Tracking Files Copied To Removable Devices?
Nov 18, 2011I want to write a program that will log all the files that has been copied to removable device. I tried to work with FileSystemWatcher but I didn't get the result.

is fine for grabbing a graphic from the clipboard, but I'm after grabbing a file that's been copied there, either copied from explorer or from an email attachment from Outlook.
System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.GetFileDropList(0) is fine if it's been copied from Explorer, but fails if it's a mail attachment.

Feb 10, 2010I published an application and copied the Application Files Folder ,setup.exe and .application file to a network folder for others to install on their machines. What causes this message to appear. Should'nt the new version over write any previously installed version on a machine. Although in this case no other version has been installed. You cannot start application...from this location because it is installed from a different location

Jun 11, 2012Does anyone know of a way to contain a nonbreaking space in an html tag to allow me to remove it based on conditions tested during runtime in the code behind?
Basically why I need this: if a condition is satisfied I will have 4 buttons, but if it's not only three. I can remove the button but then I have 4 in-between 2 of the buttons instead of just 2 .
Something like the <del> tag would work if it didn't strike through the text.
Basically I have something like this(propery values not included for simplicity):

I can't have the function in the actual button tag because then it will render the   instead of the button text.

May 18, 2010I'm not sure if this would be this right place to post this, or even if I should go about trying to do it through my program itself or through the computer's settings on the final EXE file, but anyways, here goes.
I have a synchronization program that syncs my flashdrive to my home computer and (hopefully) my flashdrive to my personal folder on the school computers. What I think would be easiest, though, would be if the program was located on the flashdrive, and would simply "autorun" when I plug it in, instead of having 2 separate instances of the sync program running at school and at home.
Would it be easier (or possible) to code for that from within the program, or with the EXE file's settings?

When stepping through the code, serverDic(selection).Controls has 12 elements, but only 6 of them get copied. Next time this gets called, only 3 get copied. Does Panel1.Controls.clear() somehow kill the references?

Nov 18, 2011I'm trying to deploy my first program and I've run into the following trouble.The program uses an access database dbUserPractice.accdb. In debug mode, everything works fine.When I deploy, install and run the application, I get a System.TypeInitializationException (which I asked about in a separate thread). The inner exception is the following:

If I manually paste dbUserPractice.accdb in the directory above, the application runs ok. Why isn't the installer putting the file where the application will need it? The file is part of the downloaded install package (it is in the 'Application Files' folder as 'dbUserPractice.accdb.deploy')

For every post (row) in the db I also fill puts an instance of a Dropdownlist with items read from the db. That means that for every row I read from the database I read the same db info into the Dropdownlist (see the skeleton example below). A lot of overhead I think. It must be possible to create the Dropdownlist once before the loop and copy from that instance in the loop.

How To Get A Program To Wait Until A File Is Copied
Nov 5, 2010Code is below. I am designing this code to transfer a file at a specified time. Right now, I have it sending me an email when it succeeds for test purposes. It will be only when the file copy fails later.
Here's my question: how can I get the program to wait until the file copy is complete to report success or failure? Right now I'm using exists to see if it works, but some other method of checking the file will be built in later. Eventually, this will be deployed to various locations for a bit of automated backup.
