Changing Unknown Number Of Label Captions Using Unknown Length Array
Oct 22, 2009Using Access 2003 and VB code, I have created a form with a number of labels. The labels will display an employee's names. I have named the labels name1, name2, name3...etc. Using an ADO data set and DCount I have determined the number of names in an Access table (the number of names can vary). What I want to do is for each record in succession to pick the first name and surname from the data set , combine them into a full name (this part has been successful), and then set the full name into the label caption in succession. Example: full name 1 into name1, full name 2 into name2, full name 3 into name3... until all names appear as labels on the form.
I created a counter to and a variable to increment the label number but when I address the caption property of the variable containing the new label (e.g. name1, name2..etc.) it throws an errer at runtime. Here is the code:

Errror Handing Different In Vb 2008?
Jun 17, 2009This code should generate an error when executed but the form opens as if nothing is wrong and of course the message is not displayed. Why didn't the divide by zero exception occur?The error handling works fine in XP. The problem appears to be in Vista. I am running Vista 64 when I have this problem.

However the way it is accomplished is that the user will be able to select the database (i.e. the database can be located anywhere in the hard drive) and once he or she selects the database, a second interface would allow him or her to select the number of tables within that database (can be any number of tables). Once the table is selected the contents of the table will be loaded into the datagrid. It is just like opening an Access (.mdb) file and then click and open a table within the file except that it is done programatically

This is simple other than I'm trying to be efficiant as possible, so I made a sub that creates the textbox and the button calls the sub. Here is where it gets tricky I want the new textbox to move just below the previouse textbox, I'm not sure how to do this since Im only really createing one textbox over and over and having a variable name it by one. EDIT: Additional Information The first time I posted this question, I received only one response - I felt that perhaps I made the question too specific. I guess I will explain more, I have an ASP page with 10 tables on it. I am trying, using the VB code behind, to come up with a single solution to add new rows to any table. When the user clicks a button, a generic "add row" function should be called.
The difficulty lies in the fact that I have no guarantee of the contents of any table. A new row will have the same contents as the row above it, but given that there are 10 tables, 1 row could contain any number of objects - text boxes, check boxes, etc. So I want to create a generic object, make it of the same type as the row above it, then add it to a new cell, then to a new row, then to the table.

Focusing Window With Unknown Title?
Mar 27, 2012I'm trying to focus and bring a window with an unknown caption/title to the front. The window is in a clinical application that we use, so I don't think there's any way I can do it inside the framework, as we get this application from a vendor. The window will always start with "Member - ". I have code below that I have used in the past to find a window and focus it when I know exactly what the title is.. but in this case I don't know what the title is. Does anyone know of another API call that I can use to search through all windows and compare their titles as text to see if any of them match the text I'm trying to compare with?

Jul 20, 2011I need help in understanding this architecture. The person who wrote it is long gone and I'm stuck to figure it out. We are creating an object in some code from some random workflow in the web application (unimportant for my question). The object is being instantiated from a class found in a Designer.vb file. I couldn't initially see the file until I clicked the "show all files" in Solution Explorer in Visual Studio. There are 3 files linked together.. a *.xsd file, a *.Designer.vb file and a *.xsx file. The *.Designer.vb file looks to be auto-generated.
Goal:Get dbo.note.text from the dbo.note table column and place it in the dbo.exportnote.text column. I just don't understand how it's connecting to the database and getting the data from the dbo.note.text field. I want to make the query more specific (possibly put a where clause on it). But really I just want to understand how it's communicating with the database. Most of the code uses stored procedures. So I'm confused on the architecture. What would be really cool is if you can explain how this code was autogenerated. It appears that the *.xsd file is an XML file when I "View in Browser" from the Solution Explorer.Code to instantiate object of designer class:

Sep 6, 2011My program reads a 3rd party data text file and I give the user the ability to add a row. The problem I am having is one users text file contains an extra tab at the end of each datarow thereby creating an extra column when i view it in DataGridView it gets labled "NoName"

It will continue reading data and once the data is found, it will pass me the data to a function let's say functionnd I call a delegate functionB from this functionA.And at some point this functionB throw me an error of "Collection was modified; enumeration operation might not execute.".Does anyone know what this mean?I google it and found that this error was caused by "For Each or For" loop.But in my program I don't have any for loop.
