I'm looking for a template or starter kit of sorts that has user management and roll manage allready built in.I would like to use this to restrict certain windows forms based on rolls?I've done a google search, and founds tons and tons of stuff for asp, but nothing for windows forms.
I'm using VB2008 express. idea for a D&D application. So I wrote something and it works, but it's not coded like I want. Here's the program if you want to see it in operation: [URL]
Here's the problem I have. I want a message box to pop up if no dice are selected and the user clicks the roll button. So far the only way I have been able to accomplish this is to put the same code under each radio button:
I want to have this code only once. But If I put it outside of the If/Then bracket and no dice are selected, the msgbox pops up but also the buttons that I want to remain hidden until dice are chosen pop up. How do I get the msg box to pop up and stop...don't execute any more code.
Heres' the code so far. trying to keep it relatively simple:
Code: Private Sub RollButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RollButton.Click 'see which radio button is checked and display random number accordingly If TwentySidedRadioButton.Checked Then RolledValueTextBox.Text = GenerateRandom.Next(1, 20)
I have built a MVC website on IIS6. I used the built-in ASP.NET Security without Membership, just the way it was implemented in the template solution. It is easy to secure a contoller or action, but now I need to expose the user management to an admin logged into the site. I understand that the builtin ASP controls for doing this are not "best practice" and are a dog to get working. So what is the best practice for offering user management through a ASP.NET MVC application?
I considered using the Entity Framework and wireing it up to the myriad of stored procs. but that seems awkward. I see options for AccountMembershipService and FormsAuthenticationService. That is what the existing project account controller uses. But, I am not fimilliar with either.I can't help but think that this should have already been there from the project template. This is a fundamental part of any website and you were given 15%, why not the rest?
i have created a project in asp.net.now i want to implement asp.net administration tool in my project for user management. The tool works fine in a website ,but in a project it does not work.
I try to create a form that managing the access level of user management system. The model I use is the following :I create a connection to database I create a DataAdapter to transfer the data from the database I create a Dataset to hold my data My form consists of the following :A ListBox that list all the access level namesThree text boxes: the first for the record ID The second for the access level name And the third for the discription of the access level Five check boxes:One for writing rights One for the deleting rights One for the Updating rights One for Printing rights And one for Special area access rightsSo what i do is the following :I create a connection string I create a new connection to my database server I create the DataAdapter I initializing the DataAdapter command such as SelectCommand, DeleteCommand, e.t.c.I fill my DataSet with the data DataAdapter get from DataBase I binding my controls to DataSet I setting the DataSource property of the ListBox to my DataSet I setting the DisplayMember to the ACCL_NAME column of the DataTable inside the DataSet I setting the ValueMember to ACCL_ID column of the DataTable inside the DataSetUntil this time all are fine ! ! !The question is :When i try to add a new row to dataset by using the following code i have a problem :
Dim newRow As DataRow = Dataset.Tables("TableName").NewRow newRow("COLUMN_NAME") = Binded Control Value DataSet.Tables("TableName").Rows.Add(newRow)
I'm trying to update a data user using vb.net2008 and sql server management studio express for my backend. the error says "must declare the scalar variable "@username"
Here's the code .
Private Sub btnupdate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)Handles btnupdate.Click Dim connstring = New SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data Source=MISD-
I'm a new programmer and I'm looking for some guides/series, or something like those, that basically walk you through building some sort of application. For example, I used to buy little sets/kits from radioshack that walked you through building a clock, radio, etc., or other little electronics devices. The kits came with all the parts and instructions so you just assembled them. Hence, I'm just looking for something similar to that for vb, minus the components obviously ;-). I like to learn through hands on experience so I'm just looking for some guides that have you build a program and briefly go explain the workings of the code.
Can anyone shoot me a zip file for the RSS Screensaver Starter Kit for Visual Basic .NET Express
Microsoft's web site claims it is part of of the Visual Basic .NET Express download. I downloaded it but when I click on file / new project, RSS Screensaver Starter Kit is not there.
I am buying a netbook so I can write applications in Visual Basic using the vbc.exe compiler that is a part of Windows SDK. Will vbc.exe work with Windows 7 Starter (which seems to be the usual OS for netbooks)?BuckBoost
I'm sitting here with a print out of the class deck, class hand, and cardgameframework from the blackjack starter kit for visual basic and I'm lost as to where I need to go to use the above mentioned classes. I am looking to create a simple poker game using these classes as a base. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something functional. Starting off I would like to hit a deal button and have it deal 5 cards into pictureboxes and then give me an option to (mouse click) hold any number from 0 to 5. Once I have clicked the cards to hold, I would like the program to deal new cards into the other pictureboxes. If I could get the program up to that point it would be a great place to start. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Has anyone used the cardgameframework before?
