I have an array variable (string type). It contains certain no. of items, that I donot know how many they are. I need to run a loop for that many nos. that the array contains. I tried LBound and UBound loop but it says my array is not a system array. How can I know how many items my array contains?

I am having an issue with trying to calculate a running total from items in a listbox. I am getting an InvalidCastException with the btnCalc_Click event. I think I understand why I am getting this exception, just not sure exactly how I fix it.

ok, I have a "sum" for ading the total prices in list view. The prices are in the sub items. After they are added up ( they display as total: �{0}) how would I save them to add up later amongs other things I have saved in my.settings???
View 3 RepliesI've actually gotten this program running on paper, BUT, when I try to write a code for it, it doesn't work . . . somewhat . . . When the user clicks the compute button, the total value of inventory is computed by multiplying the cost per item times the quantity of the item and then adds the result to the value in an accumulator variable.

The quantity and cost per item is suppose to multiply each row, but it only multiplies the first row.
I'm in a beginner programming logic and technique class that also teaches us VB, and I'm working on a program that is to simulate total theater revenue, that asks for the number of tickets sold in a particular section and then displays the amount of sales generated from that section. It needs to validate that the total number of tickets sold is not over the maximum seating in that section.[code]
1) I have a warning that "Variable 'section' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime" in line 18.
2) Regardless of the changes I've made, I always end up getting "0" as my end result. I'm actually supposed to use the toString currency format function when getting my end result, but that was mixing me up so I figured I'd at least make sure the output is correct before I fix that part. I thought I was on the cusp of having this working but I think I'm confusing myself more and more the more I mess with it.
I loaded up a checkedListBox with items form a .txt file. The .txt file has itemName, ItemPrice. Every item that gets checked shows up in a listBox on another form. The problem that I am having though is that I need to accumulate the itemPrices of the selected items to show up in a textBox, but the only price that shows up is the price of the item in the checkedListBox that has the focus. I recently downloaded VB 2010 Express so i am quite new to the language, but i have worked with dark basic, which seems to b very similar.Anyway, my problem is that i cannot seem to correctly set out my array of a custom type/class. i am trying to create two arrays, one of available entities and another of selected entities of which the user selects the entities to be dealt with in irrelevant ways. i have creates a button (called test) which adds some entities to the available list and all the entities come back the same value but they shouldnt be as you'll c in the code. i have run the step into command a found that "available.item(#).Name = " will change all of the entity's names.As of current i am working with lists as the array kept asking for a 'new' statement but i couldnt figure out where to put it.[code]

I am having trouble trying to add the grand total arrays of number of passengers and the total cost into the list box...the way I have it right now it says for each city whatever the amount that was chosen in the combo box last and same thing with the price. I am thinking you have to use a loop of some kind to sort through all the cities and add them up individually.

I am working with VB 2008. I want to be able to run this program say in N: and it will show me in an excel sheet the following:
Folder Path Size(GB) Count of Files
N:Clients 0.53 308
where clients contains subfolders and files and the size is the total of all those files within each folder and the count is the total within each folder also.
This works fine as it is but i have to select one by one the top level folders and some of them are huge so it takes forever to give me an answer.
1) I would like to see in my spreadsheet the following by only select the network drive n:

2) I would also like to know if this is the faster method.
3) I tried adding a progress bar so that the user can have an idea of how much this will take but i had to remove because it was not working.

I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist.When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible.When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement.When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?

I'm in process of making a order calculator which will total any values you selected in combo boxes/checkboxes and then display it in a selected area. There are 3 things that I want to achieve: 1. Be able to add another total to an existing total (currently I'm able to see only one total when I hit "Calculate" button)2. if i generate a label dynamically i can change the text as followed, variable is a string: Form.Controls(variable).text = "test" I now have a sub that will create some and will get some information out of arrays. I have a lot of them. I only want the function for tat specific array. I do not want a case or if. Thats why i was wondering if i can use a variable in the array variable. When I bind this to my datagrid, I get the problem that I only see 2 columnsI've been tracing this problem and discovered that in the first row in the excel, there are only 2 values (cell C and D). I think the binding to datagrid looks at this first row to create its headers. This results in my datagrid only showing columns C and D.
