Jquery - Ajax Post Method Not Working?
Dec 20, 2010I am using jquery so using ajax to post data, but for some reason when i click on submit, the page doesnt go from aspx to aspx.vb on the back side.here's my code -

new_class is my webmethod in the vb.net side. Now if i put an alert in the btnsave onclick function, i see the firstname value in the alert. But the page does not call the new_class function after that.

Dec 5, 2011I have a User Control which renders a simple drop downList into the page.By default, only certain values are returned depending on User Details, but the user may request a "full" list.I'd like this full list to be generated by pressing a reload button.Being new to .NET I am struggling to get this to work and not really understand the results I get when Googling or finding stuff on this site. Is Classic ASP I'd have made a page that renders this and called it using jQuery

May 25, 2010The code below works "correctly" as far as sending the email address to the SaveEmail URL and it gets saved correctly each time I change the drop down. However it only outputs the "Successful" message once, no matter how many times I change the value in the drop down. The "data" that is returned is "Successful". I would like to show the message for a couple seconds, then fade it out. It works correctly the first time I change the drop down, after that the change happens and the value gets saved, but the "Successful" message doesn't display.

Jquery - AJAX Call Is Incrementing Itself By +1 Each Time It's Called?
May 7, 2012I have a piece of JQuery AJAX that calls a VB.NET code-behind (class) that returns string data. It grabs some latest stats on a particular server. Now the code works, but the first time I press the refresh button data is returned and the alert "Refreshed" is shown on screen.
But if I press it again, the alert box "Refreshed" is shown twice, I click again three times! and on and on, until the time-out kicks in.It seems to be coming from the AJAX call and no where else. I'm at a loss at what could be calling this, I've tried deleting the data returned after success but no joy.

Jquery - Ajax Query Not Firing Because It's Generating The Wrong URL
May 14, 2009The following code populates a second dropdown when the first dropdown changes (i.e. cascading dropdowns). However, the Ajax call isn't firing, and I can't figure out why. I'm not getting any syntax or runtime errors. When in debug mode, the GetPlans action is never being called. The inner alert is never called, but the outer one is. To make matters worse, this same setup is working elsewhere in my app! Here's all the pertinent pieces (let me know if I've left out some important details):

May 10, 2011i have a jQuery AJAX webmethod in ASP.Net that works perfectly fine when tested locally. but when uploaded to the server, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. when i debugged the code with firebug i see the the webmethod gets called but jumps right away to the error section of the ajax script.

Does anyone know how to solve the following.I need to pass an instance to client side and then pass it to a shared method in order to access instance methods from when the shared method.The starting point is a fileupload control within the HTML of my Contacts.aspx file:

Posting A Form To A Web Method With JQuery?

I have been experimenting with converting my code-behind "save to database" function into a Web Method. I am using a two-step function method, firstly preparing all the variables from Request.Form("parameterName") and then passing them all into a "saveData" function as follows:

From the post mentioned above, I can see I can send this string, but how do I process it server-side when recieved? The article implied that HttpContext.Current.Request.Form("parameterName") should work, but it doesn't... I'm guessing because I need to access it from the txtQuery variable..
Asp.net - Dealing With Data Returned By A Web Method As JSON With JQuery?
Jan 13, 2012[URL] Using this I have managed to use Server Side Web Methods to perform actions with AJAX.In most instances, I just need it to do stuff (save things to a database for example) so don't need to do anything with the response, but now I've come across a situation where I do, and I can't work it out!The Web Method returns a JSON object, which looks like this:

This is the output shown from Firebug. I am not sure what the 's are, but bear with it...The AJAX call and attempt at outputting this response is:

And several other variations from info I have found on Google and SO, but it seems to treat the results variable as a string, not an array, and the output I get on the alerts is each individual character, ie;

So I wondered if results needed to be converted to JSON again (though I don't know why) so I tried
results = $.parseJSON(data.d)
But that didn't work either.

And it is supposed to read multiple lines from LimFile and send it to a string in VB.NET.Problem is that when I debug it, I see the string is there in full length. And when I split it with vbNewLine, it shows that theres only 1 line, aka nothing is split, like the newlines have been lost.
Changing Unknown Number Of Label Captions Using Unknown Length Array
Oct 22, 2009Using Access 2003 and VB code, I have created a form with a number of labels. The labels will display an employee's names. I have named the labels name1, name2, name3...etc. Using an ADO data set and DCount I have determined the number of names in an Access table (the number of names can vary). What I want to do is for each record in succession to pick the first name and surname from the data set , combine them into a full name (this part has been successful), and then set the full name into the label caption in succession. Example: full name 1 into name1, full name 2 into name2, full name 3 into name3... until all names appear as labels on the form.
I created a counter to and a variable to increment the label number but when I address the caption property of the variable containing the new label (e.g. name1, name2..etc.) it throws an errer at runtime. Here is the code:
