Setting Index Value To Any Object?

Sep 5, 2009

I am new to .net and am wondering what Index is in .net. In vb6 I could set a index value to any object and then duplicate them and use the same code. Does .net have something like this?

Setting Selected Index On DataGridView Combobox?

Oct 13, 2008

I can't seem to set the selected index or selected value of a DataGridView combobox when loading data from a database. My DGV has two combobox columns which are bound to datatables. The DGV itself is not bound initially. After adding a row, I select a value from each combobox which then populates the rest of the cells in the row. I'm using the EditingControlShowing event to add an eventhandler to catch the SelectedIndexChange of the combo boxes. This all works as needed. My issue comes when populating the DGV with saved data, I need to add the rows and set the selected index and/or selected value of each combo box. I've searched through various forums and articles for the last week with no luck.

I'm using VS2008 sp1, .NET 3.5 sp1 and SQL 2005 sp2 Express.

Searching For Index Of Object In Array?

Jan 30, 2012

I'm trying to search an object array for a particular object and return the index. g always ends up being -1 even though I'm expecting it to be 0. What am I missing?

Private Sub btnX1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnX1.Click
Dim g As SByte = Array.IndexOf(buttons, sender)
MsgBox("If worked: " & g, MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "Test")
End Sub
dim buttons() as object = {btnX1, btnX2, btnX3}

Basically, I'm trying to design a function that can get the index of an element from one object array and use that to grab an element from a different array at that same index.

Asp.net - Setting The Focus To A MsgBox Object?

It's been hit or miss, but occasionally, this MsgBox will load behind the browser rather than be the center of attention with focus. How can I stop this from happening?

Iterate Through The Keys And Values Collections Of A Dictionary Object Using An Index?

Apr 25, 2009

I have a VB.NET project where I am able to iterate through the keys and values collections of a dictionary object using an index:

MyDictionary.Keys(idx)
MyDictionary.Values(idx)

When this code is taken from the test project and placed into the real project I get the following error:

'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary(Of Double, String).KeyCollection' cannot be indexed because it has no default property.[code]...

In the line in sub search that says "dtf.Keys(idx) = 0" place your cursor after the right parenthesis and backspace you should get a tooltip that says, "<Extension> ElementAtOrDefault(index as Integer) as Double - index: the zero based element of the index to retrieve.

However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

Unable To Cast Object Of Type X To Type X On Setting DataSource To A Table?

Feb 19, 2012

Columns 0 & 1 are filled from a DataAdapter from Access Database and three are added. I had this working, but I changed it to check for the column "Feed" so I could add several Locations. At first this worked, but I did someething in perfecting it and it now fails after filling the first row of the datagridview (dgvFdMed).I ran a check and the table LotsTab has 8 rows filled. Column 1 & 2 are strings and the database appears they are fine. The added columns have just been created with no value. My plan is to enter the values and then use the data from the grid.

Comparing Array Index To Combo Box Index?

I am coding a program for a movie trivia game that randomly shows a movie quote and the the user selects a movie name from a combo box that matches. I used a array for the movie quotes and a comboBox for the movie names. I have coded a portion of the program but I am stuck on how to compare the array quote being shown to what movie the user selects from the comboBox. I have tried numerous different things but none seem to work right. The way I have it coded now it shows that every movie I pick that it is right even if it is wrong. I am going to show part of the code here and also attach the entire solution for anyone that needs it .
