Stop Webbrowser Objects From Stealing Focus If Auto-refresh Header Is In Use?
Jul 12, 2010
I have a VB.net form which has two webpages embedded. The webpages have a 5 second auto refresh built into the HTML header as the information is constantly changing.
The problem I have is when I pull up a secondary form, I lose focus to the 'Main' form everytime the webpage refreshes.
Is there any way to stop the webpages autorefreshing in the form and I will build in a refresh command into a timer I already have in place and then I can start and stop the refresh at will.
Unfortunatly I cannot amend the source code of the HTML as this is required for a different process elsewhere.
I have a list of textboxs that are binded to a database.
When a user starts to type in one of these textboxs I draw a listbox right under that textbox that shows a list of other items in the field that start with the same keys.
IE, the user types in "Ni" and the list box will have "Nick" and "Nicholas" and so on...
That all works great but when I hit tab I want the next textbox to get focus and the listbox to hide.
If I just wait for the textbox to lose focus you can't do anything with the listbox because DOH the textbox just lost focus and the lsitbox hides.
This has led me in a circle of I'll try this and I'll try that for a while now.
I have listbox.tabstop set to false.
I've tried to manually set focus to the next textbox but the problem is that the listbox gets the focus that instant and all the gotfocus lostfocus code for the textbox is ignored.
I can't out right ignore the listbox getting focus.
In my WPF application I have a notification window that appears at the top right for 3 seconds and closes. Just a normal notification window. But when it appears, it takes the focus away from any window that was active. For example, if I'm typing in Chrome and the window appears, chrome looses focus and my typing is halted. The notification window is set to top most so that it will appear on top of other windows, but how do I go about stopping it from stealing the focus of the user?
I have set a scrollable control's autoscroll to true. What do you do when you don't want a scroll to occur? For example, suppose you have a RichTextBox and a button side by side as below: Notice that "button1" has the focus. If you click on the RichTextBox to give it focus, the scroll bars will scroll until the upper left corner of the RichTextBox is in view. But what if, for whatever reason, you wanted to keep button1 in view? How would you do that?
I'm working on a program to wish my girlfriend a happy birthday, my idea is to show a label like a notification, similar to the one used in messenger, but I want it to be on top of whatever she is working on the computer at the time, even games (she's a hardcore gamer). Is this possible??what I'm asking for is a form on top of everything, not stealing focus, and if she presses a key, for example "q", the message activates no matter what she is doing. I'm a beginner, and I know how to do the label, the key press, but I don't know how to do the above mentioned
I want to make a program in Visual Studio 2008 in Visual Basic. It involves a web browser and I want to make it auto refresh and allow people to choose the time period in which they want to auto refresh. It won't take user input but I have checkboxes that are preset. I think this may be possible using a timer and the WebBrowser1.Refresh() method. If I am mistaken, please correct me and tell me how to do this.
My program has multiple webbrowser objects, each one in a different tab. How would i go about setting up a button to refresh only the webbrowser on the active tab?
When I run my VB.NET Winforms app I do not want it to steal the focus from the other open apps. FYI, my app is started from the command line but that shouldn't make a difference. I've seen question 577076 but that doesn't seem to work.
how to prevent a popup toolbox window (Form) from stealing the parent Form's focus?I've been told to override CreateParams and use WS_EX_NOACTIVATE (0x08000000) but that does not seem to work (see the code segment shown below). I'm using Show() and not ShowDialog().
Protected Overrides ReadOnly Property CreateParams() As System.Windows.Forms.CreateParams Get Dim cp As CreateParams = MyBase.CreateParams
I am new to VB and am trying to get my webbrowser1 auto refresh on a web page every few seconds. Is there a way to program a button to do this? I am also trying to get the browser to auto select "yes" when a radio button is present and then auto click "yes" on a message box when it pops up. Any ideas where to start?
launch a Modeless Dialog I am used in me.showintaskbar property to remove application from taskmanager.but it removes the form(application)it still refreshes. How to stop the form refresh.
I am working on a data entry type form and I want the enter key to move focus to the next text box. I've got that working great except that the focus is moving to the label that is, in sequence, between the text boxes.
I am in a situation where I have a tool which is always running. Now if any new entry is added or deleted from the database then unless we dont restart the application it will not reflect the changes. So I want that the application itself should check for the updates or at least it should refresh itself.
I have a web reference listed on my windows form and I have it listed on my form.VB page "Imports ......" with my intellisense turned on. Everytime I start to type something my visual studio would stop working as I am guessing it is trying to refresh the list with all the commands from the web service I added which takes a couple of minutes. How do I set it so that it will not refresh the web reference? I want to be able to do it manually only, I want my intellisense to stay as it has all the commands I needed in there.
i am currently making a project which is to make a cinema screen booking system. My main problem is that although i have most of what is working i need to find a formula to give the full result (overall price) in a label. My other problem is the fact that when i interact with my form certain things dont auto refresh when i change certain values e.g i change number of seats but it doesn't auto refresh the price or anything OR i click one discount then another but nothing changes and it keeps the old value.
