I have a asp.net VB code to insert draft/saved messages into a a new table created for draft messages database. I want to check if the the record exists before it is saved. So i have made a function (selecting the unique record ) .Now how do i call this function and update the values, it is showing me the error 'Conversion from string "srno" to type 'Integer' is not valid."
I'm developing a system and the system contains an update function to update the DB. I have performed all the coding but have some minor problem in my SQL Statement and I'm unable to detect the SQL Statement Error. Hope someone could rectify the problem.
This is related to "Next form won't display" topic. What I want is instead of calling other form I'll just want to combine the two functions into one button.Condition is: If database is empty then insert function execute but if database is not empty then update data. I have codes below but it gave me error saying "The connection was not closed. The connection's current state is open."
i create a Class to update data from remote sql server to local compact sql server data. I write two method one method check if any update date in remote server method like..[code]Last i Call SaveLocalDatabase method. But When i check table in my local compact sql server database there has no data update.is any think missing to write. i Think i found a problem. i use LocalTable.Merge(dTable, True). When Merge Call then rowstate remain unchange.
I have a situation where I have several VB.NET Modules in the same Logical-Module of a large application. I would like the update function of each module to be public, but I would like users to be forced to qualify the function call with the module name.
ModuleName.Update() instead of Update() Is this possible?
I am working on a simple programme that has a dataset linked combobox that changes the contents of a datagridview when the SelectedIndexChanged event on the combobox occurs. (i.e. you select a client in the combobox and it shows you all of the orders they have placed in the datagrid view). I have got the two set up and displaying the data but cant get it to update back to the database when I add a record to the datagrid view.
Here is my Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim cs As New OleDbConnection("Provider= microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0; data source=C:VB wind wind.mdb") Dim ds As New DataSet [Code] .....
Is it because the second data adaptor uses a variable in its sql string which only shows the current record of the combobox? If so how do I get around this and update the records added to the datagrid?
My boss has just asked me to make an "Update Program Function" for our program. My program is being used by someone in my company. The database is put on server computer. At the present, my program run by some dll file, and when I fix or update the source code, i will compile to dll and put it on the server disk. After that, the users will go to this server disk and copy the new dll and overwrite the old dll in their client computer.
Now my boss asked me to make an "Update Program Function" : before the user login, the program will check the version (or the creation date) of the dll in the server disk, if it newer than the current dll, the program will update the new dll, else the program login normally How can i do that?
I think I have a timing issue. On the trigger of an event I call a function to update a value:
Private Sub t0_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles t0.Click Input.ppProperty = "blank" UpdateRecord("Hey", Input.ppProperty) MsgBox(Input.ppProperty) End Sub [Code] .....
Notice the difference, the property does not update until the function is completely finished. Why?
I have a variable number of usercontrol on a form Each time the user interact with one of the controls, I need to update a global state on the form. Each time I write a new control, I added a call to the Update function, but don't like it. I may add a new control and forget to write the call. Worse, I are repeating the call many times.
It does not look good.I changed all the user control to inherit from a class in which I coded a LostFocus event, updating the global state each time the used abandon the control, but it does not work if the user does not migrate to another control, and the updating is not interactive meanwhile the user is editing the control.
[Code]...
but none of them fires after the user had interacted without losing focus; or I are wrong?
Updating the TextBox from a Thread that calls a function within a Class does not work. I'm trying to get this to work in a DLL (but I tried without as well). The DLL is accepting an Object as an argument[code]....
I have a label inside an update panel which I wouldl ike to use as a status bar.Basically the user clicks a button which executes a main fucntion that performs a series of tasks. I'd like to inform the user as to the state of the function as it progresses e.g.:
I've tried updating the updatepanel directly from the function but it only updates the panel at the end of function (stage 4) and shows "Done!" (which I understand is how it should work).I've been looking into timers and threads to try and update the panel separate to the main function?
I am pulling information out of my Access Database and reading to a webpage. I need to add a update, delete, and email function to this page. I am trying to do this with the selection of a check box and buttons for each one. But I am unable to get the delete to do anything but redirect back to the orignal page. For the update I want to be able to pull the info in text boxes and just change the info and click update and it gets changed. I also want to be able to pull their email from the database and put it into a text box to be able to email right from the page. Code for show page and delete page below.
I have implemented the filestream feature of SQL Server 2008 in a VB.Net application. I can insert files, and then retrieve/view them just fine. However, I have huge problems trying to update a file. Eg. The user selects a file from the grid which I execute via process.start. If that file is a .txt file, the user may choose to edit it. In case that happens, I need to save the changed file back to the database. So far I have failed to do that.
What I do, is take the retrieved file, copy it (cause i got some errors about it being used), and then Process.Start it. After that, via .NET filestream, I convert the file to bytes and try to update the record. SQL Profiler and a manual SELECT on the varbinary(max) column tell me that the file is updated properly, but the very next try to retrieve it I get an unchanged file.
After that I also tried to update the file by changing its File-System Version, but the file still wouldn't seem to update. Does Anyone have a code sample of how I can achieve this operation? Like 500 sites on the internet have examples of how to Insert And Retrieve the file, but not a single example on how to update. This is how my second attempt of trying to update the file via the filesystem looks like. The code for inserting/retrieving is very similar and it works properly. [Code]
I am developing an application that Monitors a specific folder for file changes such as modify deletion, update, etc. The only problem I have is , the application doesn't fire up File events.
