May 8, 2012I'm trying to make custom ListBox with some graphics. Base is ItemCollection - each item contains Panel, 2x label and 2x picturebox. What each panel have to do:
- Change backcolor on MouseEnter and set color back when MouseLeave occurs.
- On MouseDown(LMB) - Panel stays "selected" - different color.
Problem: I can't access multiple panels at a time(and I need to), just one via sender as in function. Of course, I can do it hacky way, but I want to do it effective and regular. Is ItemCollection the right solution or should I do it just like an array of panels? Also I want them in one "box", ItemCollection is good for it.
Second "problem": I need to make labels "merged" in panels, when i MouseEnter them(labels), background color on that panel sets to my default color. when i MouseClick them(labels), nothing happens (need to "select" parent panel). It can be again fixed with hacky way, just disable labels - but then the colors of labels are unchangeable.

Asp.net - Controls (buttons) Be Set In A ModalPopup Extender Panel That Do Not Close The Panel?
Apr 21, 2009When a user is editing a given piece of data, they're allowed to add messages/comments. These are stored as child records in a SQL database. Clicking on the Add Message button brings up a panel (pnlMessage) courtesy of the AJAX ModalPopup Extender. This takes some input and, when the "Send Message" button in the panel is clicked (I learned the hard way to NOT make that the 'OkButton' property), the message is stored in the database and an email is sent to the intended recipients. No problem there.
However, I need to be able to allow the user to add new email addresses (so long as they are registered in our database). I have another ModalPopup / panel combo (pnlSearch) that's tied to a button on the previous panel (pnlMessage).
The user is supposed to be able to add an email or click on a search button to populate a list to choose from.
The pop-up panel (pnlSearch) comes up just fine, but clicking the "Lookup" button (which instigates the search and returns a collection of records that the user is supposed to pick from) closes the panel.
Previously, I ran into the problem of having the Button.Click event never firing when I put the Button into the "OkControlID" property (the CancelControlID works fine since I don't want to do anything). Removing the "OkControlID=Button" line allowed it to work perfectly with the Button.Click event firing as expected.
So now I have the Search panel with a button for "OK" and a button for "Search" - but the panel should stay up and visible after the Search.Click does it's thing. Am I missing some property that basically says "don't close the panel when this button is clicked"? Of course, if I bring up the panel again in the same session, the results from the previous effort are there (the search results).

As a small example of the problem, suppose I have one Panel2 contained inside of Panel1. If the Left position of panel2 is set to 0 (meaning it's border is up against the left edge of Panel1), the left border will show as bold, and slightly indented.

Autoscroll X.panel According To T.panel's Scroll Position
Mar 19, 2009This is for a mapping/plotting program.
t.panel is the main panel and it has too much content to fit in one screen so there are scroll bars. x.panel contains the horizontal scale for the data points in t.panel. I drew the scale using a bitmap and set it as x.panel's background.
Setting x.panel's horizontalscroll.value = t.panel's horizontalscroll.maximum doesn't seem to work. I think this is because x.panel's doesn't have any content that causes it to need scroll bars.

Feb 6, 2012I've been trying to create a timer that waits for another timer to finish with its coding and, when it's finished, executes a series of code before stopping itself.
This isn't the code for the actual program I wanted to implement this self-stopping timer in, but it's simple and has the exact same problem:

The idea here is that it's suppose to (using a timer) show the messagebox ONCE and ONLY once per button click. However, what seems to happen (despite the fact that I have 4 ways of trying to tell it to stop) is that the program creates multiple messageboxes until there are a total of about 49 messageboxes on the screen at the same time. I don't know if I'm using the wrong event (unlikely as Tick seems to be the only timer event) or there's a way of stopping the timer that I don't know.

Stopping A User From Destroying DB?
Mar 4, 2011I'm developing an interface for users that will allow them to enter data into a database without having to know SQL. Problem is, some one out there probably does.
How can I stop them from deleting/screwing with my data when they're typing entries within my text boxes?
For example, I don't want anyone to be able to type in DELETE * or any other kind of SQL statements in a text box to ruin the DBA's day.-Nothing to see. Move along.
Stopping Function On Event In .net?
May 18, 2010I have a vb.net application which does some processing. This processing can take a while. The application doesn't respond until the processing has ended and then it handle all events (such as click on buttons) that the user has done during the processing. I'd like to add a "Stop" button so that the user can stop the processing at some point. How can I do that? Could threading the processing (which is done in a function of the application) be a possible solution?
I tried to add a button which change a boolean value and putting the code of the processing function inside a while statement based on that boolean value. However it doesn't work because the click event on the button is processed only after the end of the processing.

Aug 5, 2009Ok, so the PDF problem was traced back to when I would close the test build. When I would close my app via Me.Close the Adobe.exe was still an active process.
I have several forms that include multiple PDFs. I need to ensure that the Adobe.exe process is terminated during the exiting of my applications.