Okay in my menu i have a CombBox (ComboBoxScreen) for choosing the film and there are 3 films to choose from in the drop menu each with their own price. I also have a Textbox (NumberSeats) for inputting a number of seats you want to book for chosen film. And lastly there are 3 radio buttons each with different discounts. e.g No discount, 10% off and 25% off. A formula to work out the overall price uses all three functions/tools above. [Code]
I have a custom UserControl that contains just one TextBox. When I set the control to Enabled = False, the TextBox is disabled but the control is not (control still fires the Enter event).
How do I ensure that the UserControl will not receive focus? My Enabled Property Looks like this:
Private _Enabled As Boolean = True Public Shadows Property Enabled As Boolean Get Return _Enabled End Get
I have a windows form with a DataGridView control.I bound it into an attached DB file (.mdf).I perform insertion by generating a dynamic Insert statement. I then pump this sql statement into a SqlCommand object and perform ExecuteNonQuery() method. All of these is performed by handling a Button click event. The button and the gridview is located on the same form.
Public Sub InsertRow(ByVal param1 As String, ByVal param2 As String, ByVal param3 As String) Dim strConn As String = (the connection string) Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection(strConn)
[code]....
After the code execution, the DataGridView is not updating (remains intact). I have to exit the form and reload it to have the updated gridview. For certain reasons, I can't use DataTable object. But I would like to have this gridview updated everytime I run the insertion.
there are two computer connect to one shared database one of the user (user1) will insert new record then the records in (datagridview) of the user (user1) who insert the record will be 11 record but the(datagridview) of other user (user2) will still have 10 record.what the possible way that may allow me to refresh the records..Also how I can make a new record in datagridview of the user2 can be colored by yellow or red back color.
I have an issue that I can't seem to tackle. Going on 3 weeks. I have a VB.NET app with an sqlce 3.5 database. I have created several tables in this database. I have attached them to my form using DataSet then BindingSets and so forth. Done this many time before. VS automatically created a TableAdapterManager for me.I was having an issue getting the Refresh of the primary key value of a newly inserted row. Ok, find out that sqlce does not do big transaction, or multiples rows at a time, found Beth Massi's blog on how to work around this:Ok, got it somewhat to work, but I had to take one of the tables out of the tableadaptermanager so I can update it by itself so insted of doing this:
i'm working on a desktop application in vb.net, using vs 2005 and mssql 2005. i want to refresh the pages everytime i insert a record, but i only succeeded by having a load button where user has to click everytime they add a record to view the new record. Is there any way(s) to auto refresh those pages?
I've a multiform project, and one of the forms within it is a loginform created using one of the templates built in with Visual Studio. This form, when opened has no code in any of the open events, yet still manages to:
- put the cursor in the password field ready for text entry - highlight the "OK" button - press the "OK" button if the enter key is pressed.
How can I replicate this behaviour on other forms? I've copied the properties of the button to OK buttons on other forms but can never get them to behave in the same way.
I am writing an ap that monitors a website for changes. The website is for reserving campsites and I need to know when they change the date we can book a reservation. The date can change at midnight or any time during the day. It is completely random.I start the program launching a webbrowser with the URL. I have an inputboxbutton that prompts for the text to track for change. You paste the text in there and then the ap is supposed to wait for x minutes then refresh.I have a refresh button that works perfectly. Here is the code for it:
Private Sub Button_Refresh_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button_Refresh.Click WebBrowser1.Refresh()
I am a complete noob at programming, so I need all the help I can get with my new program.I am building a web-browser which is linked to one webpage. The content of this page is constantly changing, so I need the web-browser to auto-refresh after 2 minutes. But if it refreshes while NOT connected to the Internet, the browser will show an error message, so that is why I have build in an Internet check. This check is working. The browser also have to be in the same place at the screen every time the software is loaded. This code is also working.
But the timer and the refresh is bugging me. I cannot get it to work. The code is not responding.
Here is my code: Dim TestHeader As String = "Referer: [URL]" If chkRefferer.Checked = True Then WebBrowser1.Navigate(cmbUrl.Text, False, Nothing, TestHeader) Else WebBrowser1.Navigate(cmbUrl.Text) End If
Whenever I try and browse to a page with the 'TestHeader', IE opens up and goes to the page.... However, if I navigate to the same page without the additional header, it loads up fine in my webbrowser control.
I'm using a System.Timers.Timer in a service that seems to keep ticking after it has been disabled. I'm using autoreset = false so I would expect it to only tick once unless I start it up again. I'm calling stop again, just for good measure, but the timer keeps on ticking.I'm using VB.NET in .net 1.1 and don't have the option to change frameworks. Here is a simple console app to reproduce the issue. This is not the actual code from the project.I believe the interval is long enought to prevent any thread issues in raising the event multiple times, but I will admit I'm not a threading expert.
