for a while now, i've been using labels and textboxes in my programs. labels to tell the property the user should enter in the text box. has anyone developed any textbox which can write, say, 'search criteria here' in faint silver which disappears when the user starts typing the search criteria in. it should be something like the dic reply box. has any one done this or seen a free control? i don't want to re-invent the wheel

I noticed that ctrl-c and ctrl-v are not working in my project. I am using VB2008 and have an MDI project. The child forms have textboxes but I cannot use the shortcut.

View 4 RepliesI am using a 3rd part dll file (SolidWorks EModelView.dll, COM file) that has a version of 9.2.0.128. When I add it to the resources for the application, however, the AxInteropEModelView.DLL and InteropEModelView.DLL references show a version of 9.0.0.0. When I install the application on a client machine and try to run it, the application says it cannot find AxInteropEModelView.DLL version 9.2.0.128!

I have googled and found some functions which is quite similar, but I have an issue which for eg.
My multiline textbox contains a lot of text with scrollbar, somehow the text I want to find is in the middle, when I click the find button, the word is indeed found and highlight, but the scrollbar still remain on top.
I wonder how can I make the find adjust the scrollbar as well?
using the getasynckeystate for ctrl + c and ctrl+ v or copy and paste..How will I do that in this code? For example when i type in notepad it should also do in the richtextbox with this code it work but when it comes to copy and paste word in notepad it does not works and the richtextbox is empty?

I am using a masked edit text box in my windows application that was developed by using vb.net. In normal text boxes (CTRL+Z- to revert back to original value) is working fine. But In case of Masked Edit Textboxes its not working fine. This ctrl+Z should provide the functionality as same as normal textbox.

View 10 RepliesI've been wanting to create a look like the attached jpeg Ive been looking around for a few hours for a solution to make text boxes transparent or have a background image. I've found a few projects on this form and elsewhere which include transparent text boxes, but every time I try to use it the way I need to--with the text box over a picture box--there are always various rendering errors. Most of the time, the text box is transparent if its just placed on the form (not over any other controls). But when I place them over other controls (like picture boxes), the 'transparent background' always take on the color of the form background.
This is one that I was trying to use. I found a few others around, but they all had the same render errors more or less.[URL]...I figured transparency or background images would have been supported natively. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe I missed something in my searches. I didn't really see anything which adds background images in text boxes (rich or otherwise). At this point, I'd just like anything that works, so it doesn't really need to have transparency--just a simple background image would be great.

View 1 RepliesI'm making a front end to dvdauthor.I have a picturebox which holds the menu background. In order to draw a textbutton on the background image I store the image in a hidden picturebox. So the text doesn't get drawn to the visible background.

This works the first time. But if I hit save again it writes the text to the background image on pbMenu1.
I've been searching all over the interwebs this afternoon trying to find a way to change the color of a disabled text box. As it stands, I'm still working on my first program (A very simple, select a shape from a combo box and input values and the program gives you the area) and I have it working well enough, I'm just working on cleaning up my code and changing that disabled text box color. As it stands, the default disabled color is very similar to the enabled color, and I don't want to just change the enabled color. I'd rather change the disabled to work with the scheme a little better.
View 1 RepliesThat mostly says it, I don't know much more to add. (-: The background is some random red after the execution of a sub routine. I then would like to have the backcolor dissolve from what ever value of red is present to a full white in about 1 second without showing other colors.(Unless it looks really neat...) Red could be anywhere from RGB(0,?,?) to RGB(255,?,?) when it starts to dissolve. Obviously the closer to 255 would make a smaller amount to change. However, I could be just as happy to see it go from RGB(150, to RGB(255, ?, ?) to get it started. The foreground is black numbers.

View 2 RepliesI ran into the problem of not being able to set a labels text from a background worker thread and came across the way to do it, I modified the sub (which only worked for a specified control) to try and make it work with any control I specify, but I get parameter count missmatch on Me.Invoke(d, New Object() {[text]})
