program that I wrote that helps me figure out what I need to manufacture a certain item in the game. The running game is an 800x600 window, and I have all 5 of these windows open at once, where I am constantly moving things around, minimizing and maximizing.I want to create a app that would basically be a frame for the game. Creating the frame would not be hard, but this is the first time I have tried to get an external EXE to basically run inside of my program. Is this even possible? And if so, I would imagine I could run multiple EXEs and flip between them inside my frame. I could integrate my manufacturing program into the frame, as well as control which instance of the game is visible inside the frame.

i don't know what else do do, it just wont recognize the control name when im writing the event signature, right after the "handles" keyword, comes the server control name and then a dot, and then the event name, but as events its just giving me "Me", "MyBase" and "MyClass" options to run events for... doesn't let me access "FileUpload.OnFileUploaded" which is the control name & event name i want to write the sub routine method declaration (and subsequently method) and signature for.

1- How do I define the drive letter of this USB stick.
2- How do I run the x:Setup.exe program without exiting the VB2008? The install process should begin after click of a button.
3- Would Autorun work on USB drives to run the program automaticaly?
4- How do I compile to make a single EXE file at the end?
