Mar 2, 2011I have my random alpha-numeric generator giving me a list of 500 items. I need to be able to search the "random Plate listbox" by entering into a textbox. Partial matches will be displayed in listbox1. My code for searching the "random plate listbox" is not returning results.

Moving Items Between Two List Boxes?
Dec 16, 2009I need to move items between two list boxes, I've never used list boxes before so this is totally new to me and I don't know where to begin, all I know is they work kinda like arrays.
So what I need is to move one or more items, from ListBox1, and move them to ListBox2 and vice versa

Moving Mutliple Controls/forms?
Jul 29, 2010I have a lot of forms set up, probably about 10-15 so far (more to come). Some forms 'lay' on top of other forms, and each form contains multiple controls. I am discovering that my approach is not very likely to succeed in what I am thinking of doing.
Here is one example: LeftControlPanel form contains 5 controls, but 5 other forms 'lay' on top of it and use transparencies to load up bitmaps. Since I cannot parent the forms that 'lay' on top of the form, I cannot figure out a good way to move them.Is it logical that when I move LeftControlPanel to a different x location, I would just move all the forms that 'lay' on top of them as well?Seems like a clunky approach of moving one form since parenting the transparency forms will remove all the transparencies that are set up...
Is there a bit better logic I might be missing, or bite the bullet and start moving multiple forms at once?
Moving/clearing Array Between Forms
Jun 9, 2011if i have 2 forms amd one module the module contains a public var user1 = string my first form has text box and button 2nd form a label and button now i enter text into text box press button form 1 closes form2 opens and label displays var contents i press button on form 2 form closes form 1 opens enter new text repeat the procudure and the label on form 2 still contains the information from the first time i ran the prog and wont change , its as if the var is locked?

Stop The Forms Moving To The Back?
Nov 20, 2011I have an MDI running as the parent. How can you stop the forms moving to the back when they are open if you click in the any part of the MDI area. Also I notice if I have more than one form open it creates form instances on my windows task bar?

Storing Multiple Arrays Into A List
May 11, 2011The scenario is:
1)A large 2 dimensional array (400,20)
2)The program needs to access particular chunks(for example (0,20) to (50,20)
3)The program will open multiple files and process each into it's own 2D array (400,20)
What I have right now is code capable of creating the array, but no way to store the array so that I can open a new file and process that data into another large array. Someone mentioned the generics List(of T) might be a good way to store each new array as you could use the Add function. I have done some research on the List(of T) class but I'm not totally convinced that is the way to go. I'm just looking for some direction as I've just started on .net this year.

But this gives me an error msg on 2nd and 3rd line: type strDataPoint is not defined....
Forms :: Application Unresponsive After Moving Window (when Running)?
Dec 8, 2009I have an application (written in VB.net 2008) which reads a text file. Parses the record and uses the second field (a UK postcode) to match an Access database (SQL - Select * from Table1 ......), then writes a text file back out with the original input postcode plus several fields taken from the access database.
I have 3 counts happening during the process, records read, postcodes matched and postcodes not matched. I move these values to labels on the form, then every 50 records read, I refresh the form (me.refresh) to update the labels (showing the end user where the process is upto).When running, if I drag the window around the screen, or minimize then maximize, or click off the window to another window, the application seems to freeze and the counter labels do not refresh.
Forms :: Moving An Image In A Picture Box With Arrow Keys?
Oct 28, 2010I'm currently working on a project for university, basically we were given an incomplete program to finish off with bonus points for adding addition features in.Part of the program is to move an image (a monkey) around the picture box (pen). Now to move the monkey we use 4 buttons on the form called Up, Down, Left and Right, however as we need to move the monkey around to test other parts of the program it gets annoying having to click on the button. As such I was able to get some code which allows me to move the monkey around using the arrow keys (I think you can all see the benefit of this). When I use the code in a blank form it works fine, however when I add a button onto the form the arrow keys will instead highlight the buttons.basically set up a button to disable all buttons on the form until a certain key is pressed, however I would prefer not to have to do this.

As I work on solution 'A' I devise a class and save it in solution A's folder. As the class develops, I now find a need for it in solution B.
How can I move it from solution A's folder to my Common folder then link it into solution A and B.
Currently I am doing this manually, Moving then linking to it. Is there a way to do this withing the IDE

I have 6 pictureboxes on my form and the idea is to add a value to the picbox.top property that moves the boxes down at a certain time and speed that i have set in my timer control. The problem i have is i am trying to set properties for all the pictureboxes at the same time by using arrays.
An example would be

Data Reader / Arrays Listbox And Checkbox List?
Jun 5, 2009I have an app that the user picks items from a checkbox list. I have the items selected saved to a seperate db table. I want to be able to have the selected items repopulate as selected if the user reopens the web page.What I've tried:I've pulled the items selected previously back to a hidden list box which works but I can't figure out how to compare what is in that list box with all the items contained in the checkbox list (this is being populated by another seperate table in the db)I've tried just a straight query and used reader but keep getting errors about cast and if I switch it to a GetDecimal, when I try to see what it's pulling, it's not the data but maybe the index: See below:Does anyone out there have a sample of can help me figure out how to just have this stupid checkbox list reselect the items that the user previously selected and saved to the db?

Jul 9, 2011I have a very simple 2D array, it holds a list of song titles, their genre, and their runtime. frmMain loads the array from a text file and allows me to manipulate it and boil it down to a desired (implicitly sized) playlist. i want to THEN pass that playlist array to a second form, frmPlaylist The problem i'm running into....When frmPLaylist calls the Property from frmMain I receive an error that VB cannot convert the string value to a two dimensional array. Simplified...frmPlaylist is all locked and ready to receive a 2D array, but frmMain seems to only be sending a single string variable. on frmMain
