Display A Modal Msgbox When Called From A Separate Thread Process?
May 14, 2010I'm using VB.net 2005, .net framework 2.0
I'm currently having a form that has a button starting a long process, with feedback into another windows textbox (call frmProcessLog).
I'm using a Background worker to laucnh the process, upgrade the status of the process and display feedback on the frmProcessLog textbox, and to know when the thread process ended up, (from the cancel button, from an error or normal termination).
the main thread process has some msgbox in it, asking questions to the operator (yes/no/cancel).
I've added the msgboxstyle.systemmodal to the msgbox call which works "ok" excpet if the operator decide to ignore the showing message box and click the cancel button on the frmProcessLog form, which is still clickable even though I supplied "systemModal" to the msgbox. this makes the msgbox hidden behind the frmProcesslog form and the process can still continue.
If I close my frmProcessLog form, I will see the previously msgbox behind it and If I end up click one of the button it will end up at an application error because the thread that called it is not existing anymore.
So I would like that the msgbox to be launched from the thread making it as if it was launched from my frmProcessLog window in a modal way.

Jun 14, 2009I have 1 messagebox which has 2 buttons (MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) usually we can change the focus of the button(yes and No) with tab key and we also can trigger the button with enter key.. but sometimes, i can't change the focus with tab key and can't trigger the button with enter key.i think the messagebox lost its focus..i have to click the form, so the messagebox will regain its focus how to set focus for messagebox?

Feb 9, 2011i was wondering if it possible to have a condition where lets say you have a column in the datatable called amount and a textbox acting as the filter called say maxamount to set it so the rowfilter when filtering the table will sum the number in the amount column until the number in maxamount is met, then stop and only return the rows where the total sum of the amount column is equal or less than the maxamount value, so i guess if the next row takes us over the maxamount it discards this row and returns the rows previous to it. is this possible using datagridview rowfilter or should i be loooking elsewhere to achieve this?

Form Called FrmPracDetails Which Is Built Up With A List View Called LvwColProc
Aug 11, 2009I have a form called FrmPracDetails which is built up with a List view called LvwColProc. Therefore when you click a field on the LvwColProc it takes you to another form called FrmColProcessing, here you can make changes to certain fields which are also present on FrmPracDetails. What I want to do is when you make changes on FrmColProcesing and Click the Save Button (which calls the Save function)the changes appear instantly on FrmPracDetails. Please note, FrmColProcessing will always be open next to FrmPracDetails. I have tried to put this code in the Save function present in FrmCol Processing as shown below, but it doesnt Refresh FrmPracDetails form. [code]

This JCL_History object is basically a Generic.List encapsulated in a wrapper and has the following method:

In my testing I have 2 items in this JCL_History list. When I call that first line of code I posted (the one that invokes Enqueue) with I = 1 I expect the first item to be shuffled to the bottom and the second item to be shuffled to the top.
After the thread returns from Enqueue I notice that this is exactly what happens to my list, HOWEVER if I hit the "step_in" button after the execution of Enqueue I go into the Default Property's set method where Index = 1 and value = and it screws everything up, because the item that got shuffled to the end (index 1) gets overwritten by the item value shuffled to the top.
So basically the set method on the default property is getting called at what I think to be a completely ridiculous time. What gives? By the way I'm running VS2005 on XP.

Add Item To ListView While Continuing Other Code?
Jan 22, 2011I have coded a low-level mouse hook. Each time the user clicks (let's say) the left mouse button, a custom event gets fired which is then handled by a form in my application. On the form is a ListView control with the following columns: Time - Application - Button.
I want that ListView to contain the last 1000 mouseclicks made, so each time the CustomMouseClickEvent gets fired, I check for the itemcount of the ListView, I add an item to the ListView and I resize all three columns. Problem is however that this extremely delays the processing of the mouseclick messages.
I'm wondering if it's possible to raise the CustomMouseClickEvent and then handle it in my application while at the same time the mouseclick message is passed on to the next hook to get processed by the systen?

Nov 19, 2011when you start a new projekt, vs2010 makes a new folder for the projekt. when i reach a certain point in my projekt i want to save that version of the projekt.
what i do is make a new folder and copy that projekt to it. projektfolder2 . when i start the projekt in the new folder the sln doesnt work anymore. the vbproj works then. and vs 2010 makes a new sln file one directory down of the old one between the other
projekt files.

Wait For Batch File To Close Before Continuing?
Feb 1, 2012I'm trying to run a batch file via VB and I need to wait for it to complete/exit before progressing. The issue I believe I am having is that when a batch file is executed, it opens cmd.exe and not the batch file.
This is what I am executing with VB

Oct 16, 2011I'm writing a simple program that takes a screenshot of tab1 of the GUI, then takes a screenshot of tab2, then tab3, etc. I've got the screenshot code down pat, but the problem with my current code is that it's taking the screenshot of each tab before the screen has a chance to fully redraw, so the resulting images are screwed up.Is there a way to get the program to wait for each tab (and all the controls in it) to be fully visible before each screenshot is taken?I'd like to avoid using a timer for this, as the screen redraw speed will vary depending on the user's computer, and the contents of each tab, etc.[code]

Here's the scenario: If "Yes" (button) will be clicked, it'll save the data and clear the fields. If "no" (button), it'll clear the fields and shouldn't save anything.

Apr 11, 2012Can you look at my coding and let me know what I'm missing or doing wrong?I have a SSRS report that is called from a ReportViewer control and the ProcessingMode for this control is Remote. The report also has 1 parameter in it's DataSet.In the code I placed a MsgBox to make sure the code is finding the parameter and returning the parameter name. I am trying to stick the value of 10 into the parameter for playerID 10. Data for this player does exist.
I believe I need to add some more code to make this work but I'm not sure what else to add.
When the code executes the report is displayed but no data is shown in the report.
