This is contained in a timer event that shows how much it would cost the player to purchase all of the items. This works as intended, until the text box is blank. Each "section" draws information from one of 16 text boxes. My question is this: Is it possible to have each text box to have a "default" number that gets put into a text box when it is empty. This is needed to be done for all of the text boxes, so either a loop or a non specific code slice would be preferred.
i want to set a default number and you type in a textbox a random number it should tell you whether it's high or low ,and when you typed in the right nmber it a lable should says something like you win .And also how can you change PART of a lable by typing in a text in a DIFFERENT FORM
I have a form with a textbox, a button and a label. If I put a number in the textbox this number shows in the label but after that the label start to countdown from that number to zero.
I have menu item, in which I have specified ShortCutKeys as "Del". On click of menu item I have called specific method. I have one form on which one textbox is placed. When I hit the "Del" key the same method which gets called on menu item click is fired. I want the default behaviour to be followed by the textbox. how to suppress the event to be fired and to achive the default behaviour of the textbox or other controls present on the form.
I have a windows application that need to process som quite time consuming jobs. In my first try i did all processing under the form thread. The result was bad response and update of the form due to the heavy jobs.To get around the problem with bad response from the form i created a new class "processing" where i put all the data processing. Then i instanciated a background worker where i in the "doWork" sub created a new instance of "processing".The "processing" class creates a timer from system.timer, and the timer drives the processing. On the Timer event Elapsed the timer starts a new thread from the thread pool.
My problem is now when i want to asynchronously close the background worker (with the corresponding function call what ever it is called ...) there is still a timer thread out there that causes exceptions for me.
1. How can i close my background worker and at the same time have the timer to be stopped?
2. Is there a way to synchronize the timer event so that the timer executes from the background worker thread?
I want to create an array of timer in vb.net. My problem is that how will i raise the tick event for a particular timer, say mytimer(x).tick and inside the tick event there is also a button, say mybutton(x) which changes location every interval. for example:
public class blah dim mybuttons(20) as button dim mytimer(20) as timer private sub form_load(....) handles me.load for x as integer = 0 to 20
[Code]...
i dont know what to do next, all i want is to pass the button mybuttons(x) to mytimer(x) tick event, in which their index number are the same. i want to create one timer per button. how to do that? please help me and post example codes. i've researched the net but i cant understand passing variables, addhandlers, etc. i'm just new to programming object oriented.
I am attempting to create a game in Visual Studio 2008 that allows a user 10 attempts to guess a random number between 1 and 50. I have a label box in which I would like to display the remaining guesses as they decrement. The code so far appears below.
My two (I am sure very basic) questions are:
1. How would I pass the random integer generated through the Generate Integer function to the AmIRight button's click function? I was trying to decrement the counter each time the "Am I Right " button is pressed.
2. I would also like to evaluate each "guess" when the "Am I right button is pressed. Is it possible to nest a Select Case statement in a For Next Loop?
vb.net Option Explicit OnOption Strict OnOption Infer Off Public Class frmMain Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click Me.Close() End Sub Private Sub txtGuess_Enter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles
Eg. ""vb.net" timer event trigger on purpose". This application is meant to run at all times to download a web page every minute. To avoid freezing the UI, I read that the best solution is to move the code from a While/Sleep loop to a Timer that will be triggered every minute. The problem I have, is that the user must wait for a minute before the event is triggered:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Timer1.Interval = 60000 Timer1.Enabled = True
[CODE]...
Is it possible to force this event to occur instead of waiting for it?
I am looking to insert a timer on my game so I only have to press the Start button once and the game will continue until a winner is decided. At the moment as there is no timer the loop is not controlled and the game ends instantaneously. I'm looking to have a timer value of half a second so the game lasts approximately 20-30 seconds
i am try to create a game when i move a picture box around my form with a timer control i almost done every thing but the problem is avoiding the flikkering effect ?is there any way to avoid it?
my function is to adjust a timer interval according to a integer variable.
Original code (works fine):
Code: Dim UpdateSnakeSpeed Select Case UpdateSnakeSpeed Case currentscore > 199
[Code]....
This is the code I'm using right now. (works fine and is more logically correct than the above case statement. I have chosen to go with if .. end if statements over case, as I do not have a full understanding of what the variable SnakeUpdatespeed is doing in the Select case statement. If someone explains then I'll consider it. Also I know case statments are only meant to be used for 1 option selections, however I'm amazed that it still works in case. Atm it's going to be if end if. Now I'm trying to get the for next loop going with this (if it's logically possible). that's what i'm aiming overall out of this thread. To make a convenient loop.
