I am having a bit of trouble showing content in my comboBox as i type.The idea is to: As the user is typing into a combo box, say the user types the letter L. would like for all the words in the dictionary.txt beggining withto be shown in the combo box.

View 7 RepliesI am disabling line items in a combobox I have based on various test conditions (see code below). The problem is that when I first open the combobox my method below isn't getting called. It only gets called when the mouse hovers over each line item.
This is resulting in the list looking very different before/after a hover (see png file for a before/after picture).
how to show the list disabled on open?

I've tried a couple things to add items to a combobox (I've also Googled a lot but haven't found anything for VB2010) and on top of that, how to make it so that if the user selects 10ms, it changes the Timer1.Variable to 10.

In my dialog I want to prevent the user to browse freely in certain places (this is due to the fact that my application will be running in a terminal server environment). So I want to to limit the items that will be visible in the top combobox of the server. I want it to start with "My Computer" instead of the usual "Desktop". Furthermore I only want to add mapped network drives under "My Computer" so that the user won't be able to see any local resources.With Spy++ I have been looking around at what happens when a FileDialog starts.
So far I have found that for each item in the combobox CB_SETITEMDATA and CB_INSERTSTRING methods are executed. By using a hook to the combobox I am able to intercept these messages, but sofar I am unable to determine the exact contents of what is inserted, so I am unable to determine wether it is the "Desktop" item or not.I have also discovered that the "My Computer" node is only added at the moment that the combobox is expanded. So I would need a way to get a handle to "My Computer" and insert an item for it manually

I have a form in my vb.net application used to take the data about the returned stock. The form contains two comboboxes. One, named combobox5, contains invoice numbers and the other, named combobox3, contains party codes. Both the comboboxes are pre_loaded using sqldataadapter.
Now what i want is to change the party code in combobox3 when the invoice number is changed in combobox5. Elaborating it further, When Stock is issued the party code is stored along with the invoice number to keep track of to which party was the stock issued. Now when stock is returned i want to keep track that which party has returned the stock and i want that the party code should be automatically selected when the invoice number is changed and it should be what is stored in the database against that particular invoice number....

I start a new Windows forms Application project and drag a combobox onto it.

I loaded up a checkedListBox with items form a .txt file. The .txt file has itemName, ItemPrice. Every item that gets checked shows up in a listBox on another form. The problem that I am having though is that I need to accumulate the itemPrices of the selected items to show up in a textBox, but the only price that shows up is the price of the item in the checkedListBox that has the focus. I have a number of textboxes and labels in a panel which has to scroll in order to view them all. The user is then able to scroll down and click on one of the labels which has a textbox that appears so the user can change the corresponding value in the label. For some reason, if the user has to scroll down at all to any of the labels that are initially out of view, when they click on the label the textbox appears far below as if it was at its initial position and not directly where the label currently is.
