TCPListener And Server - Authentication Process?

Mar 11, 2010

I am creating a simple program. (soon to be vastly complex) that is connecting to a server, and sending an authentication code to connect. I got the connection part, but what keeps breaking up is the method of authenticating. I have the entire authentication process in a while loop, so that it will keep going until it receives the authentication reply from the server (an OK-002938, or what ever client number the server decides.

This is my client code for the event:
Private Sub CONNECTSERVER_DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles CONNECTSERVER.DoWork
Try
If network_client.Connected = False Then
network_client.Client.Connect(My.Settings.service_address.ToString, My.Settings.service_port.ToString)
[Code] .....
The client side is flawless. But the server side, works, but it doesn't continue past storing the bytes into a container...

Communications :: Basic Server With TCPListener - Not Responding

Apr 3, 2009

I am trying to build a sort of basic server thing and I cannot seem to get the thing to work properly. I have a client and a server. The client sends a string, the server receives then replies. I cannot get the server to continue responding.
It works in one direction Client -> Server
But because the server is continuously listening the form becomes not responding, thus I cannot send messages from the server. Although it says that its not responding I know that it is just using all of the processing for listening because when I send something from the client the server responds, just the form is stuck because of the listener.

Connect To Sql Server Using Sql Authentication

Jan 4, 2010

I need to connect to a sql server as a specific user regardless of who is logged in on the pc where the program is running.

[Code]...

gives me "Login failed for user ACMEinvoicing" which is who I want to log in as. I'd think that the problem is the login except that I can right click SQL Server Management Studio and select Run As/The following user and enter ACMEinvoicing and password and it opens up allows me to connect to report server and shows me connect as ACMEinvoicing and allows me to run everything I need to. From within code how do I connect to the sql server reportserver as someone other than who is logged in?

Sql Server - Overcome Double Authentication For Sp_linkedserver?

Jun 13, 2012

So we've set up a sp_linkedserver on SQL Server to connect to a remote Access database.Assume the path to this database is W:/breakfast/pancakes/secretPancakes/pancakeDB.accdb

We know the username and password to the actual database Password: allY0urPancakeAreBelongToUs!

The problem is, there is also authentication to get into the "secretPancakes" directory.

This authentication is Username: SuperChef Password: ilovesf00d

[Code]...

Also, is this where I would change these credentials to the credentials used to get into that folder right?

When Copy Application To Server / 407 Proxy Authentication Required Error ALWAYS Comes Up

Oct 6, 2010

I have a console application created in VS2005, with a web reference created via WSDL.When I run on my local machine (and I have a browser up) I can access the web service fine (if a browser is not up I get the 407 error).I understand this, since my local client machine MUST go through the company proxy (I assume the proxy is resolved when I sign start the browser). When I copy the application to our server, the 407 proxy authentication required error ALWAYS comes up.The thing is, on the server all check boxes in internet options/connections/lan settings are NOT checked. i.e. the server DOES NOT go through a proxy.I installed wireshark to help track down the problem and it shows that when i access the web service wpad is being called and our proxy server is being called.is there a .net configuration that allows me to say "ignore the proxy".I have already tried variations on the system.net section of the app.config file: [code]It seems that no matter what we do (including changing registry settings) this application ALWAYS tries to go through a proxy.

Use The Netapi32.dll To Enumerate All The Process On A Remote Server

Feb 2, 2010

I am using vb.net and trying to use the netapi32.dll to enumerate all the process on a remote server. I have used NeServerEnum initially to allocate all of the available servers but have yet to get the NetFileEnum to work correctly. I have used 'Nothing' for the server name and it won't recognize the process on the local machine. If I try to select a server it returns '1113'. This code from what I have found means either 'the file is already open' which means little to me or ERROR_NO_UNICODE_TRANSLATION, just from what research I have collected on the number. The following is my code.

#Region
"Imports"
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices.UnmanagedType

Tcplistener / Tcpclient Over LAN

Apr 22, 2012

I am creating an application that will be talking over the LAN (and eventually, WAN) which uses the Tcplistener and Tcpclient objects. Now, I have this working absolutely fine locally using the loopack address although when I change the IP of the listener to 0.0.0.0 (listening for all IPs) and the IP in the client application, to the IP of the server, it throws an exception when connecting. The client says something along the lines of the the server has rejected the incoming connection. So i disabled all firewalls temporarily but I still have the problem.I have ran netstat on the server which clearly shows that it is listening for an incoming connection on 0.0.0.0. [code]

Out Of Memory Exception With Tcplistener?

Oct 26, 2011

I have an application that listens for connections asynchronously. When a connection comes in, it spawns a new thread from the callback method. This works fine for up to about 13 simultaneous connections then it dies with an out of memory error. The threads that are spawned just do a CHAP handshake and authenticate then go in to a command loop where they sleep until a command comes in or a timeout occurs. I have pasted the code below. Sometimes it will not throw an error but the thread never gets spawned although the connection is accepted.

Code:

Imports System.Net.Sockets
Imports System.Threading
Public Class UpdateMonitor

VS 2005 Windows Services - Process Is Listed As A SYSTEM Process Rather Than A Process Under User Name

The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).

Call A The Multithread Process In Order To Execute Querry In SQL Server DB?

Sep 3, 2009

I have simple ASP.net web form. With a simple click on a button i need to call a the Multithread process in order to execute my querry in SQL Server DB. I know that my querry willl take up to 45 min to be executed. While the process is running i need to display some status information like: Starting time, Time elapsed, % of completed...So after running the process i got the following error message: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding."So i have 2 problems to fix:

Avoid getting timeout while processing/calling the stored procedure. I tried to add cmd.CommandTimeout = 1000 but it didn't work out!
Display correctly Time elapsed and % Completed while processing.

Here's my code in the main form:

Imports System
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Configuration

[2005] Launch Process.Start On Client PC Instead Of Server Side?

Feb 1, 2009

I am building an internal web page which retrieves binary data from a SQL database, converts the binary to an image file, then opens the file on the clients PC.In debug mode, this works fine, because the program downloads the file successfully into a temporary directory, converts it to the image then uses System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() to launch the image file in the associated image viewing program. However, as soon as I upload it to the server, two undesired things happen:

a. The file gets saved on the servers temporary directory, instead of the client temporary directory (I kind of expected this to happen, so this wasnt much of a suprise)

b. System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() does not launch the file successfully. Nothing actually happens when it gets to this part of code, however I suspect that it is trying to launch the process on the server end, instead of the client end.

how I can get System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() to launch on the client end OR how I could get the image to just appear in the clients web browser instead?