I often think of classes and modules as "global" variables or variables you can use any where in your solution/project. can you make global timers? I basicly want to make a farming like game but the plants will grow based on a timer. So if the player closes that form the timer needs to still tick. So can I make global timers so the timer would not have to start over if the form is closed and reopened?
I would like to create macro. I have some questions is something possible and so on. First thing is it possible to detect number on game? example: this line : Your next dig's number is 8327, type /dig 8327 to dig.I need to get that dig number and then it need to type F6 and type /dig number and enter. Its must do it every 30 sec.Is this possible to create one ? and anyone have ideas how to create on if it is possible.
I have to create a game in which I pick a number and the computer or program tries to guess it. I have a general idea of how to make it the other way around, where the computer picks a number and i guess it but does anybody know how i would begin to do it this way? where the computer has to guess a number that i've chosen?
I've been asked to write an age guessing game using vb. We have to have 4 buttons and a text box where the random number is displayed. The range is between 5 and 110. we have a 'too high' 'too low' , 'start' and 'correct' button
Looking for a bit of help here. I know my If...Then...ElseIf statement is somehow off, but not sure how. Could someone point me in the right direction? I know I am almost there but need a nudge in the right direction.
I decided to take up the task of writing an app for Dungeons and Dragons. I play with my friends and I'm trying to make it a little bit easier. Before every round of combat players roll dice for Initiative. It basically tells the games manager who goes first and in what order the rest of the players go. When players roll for initiative they roll 20 sided dice. On Form1 I have a button that says "Initiative" which opens another window where the manager would type in each players values. Then I want the program to take those values and order the players from highest to lowest in a list on Form1. Kind of like...
Stuck programming a random number generator game. one is to guess what the random number. I have coded most of it and am pleased, but there are some hitches. a) When running the program if you guess 10 it says," Guess Higher" which is impossible as the num gen stops at 10 (if you guess 9 and the number is lower than 9 it says guess lower . . . which it is supposed to do)
b) When asked to play again if one clicks no it calls you a loser and exits the problem is it does the same if you click yes. How can I get it to simply start over if yes is clicked
c) Does anyone know how to make an image move up or down based on the input? IE if guess needs to be higher the image moves higher? Lower and it moves lower?
I successfully coded my up and down key so they move a paddle in a game of pong, however, when I press and hold up or down, the paddle will movie but has a delay before it starts to move. Is there anyway to remove this key press delay easily?
I already created a button "enjoy button" that i want to move in a form when the "timer start button" is clicked. how do link the timer to the "timer start button" and make it move?
I need to make a "Guess The Number Game." It needs to choose a random number between 1 to 1000. I need to change the color of the background to red if the number guessed gets closer to the correct answer. And if you are farther away the background color changes to blue. Basically hot if you are close and cold if you are far away. I also need to know what the default color of the background is so that when I press the start game or if I get the number correct the background color changes back to the default color. I though that the default color was WhiteSmoke but it is off a little bit.
Also, if I get the correct number the text box needs to be disabled. Then, when I press the start game button the text box needs to be enabled. I can't get the Hot and Cold part to work. I was just going to use something like if the number was either 50 off of the random number the background color would turn red. All other number would make it turn blue. Then when the correct number is entered the background color would change to Green.
Below is the code that I have. Public Class Form1 Dim randomGenerator As New Random Dim number As Integer Private Sub exitButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles exitButton.Click [Code] .....
im making a random number guessing game type thing, i have the main thing done, but I was just wondering, how could I get it to show the integer rndnumber in the message box that comes up? I think its something like &= or something, but I havn't even been using VB for a week, so im can't figure it out. Here is my script:
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If RadioButton1.Checked = True Then[code]......
I'm trying to teach myself how to create a Random Number Generator in Visual Basic 2008 using a menu system and I'm having difficulty with the following:If I type in a number above 100, I don't get a message appearing saying that the number that I typed is too high.I don't know what I need to code to start a new game. How do I get messages to show up when both pressing the "Check Me" button and using the "Give Me the Number" option to say whether the answer is correct or too high or too low.ful to hear them.
I have a timer that basically counts a number up in sequence in a label. On the On Text Change sub for the label I have functions run when the label is at a specific number. Everything works fine, the only problem I have is I have information pulled from an ODBC link to a pervasive database every second, which slows down the program. I have several flash components that run so slowly because of the data update. Now I have tried both using a dataset and coding the query but it is still ver slow and processor intensive, I think its because the Pervasive ODBC link is somewhat slow. Is there a way to have my data pull timer run in the background so that it doesnt effect the performance of the rest of the program?
I have a txtbox(for barcode).. if i input a item number in that txtbox and if that number will match in your database, the other information(shall we say, product type, item ID, etc..) will display in my other txtboxes..
