Smart Client (Multi Table Manager) TabControl

I am trying to create a smart client (multi table manager). I didn't want to make it a MDI app, so I used a TabControl to host each table UI. I am having problems with the BindingNavigator control. When I drag the table grid from the DataSources to the top tabpage, the designer adds all the needed controls. However, on the other tabpages it doesn't add the BindingNavegator. So, is this the proper behavior or am I doing something I am not supposed to do? What would be the best way on doing this? Do I need to make it a MDI app.?

Im using the code from [URL] as a starter, most of the code is the same. the chat system works fine but on the client a added a disconnect button "clientSocket.Close()" and as soon as i click that i get errors, on the client, this is the code...

gives me "Unable to read data from the transport connection: A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall."
Now im talking the server, after the client clicks disconnect or closes by task manager, looses connection, etc the server crashes and gives me.

I woudl like to use a the RDP control in my form. However, when I add the Active-X object and open the form during runtime with frm.show() the app fails.
There are several apps available who do excatly the same. How can I get this running?

I have been searching for days and months on youtube,google and everywhere else about how to create a Multi user chat system, where everybody can talk to each other all at once. Some people say Winsock is the way to go and others say TCP/IP is the way to go. I have little to no experience in either one of them. So if somebody can give me a really great turtioal or show me the guide lines on how to create a server and a client I would highly appreacite it. I am using Visual Basic 2008 express.

Made what I think was a tactical error by using lots of 3rd party controls that made it easy to get stuff going but resulted in carrying a lot of baggage with my apps. Now it is finally time to switch to VB.Net and I want to avoid 3rd party controls as much as possible.
The database is MS Access. Master table called GroupName, key GroupID, string GroupName. Child table is GroupCustomer, key GroupID+CustomerID. Two datagridviews, GroupName on top, CustomerGroup on bottom. I've studied the one to many videos and howto's and it is easy and works like a champ. Fill the tables, sort, filter, add, update, delete, all is well.
Top grid
GroupID1 GroupName1
GroupID2 GroupName2
and so on.....

However, adding a third table is where I get into trouble. In the bottom grid I want to link customerID to the Customer table to pick up Name, address, city, state & zip for display purposes. I've modified the table adapter to create a select query returning the lookup data with the groupID and customerID. It displays nicely on the Fill but doesn't automatically refresh the customer lookup fields when I add or change a customerID and I can't seem to update new records or deletes. The only table in my query that I want to update is the GroupCustomer table but the query is not updateable.I've been trying to figure this out, read articles, learn, step back and think but am still stuck. how to use the controls that come with VS2010.

Developing an application that will serve as an application server (Similar to 'Run Advertised Program' that is present in Windows Server). The downside to using Microsofts current system is that it a) requires Windows Server and b) Works only with systems setup in a proper Domain. I have a number of systems in my house and I'm fed up of downloading from the net or setting up network drives etc etc. I've tried using the code in a similar topic posted a few threads down, but it obviously doesn't support multiple client connections.

I have a MS sql database (not server), my program reads file structure from my 2 TB external drive and saves the list a records in database. I write around 80k records every time and it takes a great time.I am currently writing records by dividing them into 2 background Worker thread 40k each. My pc is Quad core Phenom II.What is the best way to achieve this and also would there be any benefits by increasing the number of threads because mine is only a 7200rpm hdd and not raid. What I mean is HDD might be a limitation?

I have a multi-client DB (multitennant) with several tables.Two of these tables are tblEmployees and tblTitles.Now I have a relationship from tblEmployees.empTitle to tblTitles.ttlID.That far everything is working.But now I have to make the application for multiple clients/tennants.So I added the fields tblEmployees.empClient and tblTitles.ttlClient and included them into the association.This works fine for reading and for setting the persons title as well.But if I try to remove the title (set it to NULL), SQL to Linq tries to modify both tblEmployees.empTitle and tblEmploy ees. empClient with is not allowed because tblEmployees.empClient is part of the primary key.And so I get the following error:[code]How can I tell SQL to Linq only to modify field tblEmployees.empTitle???