I'm developing a standslone system for my school project. I'm developing an audio management system which allow user to add audio files itself into database together with the audio information such as artist name and album year. I just started it few days ago and face some problems.. my song in the playlist wont continue to play after 1 finished and i need some idea on how to store the audio files into database ... in blob types may be?
Heres the screenshot and codes
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles bt_add.Click
I need to make a program in VB but I have absolutely no idea what to do or how to write the code for it.The program needs to roll 2 dice comprised of picture boxes (one large picture box with 7 small picture boxes inside it for each) add the two numbers together and then calculate the percentage of each total number per roll.
I'd just like to say please bear with me. I'm a total newbie to coding. I know a little bit of web development but I'm incredibly new to making programs. Teach me and I'll get better, I promise.
I have a problem regarding bill printing on roll paper. My printer is Epson LX-300+II, my roll paper is about 3" width, and is used for printing bill/invoices for the customers. The number of items varies.Whenever I finished printing the bill, the printer throws out/ejects the paper, as long as about a letter (11") size. Whatever the ways to achieve this, I just want the printer stop printing/ejecting after the last line, then i can tear off the bill for my customers without wasting paper.
I'm really wondering someone out there could help me.. I have worked hard for this, and searched in internet, but it seems that there's no applicable and clear solution. If the solution is in VB, please give me the code to implement this, or give me a very simple example application.I cannot make a custom size in my printing preference.
First let me say yes this is for homework and no, I DO NOT want an answer in code. A simple nudge in the correct direction will suffice.Basically I am attempting to roll the dice with the roll button and then display the number of times a number shows up with a bar graph.
I hope I got all that in this question title. Let me explain. We are starting on small desktop app that will snowball into a big app with many forms. The database is SQL Server. It will have classic stored procs/functions performing classic CRUD functions. Given a table or stored proc in SQL Server what is the quickest way to create a form with all the hooks to maintain a table.
For e.g. lets assume I have table like this (most code below is pseudo code)
Table Employee { Name varchar(30) DOB Datetime Address varchar(100) }
From this as source I want to create my Target which is form with 3 labels and 3 textboxes with add delete modify buttons (or OK button to add if not exists or modify if exists)
[Code]..
The code generation tool or technique that will be used should generate the correct db hooks (create SQL parameters, SqlCommand, execute sql.. basic try catch etc. Is there any open source tool to do this ? Some trick or templated approach via VS 2010 ? Worst case any third party tool ?
i have a datagridview on a form which contains studentname (in alphabetical order) and a blank rollno field according to the particular class. Now what i m suppose to do is to assign roll no on button click, starting from first student to last student.
I'm using Microsoft's Portable VB. so far I'm doing my work with the help of my friends. I'm making a project and for that I want to wheter I can have an image as a marquee. If yes then how to make it work like that or what is the coding for it?
we currently use our own 3rd party customer management system that is cloud-based. They offer pretty good reports; however, we need special reports and the only way to do this is to download our database though web services that the vendor offers. I have some education and experience with programming, but it has been a while. Instead of having to actively engage the webservices directly, our vendor has offered a stepping stone. They have a command line exe that interacts with the webservices and, with the use of different parameters, gets us to the point of having all the data downloaded in xml, csv, or screen printed - the only problem is that it will only do this a table at a time and there are 43 tables I need to interact with. I need to build something that can either be a console application or something that can be run automatically in the middle of the night when there is no load on the server.
Here is what I need to happen:
The command is CMSDownload.exe. It needs to login (again, there are already parameters set up to do this so I can hard code that into the script) Once logged in, the script needs to check a parameter that has been saved that signifies the last date of successful completion. (Obviously, it needs somewhere in the code to place this parameter also). As I mentioned before, each table needs to be downloaded into its own xml file individually. For instance, the following is one example of a table being downloaded in this fashion:
Generate an XML file of all of the data in the accounts table between '01/15/2009 09:13:34 AM' and 01/16/2009.CMSDownload -d somedn -u someusername -p somepassword -f c: empaccounts.xml -m xml -o all -t accounts -s 'start date' -e 'end date' -d is a login component (credentials) -u is a login component (username)

Roll no is like 11DCE001...For eg:- Roll No StudentName 11DCE001 A
How to use a databound combo box to display one field in the drop down, and another as the combo box text on roll up? Using VS 2005... For example, I have a datatable that has 2 fields. One called "ShortDesc" and one called "LongDesc". I want to be able to see the "LongDesc" column values in the drop down on the combo box. When I make a selection, I want the text in the combo box to read the corresponding "ShortDesc" value.
If I'm making an application using two dice images and the button I click changes those two images to random dice - what is the code for that? I have already made my dice images using paint, what is the code I use so that whenever I click the "Roll the Dice" button, it goes to two random dice images?
