Program 2010 Not Getting "created" Values From Stored Procedure With Dataset
Aug 11, 2011
I am using VB.Net 2010 and calling a stored procedure with a dataset to get values in a table plus "created" values.
The values for the "created" values do not come across from the stored procedure. They all show as zero in the IDE and False for the variables. I know I am getting the record because the first five values come across from the stored procedure into the variables correctly.
When I step through a VB6 program using ADO the values are pulled across from the stored procedure.
The problem seems to be in the interface between a dataset and "created" fields in a stored procedure.[code]...
I am attempting to create a tier application. Im wondering which approach would be better to take on. Should i have stored procedures on the database and then call these from my Data Access Layer (this is when you right click your dataset and add a table adapter, select existing stored procedures or create the entire query in my Dataset under TableAdapter?
My reason for asking is because my Stored procedures are created to insert and update in one command (by using an If statement), but saw the other approach recently. Any reason for one over the other?
How can I get the output data of sql procedure from SQL Server to my asp.net[vb.net] page dropdown list?<asp:DropDownList ID="DdLocation"></asp:DropDownList>
I have written the following stored procedure: ALTER PROCEDURE ProcGet Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @id as int output, @name as varchar(50) output ASBEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON;
In vb.net is it possible to execute a sp for a dataset (datatable) ?
If no is there any alternative to do this as when I execute a sp from database it gives data saved in my db but if I am working on local dataset how to get updated data from same sp without saving to sql db first
Public Class stat Dim WithEvents connection As SqlClient.SqlConnection Dim connectionString As String Dim da As SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter Dim ds As New DataSet [Code] .... I am trying to fill the dataset by calling the stored procedure "top5_best_selling_products" but the connection is not closed so the error is with the adapter or something.
I'm trying to get VB6 to access an Oracle (9i) procedure and return a dataset without much success. Not used VB6 that much but I need to do it for this application as we are not able to install the .Net framework on this particular server.Oracle procedure has an input param and an OUT param which is defined as a sys_refcursur
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "LOGMNR"."LM" (p_filename in varchar2, p_recordset OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)[code].....
I get the same error message regardless of wetheror or not the second output parameter is enabled.3709 The connection cannot be used to perform this operation. It is either closed or invalid in this context.how to return a recordset from Oracle to VB6?
In a DataSetIf I right-click on a TablesetAdd QueryCreate New Stored Procedure. The creation will fail for me using a SQL 2008 database. "There was a Problem with the UPDATE stored procedure. The stored procedure was not created."If I "Preview the SQL Script..." copy it and run it manually it fails because it is not putting brackets around my user name. "CREATE PROCEDURE SDSDBLUESKY.UpdateQuery" Fails"CREATE PROCEDURE [SDSDBLUESKY].UpdateQuery" WorksThis is a work around because it links to this if I do manually when it gives me the preview option, and don't rewrite it. But is there some setting change in VS2005 to get this to work correctly in the first place?
This may not be the place to ask this, if not, you can move this post to the SQL forum but I have an application that I'm building which pulls dates from a database. The start value is stored as payPeriodStart date and I add 7 days to get the end date. What I need to know is, is it possible to store those values and pass them to a Stored Procedure? Currently my stored procedures have "static" dates in them ie:
where dateadd (n, Timestamp, '12/31/1899') - ([LoggedIn]/1000)/60/1440+1 Between '10/3/2010' and '10/10/2010'

I am struggling with trying to pass values to a stored procedure, I am creating new records on my table by the values are not passing to the table. Here is my persistance class.
Public Function createDMRIssue(ByVal ItemNumber As String, ByVal IssueStatus As String, _ ByVal ProblemDescription As String, ByVal p_AuditResults As String, _ ByVal DMRDate As String, ByVal p_IssueCategory As String, _ ByVal p_DMRInitiator As String, ByVal p_QtyUnacceptable As Integer, _ ByVal p_ProductType As String, ByVal p_OrderNumberm_dmrissue As String) Me.Connection()
the stored procedure is within a transaction. I want to get the inserted values after calling the stored procedure. My problem is, I don't know if that is possible because the transaction is not yet commited.