I'm having some trouble creating a multi-client server / client thingy.So far, I've used Atheist's example and allowed the clients to successfully transmit information.However, whenever I send more than 1 message to the server at the same time, the server bugs up and does not receive the message at all. I suspect it has something to do with the DoRead method reading from both clients and stuffing it up or something.

I want to make my client & server fully working. If a client connects to the server it should tell that there is a new client connected. if a client disconnects it should tell me a client disconnected.[code]it says in my patcher window(where it should add the text) that it's succesfully connected.but at the server side its not saying there is a new client connected/disconnected, how can I do this?

I have a smart client application deployed as a click once application called "PDFSplitter". The link to install this PDFSplitter is on our company intranet and when you click the link you get a "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?" message. Is there any way to make this message go away?

My Application ( Vb.Net) is to scan Access DB forms and find out the Activx control if present and it works fine. But my problem is.In some DBs we have tables with mapping path to specific locations (Table Property->Linked Table Manager) and when we relocate these DBs then we need to change the path manually otherwise it will show a message to re-link ( Access DB message) while opening the DB. And I am facing same problem while scanning through my Tool as well and my process stops, continue only by manual intervention.
Do I capture the massage event and send some user specific message to user in the Log file or Report and continue scanning further?

i have to develop a ticketing package for a client...and he wants to use smart cards too...i would need to develop the package on a smart device i.e. a mobile application and will have to read the card on the device itself ...i have zeroed on the instrument from motorola. and an blue tooth connected printer to print the ticket.how to read the smart card ...i have searched a lot but have not found anything good.the smart card would contain the amt. balnce in it...and after the transaction i need to again enter the balance in the smart card...

I have a teradata backend that uses auto increment. The form is databound i.e dragged a column to the form which gave me the navigation header etc.The problem I'm having is when user 1 opens a record the auto increment goes +1, let's say we're at 45 now, then user 2 opens a new record and it also goes to 45 as user 1 has not saved. Why is the databinding not locking 45 when the first user opens it

I'm working on an ASP.NET 4.0 site, which I inherited ownership of. It has a number of existing LINQ datasources pointing to individual tables. For example, to the Patient Encounter Summary table in SQL Server. The problem is in displaying the data there. It's a normalized database, so that table contains (for example) the provider ID, rather than the provider name.
It's simple enough to join the Patient Counter Summary to the Providers table (in SQL)... but how does one do that in ASP.NET? I'm not sure of the correct nomenclature, but the 'mid layer' is VB.

All transfer of information is directly from the server to each client. I have a form with a list that shows information from a database. I want the list the update in run time (or almost real time) every time something changes in the database. These are the three ways I can think of to accomplish this:Set up a timer on the client to check every few seconds: I know how to do this now, but it would involve making and closing a new connection to the database hundreds of times an hour, regardless of whether there was any change Build something sort of like a TCP/IP chat server, and every time a program updates the database it would also send a message to the TCP/IP server, which in turn would send a message to the client's form: I have no idea how to do this right now Create a web service that returns the date and time of when the last time the table was changed, and the client would compare that time to the last time the client updated: I could figure out how to build a web service, but I don't how to do this without making a connection to the database anyway The second option doesn't seem like it would be very reliable, and the first seems like it would consume more resources than necessary. Is there some way to tell the client every time there is a change in the database without making a connection every few seconds, or is it not that big of a deal to make that many connections to a database?

I am currently working on a Database that collects information. Firstly, i use a new windows form to collect that data. I have it set up to where, when the form loads, the database is ready to collect the information fields. And then the form closes on the button click to add that data, it does not update that data table view. It adds it once i close the program and debug it again.

I'm adding multi-threading facilities for the first time. I have a function that is wrapped to be run in a separated thread. This function retrieves data (text) from a combobox and it works for sure without multi-threading.
When I call it as multi-threaded, I get the following error when I try to retrieve the data from the cmobobox: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'cmb1stBL' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
It looks like a restriction of thread-safety... I assume that the child thread cannot read from his parent, to make sure that he doesn't change his parent data. So how can I read the data from the combobox? Should I read the comoboxbox data before calling the child thread?
