I have created Stored Procedure in server explorer, and added this to my Form1
however, I find out I cannot simply use QueriesTable.Adapter.StoredProcedure1 in my VB code but I can add this Stored Procedure from TableAdapter and use TblContactTableAdapter.StoredProcedure1 to use this procedure, but I think it's kinda fool, why can't I use it directly from QueriesTableAdapter?
And I would like to know:
I think it's good to make stored procedure in database design so this procedure is saved in database server, rather than Client Side Application
Also, are queries created from TableAdapter saved in Client Side Application? which is not saved in database server side?
Is there a way to call a procedure in Visual Basic (.net) with a variable name? For example, the variable strColour can be one of 10 pre-defined values, green blue black white red pink orange yellow indigo purple. How to handle each one is in it's own Sub Routine, colgreen, colblue, colblack and so on.
I can use a bunch of if..then..else and select case, but what I'd like to have is something like VBA Excel's Run "col" & strColour
So I have an application that saves and retrieves images from an Access database. The images are displayed in a picturebox but I'm having a bad time figuring out how can I move to the next/previous record/image in the database, so the user can view them and delete it if he wants to...
Here is a screen of my form so you can better understand what I'm trying to do:
And here is the
Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim dbConnection As New OleDbConnection
[Code]....
Save and delete functions work fine, I just need to know how to do the Next and Previous buttons... This should be easy to do, but I'm still a beginner to VB
Biggest problem is that this is a part of a school work which I must deliver tomorrow.
Tools for my website.Visual Studio 2010SQL Management Studioasp.netvisual basic.netI am using GridView. Because of my search code I am not able to use the automatic delete function that GridView has to offer.I clicked on GridView, said "Add New Column" and added a checkbox column.I want to be able to check one or more boxes and select a button that will delete those rows from the database using a stored procedure.
I have a stored procedure to update a table, but needs a couple of values from another table.
the first two selects get the value from the table and then are used in the update statement.
The select statments:
Select @iStatusDropDownValueID = iDropDownValueID From DropDownValue Inner Join DropDownValueType On DropDownValue.iDropDownValueTypeID =
[Code].....
First, the values that are retrieved by the first two select statements are always the same. So they could be passed in by the code itself. I don't know that this will speed things up at all, just make the entire stored procedure better and easier to read.
Second, if the "Value Name" should change this store procedure will break (which is possible, but not often).
I am looking for any insight into the Best Practices for this situation.
I have a stored procedure that keeps timing out even though I have set the connection timeout set to 10000. The code that runs the stored procedure is this...
VB Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class frmMain
[Code]...
I have three ways of adding parameters to my query commented out above. The all seem to return 1781 records (which is all of the records) and will not filter out to what the UserName variable equals which should reduce it to 32 rows.
I use a Console.WriteLine to show that the UserName is indeed my username. But it seems to not be getting passed to the query properly. I tested the Stored Procedure before even starting in on the program, so I know it functions properly. I just don't know what I'm missing from a VB.NET perspective to get the same results into my DataTable.
Does anybody know which version of Visual Studio 2010 contains the full set of Visual Basic SharePoint Templates? I am about to embark on a project to create Visual Web Parts to be used in a SharePoint report.
At the moment I am using Visual Studio 2008 and even though the WSPBuilder is installed none of the relevant SharePoint templates are present.Having searched SO and the web, most advise to install the templates via the Visual Studio command prompt: devenv /installvstemplates
Alas the Visual Studio command prompt is also missing from my VS2008 installation. So, the question remains: which version of VS2010 contains what I need for pain-free SharePoint development? There is a rather large price different between VS2010 Professional and VS2010 Premium, so can anyone tell me if the cheaper version (VS2010 Professional) contains all the Sharepoint templates?
I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.
I want to use "OpenGL" in my project. Is it possible to associate it with "Visual Basic" application developed in Visual Studio 2010? If yes then how can we do it.
I have a project in visual basic 2010 and want to convert it to visual studio 2010 so I don't have to chose the "open with" every time. Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
To reproduce the error I'm getting:Create a new Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET web site in Visual Basic, targeting .NET 2.0Type "Public Property Test As String" Observe "Visual Basic 9.0 does not support auto-implemented properties." error Visual Studio 2010 is happy to use VB 10 against .NET 2.0-targeted Windows Forms applications, this only appears to be an issue with ASP.NET.Is there a way to force Visual Studio 2010 to use VB 10 when targeting .NET 2.0?
have just overlooked something somewhere...I am writing VB.NET stuff in VS2010 on Windows 7 64-bit. It seems to build by default for a 32-bit target, how to I tell it to make a 64-bit executable?
I am using VB.Net 2010 and calling a stored procedure with a dataset to get values in a table plus "created" values.
The values for the "created" values do not come across from the stored procedure. They all show as zero in the IDE and False for the variables. I know I am getting the record because the first five values come across from the stored procedure into the variables correctly.
When I step through a VB6 program using ADO the values are pulled across from the stored procedure.
The problem seems to be in the interface between a dataset and "created" fields in a stored procedure.[code]...