I have a form that I'm running a stored procedure in and I'd like to pass the results to a datagridview and then offer the user the ability to export those results to a flat text file.
I am trying to pass some declared variables to a stored procedure. Here is my
Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles startpayrollButton.Click Dim ssql As String = "select MAX(payrolldate) AS [payrolldate], " & _

I would like to pass to values to a stored procedure. I am using a sqlreader to populate a excel sheet. I need the user to be able to select a range, rather that the whole table.
Dim strSQL As String = "sp_im_select_customerdtl" Dim data As String = "" sqlCon.Open()
I made a stored procedure for my database program in my form. It appears as an option in the DataSources Menu. How do I add it to my database form for use?what code do I need to use in order to fill the database by a certain value? How do I use and create queries for my database?
So i have a DB with 3 tables. User Table with U_ID and U_Name, Class with C_ID, and C_Name and User_Class Table with U_ID and C_ID. Foreign keys are set.I want to display the classes associated with the selected user. The user is identified by their name. I know these are the two SQL statements I need to execute:SELECT U_ID FROM User WHERE U_Name = current_U_name
then SELECT C_ID FROM User_Class WHERE U_ID = current_U_ID then
I would like to get some advise from all of you. I created a program setup using standard procedure(adding new project.. setup and deployment, setup project). When I ran the setup and installed the program in computer, It's working. Then I decided to amend certain form in the program. I right click at solution"my program name" and click rebuild solution. then i try to run again the setup, there is nothing happen after that(It remain like before amendment). Did I miss anything here? I have never used this method before and this is my first time using it.
I have a stored procedure to update a table, but needs a couple of values from another table.
the first two selects get the value from the table and then are used in the update statement.
The select statments:
Select @iStatusDropDownValueID = iDropDownValueID From DropDownValue Inner Join DropDownValueType On DropDownValue.iDropDownValueTypeID =
[Code].....
First, the values that are retrieved by the first two select statements are always the same. So they could be passed in by the code itself. I don't know that this will speed things up at all, just make the entire stored procedure better and easier to read.
Second, if the "Value Name" should change this store procedure will break (which is possible, but not often).
I am looking for any insight into the Best Practices for this situation.
I have a stored procedure that keeps timing out even though I have set the connection timeout set to 10000. The code that runs the stored procedure is this...
VB Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class frmMain
[Code]...
I have three ways of adding parameters to my query commented out above. The all seem to return 1781 records (which is all of the records) and will not filter out to what the UserName variable equals which should reduce it to 32 rows.
I use a Console.WriteLine to show that the UserName is indeed my username. But it seems to not be getting passed to the query properly. I tested the Stored Procedure before even starting in on the program, so I know it functions properly. I just don't know what I'm missing from a VB.NET perspective to get the same results into my DataTable.
i have a Userform that I created in MS Word that automates almost half my job. I'm just looking to re-create this form in VB.Net so that I can keep up with the trends. What I did previously was load a listbox based on the contents of a data table in another word document. I've searched for other methods of creating a datasource in VB 2010 Express but I'm unsure how to load the contents of a dataset or datatable as opposed to a table from MS Word. Ideally, I'd like to abandon using Word tables and create a dataset in VB and load a listbox based on that. I do not have a copy of MS Access and I'm unfamiliar with MySql, which I'm guessing would are the easiest methods of loading a dataset. I also thought that maybe if I could create a seperate form (let's just call it form1) specifically for entering new data and saving the form as data is added, then linking the datasource from that form to a second form (form2) that has the listbox that will populate with the contents from the data in form1.
I am writing an application that is doing a file conversion.I created a new process in order to run an exe and pass it some arguments in order to do the file conversion. I ran this in the Submit button click event.I added an event handler for when the Process had exited and then continued my code, since I had to wait for the file conversion to complete before continuing.
Everything is running fine now up until the point where I am trying to call a FillBy for one of my datasets. My fill by is accepting a parameter UserID and filling it based on the user id, which is selected in a combo box in the program itself.I keep getting exceptions and it immediately exits the program whenever I try and use this fillby method, if I take it out it completes successfully; however, the new row I just inserted was not added.
I tried adding a tryparse for the value selected from the UserID combobox but I get this cross-thread exception, so I have a feeling the 2 are related.
