Searching For A Word In A Text File Returns The Word And The Sentence Plus A Bunch Of Other Weird Characters?
Nov 8, 2010I can search for the word Love in an .rtf file and return every occurance of the word into a RichTextBox. It returns the word and the scripture the word is in, but it also isreturning a bunch of weird text like: archan78988yykp etc etc. How do I onlyreturn the scripture with the searchedword, in this case the searched word is love. The code I am using is as follows:

May 10, 2009I have been trying to use vb2008 to automatically update CustomDocumentProperties fields that I have set up within a pro-forma document. I can load the Word application and word document without problems.I want to update the CustomDocumentProperties fields with data read from a dB. To do this I am assuming that I need to iterate through the CustomDocumentProperties fields within the word document and when one is "found" that matches the data I wish to merge then assign the dB value to the field.The problem is that I am getting an exception error when I try to reference the document customdocumentproperties

Sep 19, 2011We have an interactive windows based application written in VB .Net 2010. It uses Word Object to display documents in MS Word. We have a form with a button. When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

Jan 15, 2012I have a VB.net application that gets data off our server with ODBC and populates and saves a Word Document. When I try to deploy it to another computer it will get the data just fine and populate the first document, but it will crash before saving it. I've installed the .net framework 4.0, Microsoft Data Access Components, and the Microsoft ODBC .net data Provider. The error code is 0xC0000005, which is from what I can see is called an "Access Violation Exception." It works fine on my computer.

.net - RegEx To Match "whole Word" Returns Exception?

end if but i get this Argument exception
parsing "Serial)" - Too many )'s. I do understand the error, but how should i modify the RegEx expression?
UPDATE. The word "Serial)" is generated dynamically. That means at least for me i could get another exception for another character too.
Application.ProductVersion Always Returns 1.0.0.0?
Oct 25, 2010On the publish tab of My Project the correct current version is there, 1.1.0.0 and in Programs and Features under Control Panel it shows 1.1.0.0 but when I reference Application.ProductVersion I get 1.0.0.0.

May 2, 2012One of our technicians asked my to write a small library file in which he would pass a filename and an integer. The library would load the text file and find the integer in the text file referenced by the file name and return a string back to his program. He is working in a third party application that uses VB as its scripting language.So, not wanting to worry about the .net install on some of the older machines that he has his equipment installed on I decided to take a crack at C++ (VS 2010). I am doing applications development in C# and the last time I compiled any C++ code was in VS 6, but I though how hard can it be? Well I am typing here so things have taken a decidedly wrong turn. I started out with the C++ Side.

If I pass a String to a BSTR as a parameter then pass it back again (like the file name) then the VB side reads in the entire string.
IDE - My.Application.Info.Version.Build Returns Wrong Value
Mar 6, 2009We're using team build with AssemblyInfoTask to increment the build number in a nightly build. The build number is displayed in the application using My.Application.Info.Version.Build.This has been working fine for years. But since we branched the sources and started using file references instead of project references (have no idea if that's what causes the problem), the last build number is displayed instead of the current one.
The compiled files (dll's and exe's) have the correct build number, if checked by right clicking the file in Explorer and viewing detailed properties. However when the same exe-file is executed, the UI displays the previous build number.If I edit the AssemblyInfo.vb file manually (just set another number, save the file, and set it back again), both file properties in Explorer and the UI at runtime displays the correct build number. How can this happen? What can be done to avoid this strange behavior?
System.Environment.UserName Property Returns Nothing After Publishing Application?

System.Environment.UserName But when I ran application using visual studio, it works without any problem. But when I publish application & try to run it, it get System.Environment.Username value as nothing.
cause of this issue? Or any other alternative to get current system logged in username.

I have a form with 2 buttons (button 2 uses the OpenFileDialog to have the user open an excel file set to NewFile),(button 1 takes the contents from specific cells in NewFile and arranges them how I need into oXLApp1).
The error I get is "Unable to cast object of type 'System.IO.FileStream' to type 'Excel.Application'." in line 14 of the code below.

Nov 8, 2010I am in the process of writing a win forms desktop app in VB.net that employs user data in the form of rich text, stored internally as an object and then serialised to an XML file for persistent storage purposes.
To create the user data (the application's "document" it might be called), I have written a seperate app that tries to be a word processor and then saves the text in my XML format that can then be opened and used in the main app.
Is there a way I can use Word to do this? Perhaps by writing an add-in or template? Just to clarify, the format of the rich text would just be a table, I then need to save this in my XML format, or save the text as my object then serialize it to file.

After the document / spreadsheet etc. is shown, I mark what I need to, then, I have a button which closes the current process, and returns me to my default application interface. All this is working, except for the .doc files, Word files.
Everytime I launch word, I get the Document recovery pane.

As a last resort ( and this doesn't work ), because WordDocument.close does not work, Word Application. Quit does not work! By, saying it doesn't work, means it closes everything, yes, but the Document Recovery PAne always shows up, and I can't understand why! Is there some way of disabling it completely
I know some will say it is not a good idea, I know, I know I really need to get rid of it.
