I have the following code that simply takes a list (length = 15) and splits it into 3 different arrays (5 items in each). Is there a way to achieve more efficiently?

I was getting weird results when doing multiple splits on a string, so I decided to make a simple test to figure out what was going ontestString "1234567891011121314151617181920"If I wanted to get whats between 10 to 20 in Javascript I would do this:var results = testString.split("10")[1].split("20")[0]Which would return 111213141516171819However when I do this in VB I get 111Split(testString,"10")(1).Split("20")(0)It seems the 2nd split is only recognizing the first character no matter what I put.
View 3 RepliesI'm currently making a program that will be used to practice German. It reads from textfiles that have English words (noted by # prefix) and German words (noted by $ prefix). An example of this:

#good $gut
#evening $abends
The way it currently works is it loads a text file, finds all # and splits to an array called "English" and finds all $ and splits it to an array called "German" What I want it to now do is feed the "English" entries into textboxes on the left, and "German" onto textboxes on the right so I can then match them out and make a sort of memory game out of it. Unfortunately, I don't know how I would loop an array through multiple textboxes. Conveniently, the textboxes on the left have even numbers, and the ones on the right have odd. Is there a way to possibly find all evenly numbered textboxes and loop "English" array entries into them, and the same for "German"? I've realised this has now gotten a little convoluted, but hopefully somebody understands. I can screenshot the form for better explanation, and copy my existing source code if anybody wants it.
I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem,however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy.So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains?This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line.This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.

I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

How someone would select an item from a list box and click a button and have that item go into another listbox with it's price? I seem to be stuck on this part.

my program downloads into a combobox every item(line) that is in a text file located on a server.
Every line in the text file ends with "a)" or with "g)".
Now I just want to make 3 radio buttons:
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "g)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "a)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox of both (I already know how to do).
How can I do so?
To download the entire list in the combobox I do:

I have written a class for my one dimensional array The idea is to collect user information, put the info into an array and accumulate the value of each item of the array so there is a running total. 1)A large 2 dimensional array (400,20)
2)The program needs to access particular chunks(for example (0,20) to (50,20)
3)The program will open multiple files and process each into it's own 2D array (400,20)
What I have right now is code capable of creating the array, but no way to store the array so that I can open a new file and process that data into another large array. Someone mentioned the generics List(of T) might be a good way to store each new array as you could use the Add function. I have done some research on the List(of T) class but I'm not totally convinced that is the way to go. I'm just looking for some direction as I've just started on .net this year.
My problem is that i am trying to use a list box to display all the data from one column in one table of my database. and so, i dont know how to do that although someone hinted at using an array, i'm just not entirely sure how also when the list of data is displayed i aim to have a 'select' button that will take the user to the record of the selected item from the box.

I have an app that the user picks items from a checkbox list. I have the items selected saved to a seperate db table. I have created a form which has two things a list box and a button which is labeled "Input Values"The user should click "Input Values" and a new form will appear. I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist.When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible.When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement.When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
