I have a TreeView in my form which suffers from slow build-time (i.e. it takes forever to load as it drills down into all subdirectories). It effectively loads a treeview control and then allows the user to select a node and populate a ListView control with the files within the given directory node. It populates based on the treeView1_NodeMouseClick event.how I can populate the treeview only down to 1 level only and still have my NodeMouseClick event work in its current form?Effectively I want it to populate down to 1 level on load and then down to 1 level upon clicking each node thereafter
Private Sub PopulateFolderTreeView()
Dim rootNode As TreeNode
Dim info As New DirectoryInfo("C:Documents and SettingsOur AccountMy Documents")[code].....
I am loading the directories from my C drive into a treeview using the code below. It takes forever due to the number of folders. Is it possible to have this only populate down 1 level and then use a NodeMouseClick Event to drill down further, in the same treeView, if the user desires to do so? How would I amend this code to do this?
I have an app that reads a directory to get the filenames in a directory for each File in Directory(process file) next file. I want to know if the file size makes a difference to the time it takes to get the filenames.eg if a folder contains 10,000 photos of 1 megapixel and another has a folder of 10,000 photos of 8 megapixels will it take the same time.
Using a C+ DLL i can search a directory of 12000 blocks (512 byte records) in .46 seconds. That's moving.I can search it with the following code:
Imports System.IO.DirectoryInfo
Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileIO
Imports System.Globalization[code]....
My question is, that's pretty fast. Why the enormous speed differential between C+ and VB? "Becase VB is managed code", doesn't really answer the question.
I am using this code to have all the subdirectories in c:program files and i am listing them on a treeView Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
ok I have some code below as an example but I can`t seem to sort this one out, I want to pass the fullpath to the directory so that when I click the node it adds the subfolder to that node at runtime Here is my sub below I know why it`s happening but I don`t know how to fix it
Private Sub TreeView1_AfterSelect(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
[code]...
this partTreeView1.Nodes(e.Node.Index).Nodes.Add(Files) is where my problem is
I have a treeview, a button and a textbox. When you click button1 a folderbrowserdialog opens and after choosing the folder the path to the folder and anything in it is show in the textbox and with this
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim sDirs() As String
[Code]....
adapted from Major treeview/list view head ache I managed to make the treeview display the folder and the sub folders... but it isn't very hierarchial. Check attached pictures. Image1 shows how it is and image2 shows how I want it to be. Can anyone tell me how to get it to look like image 2?...Image2 was made in Windows Explorer. Image1 is a screenshot of the runing program that I am trying to make. I have been googling around but no luck so far. Practically I think what I shoul be asking is how to create child nodes of subfolders. The program is going to copy whatever the user checks in the treeview into another folder chosen by the user. I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express.
I have something that is working for the most part, but I'm having some trouble with restricted-access folders.
The code I'm using is as follows: Imports System.IO Public Class frmMain Private Sub frmMain_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load For Each drive In DriveInfo.GetDrives [Code] .....
For testing purposes I replaced this section... If drive.IsReady Then PopulateTree(drive.ToString, TreeView1.Nodes(i)) End If ...with this... If drive.toString = "L:" PopulateTree(drive.ToString, TreeView1.Nodes(i)) End If And it worked fine for that drive. The L: is a removable USB drive by the way.
However, with the original code I get debug errors on some folders because they are access-restricted. Is there any way to ignore those particular folders and show the rest?
I need to have tree view display a Folder View of a directory. I also Need to be able to create/rename folders in this view. Potentially even copy files to the newly created/renamed folders.
Does anyone know if there is a way of populating a treeview from active directory so that it can do the following:Loads a list of servers --> Double Click the Server(Expand) --> Then i can select users --> then the department they are in --> then select the user so i can manage the user. i.e change there password[code]
This is driving me crazzyy. I need a simple way to display all of the folders and subfolders of an FTP directory in a treeview, similar to the layout of Windows Explorer. Here's the code I have:

The code is total crap... causes my app to hang. Pretty sure infinite recursion is the cause.
How do i exactly check internet connection speed.I have searched around google and found out a method w/c will Download a file like 1mb size, then it will calculate the speed.
I have a codes that calculates DownLoad speed and UpLoad speed kb/s. I would like to implement this kind. I also want to put such kind of graph. Any article or links where can I start building my own like that.
im making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.
my requirement is that i have to count occurrence of a certain date and between two months suppose i have 10-jan-2012 now i have a date range 1-jan-2012 between 1-feb-2013 my requirement is that if i find 10-jan between 1-jan-2012 between 1-feb-2013 irrespective of year i know that 10-jan will come twice between 1-jan-2012 between 1-feb-2013 i am not understanding how to do this.i meanto say that i have to compare only day and month part of the date which will solve my problem
i have a treeviev and listbox.i want to display the selected contents of treeview into the listbox.my code is working for file but not for folder. means i want, if the all contents of folder ABC(i.e all files) are selected then in listbox i want to show the only path of folder not the seperate path of each file.
i have a treeview say TV1 and another Treeview Say TV2.. Now TV1 Contains all nodes for user rights. and i want to add to tv2 only selected nodes.Like TV1 is
Node 1
....Child of Node 1 (Level 2)
.........Child of Child of Node 1 (Level 3)
what i want is that when i select Level3 Node it should chek TV2 for the parent of this node. if parent exist it should add the node under the same parent. if parent does not exist it should check for Level 1 Node and if it exist it should add Level 2 Node and then Level 3 Node. Otherwise it should add Level 1 , Level 2 and then Level 3 Nodes in order.
I have a class, let's call MyClass. In this class, I have a TreeView property let's call myTreeView..In my code, I populate the Nodes of this TreeView so I can use it later on.Then, when it's time to actualy use it, I haven't been able to take all the nodes from myClass and put them in a Tree View Control on my form.[code]The weird thing is that when debugging, the TreeView in MyClass is well populated with the proper values and in the loop, newNode isn't empty, there's actually something but for some reason it's not showing anything.
I'm creating a simple .NET console application where I want to save a file in a folder that's part of the root project, like so: SolutionName.ProjectNameTestData. I want to put test.xml into the TestData folder. However, when I go to save my XDocument, it saves it to SolutionName.ProjectNameinx86Debug Console est.xml.