I have a csv file that needs to be automatically updated on a daily basis. I am writing a vb.net app to accomplish this. However, Im having issues with the entire process.I need to be able to read in a csv file, manipulate the data and then update the existing file. I have dabbled with using the Excel objects but I need some assistance.
I create a project using query sql ( Select, Update,Delete,Insert ) in many various way. example by Select with condition ..etc someone work in programing field. tell me that you are not profession in using vb.net , because you have to use OOP instead all of these Sql query. because if you want to make any update on your program after start to work on the Pc you will open your project on design and change the code. but in OOP you will make update on class and then put it as DLL file in the file of program.
I'm making a game in Gamemaker and i'm using VS2010 to create a launcher for it. The launcher works like the Minecraft launcher:
it has to check a file from my server, then compare it to the local file, and if they aren't the same, the launcher has to re-download the game.exe from the server.
This all has to happen when i click play. To make the game start i use Process.Start(My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory & "\game.exe") i've put the game in the solution explorer.
put 'copy to output directory' to 'copy always'. i appareantly had to do that according to a tutorial to launch game.exe. Now, as i've said, i'm quitte new to VS 2010.
I am working on a program using VB.Net 2010 which will enable me to setup groups of files & folders for back up with syncing capabilities etc. I have a concept program which is based on some sample code I found out in one of the VB.Net forums. I have modified it from a command line based program to a form based program. At the moment I consider this code to be a "concept" program which once I have the various copy/sync routines developed and debugged will be integrated in to another program I wrote for creating "Back Up" groups to automate the process. There are some 3rd party programs that do similar things that I want to do such as Microsofts Sync Toy, but none of them offer the grouping and exclusions options that I am going to program in to this backup/sync program.
So here is my problem, I have the included code taking two folders, a source and a destination, and copying everything from the source to the destination. It will skip over any unchanged files/folders and will delete anything found in the destination folder that is not found in the source folder and it will update all files in the destination folder that have a newer version in the source folder. In other words it will mirror image the source to the destination but will be smart enough not to copy unchanged items from the source to the destination thereby saving a lot of time. The sync part of the program is working fine, the displaying of the progress and results is not.
I want to make an numerical integration method with takes in an analytic function and integrate it over a specific interval. For the numerical integration procedure I want to use some procedures in nr.com. The problem is that these are programmed in C++ and they uses functors to pass a function to the integration method. How can I do this in VB 2010?
I want to initialize the function (i.e. set a=1,b=0 for function y(x)=a*x+b) and then pass the function to the integration method. Then when the integration method call the function it only calls the function with one parameter (i.e. x since a,b is already set)
What is the best way to do this in VB2010?I want to make a general integration method where I can pass any single valued function and integration limits.
I have just started using VB, and from what I have found so far it seems like the tools you have is
- to us a delegate for the function - to use a lambda expression for the function - send a pointer/adressOf - to create a function class/structure and submit this to the function
As for now I am most inclined to create a function-class. But I am not really sure how.F.ex. I make different classes for each "uniqe function" I want to integrate, but how can I pass them to the integration function when I need to specify the argument type in the integration-function-call?This seems like a basic problem which applies to many Math operations, so I think it would be very useful to clarify this.
I'm trying to undersatnd the syntax of calling a funciton and it seem confusing when I'm using a web service in ASP.net. Maybe this question should be in an ASP forum, but it is a VB question. This simple web service allows you to type in your name and it response with an alert box with you name.
My question is, How can you call a function with 2 arguments when the function is only defined for one. I understand that the second argument is actually a method that handling the respons, but how can you interchange function arguments for methods and how do you know that there are methods for
i used to know a way of updating a file by adding some code in the form load and change the version of the file . and than you upload the exe to a site. but most sites now days dont allow to upload exe . is there any other way to update a file.
The following code writes some data on an xml file. If I want to write on the same file twice the code overwrites the old data with new ones. How do I update the data instead of overwriting them? (i.e., write at the end of the xml file instead of overwriting the data)
Dim XMLobj As Xml.XmlTextWriter Dim enc As New System.[Text].UnicodeEncoding() XMLobj = New Xml.XmlTextWriter("C:" & current_scen & ".xml", enc)
I have a csv file. I need to open it, delete whole row on basis of a column value, Update few of the column values and save the file as .dat file. I am using VB.net 2010
How do i create an update file for my existing application.
for example : i made an application that have 2 or 3 function which is lock or disable. when people want to unclock the function, they have to install or run updater application (in EXE). so how do i create this UPDATER application for unlock the function?.
So i want to be able to change the information on the datagride and when i click update i want it to update to the db file. However I get the messege "The DataAdapter.SelectCommand property needs to be initialized." Here is my code:
Public Class Form10 Dim constr As String = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;" & "Data source = test.accdb"
my application reads from an .xls file I put on google sites. The problem comes when the application modifies a cell and tryes to save the file on the site, actually it does nothing since to read something from the site is easy, while trying to save something requires a connection with username and password.
So, how can I pass the username and the password to the application? and even most important, can I encrypt it so that the person who uses my application could not see the real trafic details with a http sniffer?Right now I am using this code:
Dim xlApp As Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook Dim xlWorkSheet As Excel.Worksheet
