Oct 5, 2011
I have windows application in .net framework 4. I want to display PDF file in PDF Viewer Control. I tried to user AxInterop.AcroPDFLib.dll (provided by Adobe), but as my application runs on 64 bit, it gives exception at run time.

How to remove any applications in taskmanager using vb.net windows application. In taskmanager application tab application is not remove.but process is remove.
Is there a .Net control I can use to display a web page from a vb.Net windows forms application?
I am writing an app that will produce a slide show from a specified directory. The idea is it will ideally include Images, Video clips (via Windows Media), URL's (held in a text file), PDF documents and power point presentations.
Images and media clips aren't an issue. At present I am looking at displaying specified web pages. I am aware that I can use
to open a browser window, but I want control of that as after a specified amount of time it needs to close so I can display the next image (media clip, url etc).
I would like to create a tabular view of my data in which i would like to show dates as column header and room no as rows header. And room reservation data in that tabular form. I would also like to make date zooming from year, half yearly, month, week to day. Denote the reserved room in some color along with name too.
To my requirement, i found windows live mail's calendar control abit matching without zooming functionality.
Here is a sample of windows live mail's control: [URL]
I would like to get reference/example of control/project matching my requirement.
I'm using the web browser control in vs2005 to show a web page which has flash. somehow, it shows error:"this program requires flash.ocx which is no longer included in this version windows".
I have a need to open 10+ Unix windows and run 5 or 6 commands on each window. I would like to set up a VB application with a menu so that I can select which Unix windows to open, and which commands each window needs to run. What VB 2008 commands (1)run otherapplications on the same PC; (2) set the focus to another window (3) allow a VB application to send acommand scriptthat will be used by the Unix window as if
The following screenshot was taken from a web based application developed using vb.net. Do we have similiar in windows application form? The program generates the rows from database and represent them in suitable controls such as combo box, text box or just label.
I created my user control for email validation in windows application(C# language).I am using it in the form, if the user leave that textbox it ll show message "E-Mail expected",if its correct value, then it ll be stored in another textbox. I am looking for a contol either listbox or listview to support my requirements. Basically how my application looks is:
[Code]....
Having said these things. I used to program in VC++6, VB6. But using those version now seems not realistic now as I lost touch. But if I have to use the latest 2008 versions, for which I do not have any experience seems scary. So, If you are reading this , and you have got some experience in these fields or using controls that support my requirement, can you please let me know which programming language or IDE and Control should I use to develop this application. PS: the image is made using mspaint and does not represent actual program.
I have a VB windows application and I need a way to control input output from this windows application to a batch file. The batch script is quite complex so converting to a VB console application is out of the question because it will too much time.An simplified example is this:I have this batch file test.bat(just for example)
@echo off set /p choice=name : %choice% echo Hello %choice%!
In this batch file the user input the name which is then stored in a variable and after the user press enter on the screen will appear Hello + user input.
1. Is it possible to enter the name in a textbox from the windows form and by pushing a send button pass the name to the batch application and then the batch file to continue the operation of displaying the Hello message?
2. After the batch file finishes the operations it will open another console windows (3) with status of the various operations that take place on the system(in my case connected users to a server)Is it possible to hide this child console windows that are generated after my main .bat application finished the operations of opening connections? Can this be done from the windows application or I need to modify the .bat script?
3. Is there a way to collect the console windows output in a textbox from the windows application? One idea that came to me was to redirect the console output to a textfile and then read the textfile in the VB application but I want to know if there is another way.
4. Is it possible to hide this batch file inside the windows application exe?

It's usual to see hoe to build a player with the AxWindowsMediaPlayer.
But in this occasion, I'm interested in control de Windows Media Player from Windows 7 with my own application. For example, I want to create a button that is able to pause or play the video that I'm watching with the WMP.
I have a vb windows application with 2 forms, where form2 is called from form1 using form2.showdialog()
I added a web browser control to form2, and I'm getting the following error at the point where form2 is called:
Current thread must be set to single thread apartment (STA) mode before OLE calls can be made. Ensure that your Main function has STAThreadAttribute marked on it.
I tried: 1) adding STAThread() to the form_load()
2) I added a module to my application, and created a sub main(), with the STAThread attribute applied to it
I was wondering if there was a function in user32 that could enable a hwnd control if it is disabled (grayed out) If I know the handle then can I do this? Also, if it is a menuitem, can it be done too?
I have tried to control another application to automate a process we do 100 times a day. It is simple enough, a few key strokes is all but I have been foiled in all attempts
I study automation engeering!I am in the last year of my studies and i choose for the final project <<Smart house Design And Controlling>>.I would like to create a application on windows to present the plan of the house and control it I decide to use the Visual Basic Express! If someone can help me on this project.
I am upgrading my application from vb6 to vb.net.I used to populate my data in datalist control in vb6 forms. I am not finding it in vb.net windows form application. Which one control is the equivalent to it?

I am writing a windows form application, where I want to have a WebBrowser control, and in that control, I want to show a Google map programmatically generated (I mean, not just specify a URL to the browser).
At the moment, my current application is targeted for the Vista OS.I was wondering if there is a way to maybe use conditional logic or something else to target XP.
The tasks my program will do are depend ant on the file structure of the OS. As you all know, the file structure in Vista is different in XP.I thought that maybe I could do something like, If XP Then... Else If Vista Then..
I've search the net in order to create a custom control but nothing I find is worth looking at, The main thing I want to do is create a skinengin via DLL and import it in my vb 2010 then using or creating some sort of skin builder where I can create a full setting file which contains all the details of the customization regarding the Form(Look, Feel and the controls such as a menu), I have used Iriskin and multiple apps doing this for me and when a user installs my application they still recieve a message about buying the registered DLL file, I would like to create it completely from scratch.
Is there a way to make VS2008 work with the old (vs2005 crystal reports) assemblies and not require any updates to be installed in the client machines? We have upgraded a Visual Studio 2005 .net 2.0 solution to Visual Studio 2008. The purpose is to take advantage of the IDE improvements and because it supports multi targeting. The solution still has to be built against .net 2.0. It all works as advertised, we rebuild and run it in a machine with only .net 2.0 installed.
But during testing we get an exception when we try to show a Crystal Report that is included with the application. Then upon review we find out that without telling us, Visual Studio changed the references to the crystal assemblies and pointed our solution to the updated versions that come with vs2008, which requires crystal runtime be updated on client machines. We did try removing the references and adding the old ones but it won't compile.
I was wondering how I would send a formatted vbscript block of code to the vbscript scripting interface for it to execute? I have tryed Windows script host but dont understand how to implement something like this using it.
I can run it using script control but I need an alterative method for 64-bit computer because i of the installer script that installs 64-bit components that only use the 64-bit version of scripting interface.
Even if its an idea with starter code i think i can build on that as long as you give me something to go on and explain your reasoning.Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. - "Sherlock holmes" "speak softly and carry a big stick" - theodore roosevelt. At this point, when the email client is Outlook, the clipboard doesn't show what was added to the Windows clipboard above regardless of whether we use a left click in the BCC box or a CTRL-V.
Say I have a Framework 4.0 project that is referencing a class library targeting 3.5. The project will simply not build. It won't give me any valid error message it will just act as though the reference does not exist.
Projects that were working like this in Visual Studio 2008 are no longer working in 2010. Took me forever to figure out what there error is. If I remove the project reference and add it back the intellisense lights up and you can tell a variable referenced in the class library is found. But as soon as you build the project everything is lost. My using statements get underlined, references to the variable all turn grey and project fails to build saying the class cannot be found. Once I make the class library 4.0 as well everything builds. I get the same issue between 4.0 client profile and 4.0 as well.
I have a solution with several Projects in it. There is a Windows App project (called ImportClient), and a Class Library (Import.Library). The Import.Library has functions to perform data imports (I have other applications in the solution that also need to call it). But the interactive application, I want to be able to pass in some form controls, and have it update the GUI. No problem. But, I also want to execute a DoEvents() so that the loop execution doesn't hang other interaction to the app.
So, ImportClient has a reference to Import.Library. But I can't add a reference to ImportClient to the Import.Library, because the compiler complains about circular reference, etc. I don't know how else to define the My.Application object of ImportClient as a parameter to the data function in ImportLibrary.
(I realize this is a dumb question - problem is, for this project I have a tight timeline, and haven't learned how to do the BackgroundWorker process. If you think I could pick it up quickly, I'm open to some hints about how to update the progress bar on the GUI, and how to pause / cancel the background task.)
