Update MySQL Field In Program?

I am trying to update a field in my MySQL database using VB.NET.....
Basically, I can read the field's content, using this code:
SQL = "SELECT * FROM `boomtable` WHERE `Tab1` = 'CLOSED'"
However, I want to update the Tab1 field to have the value OPEN if it's currently closed, and make the value CLOSED if it's currently OPEN.. Right now, it's CLOSED, (I put the value in manually when making my table)
Here is the code I'm using that changes my label based on the Tab1 field's value that works fine... Except I want to actually make it update the field in the database in addition to changing the label text.[code]...

I want to change the DoNotMail boolean value represented by a Gridview checkbox and automatically update in the database if the checkbox is checked from 0 (False, Will Mail) to 1 (True, Won't Mail) here is the code I used. [code]...
is it possible to do a two way sync on the entire gridview when the user hits a button so you don't have to do an update every time a row is changed? because the user might check the box and then check another box then uncheck a box and it would be a lot of updates...

still having problems with mysql... im trying to find out how i can you a for each statement when getting data from mysql table...i have a table with IP and Port fields in... i want to get each and every one of the ip's and use it...for each ip in heat table and then run my "query()" function how can i do this in vb.net?... i can get ALL ips and ports and put in a gridview but would like to use the ip and display the Game Server Data that my query() function gets...this is from a while back when i made my Game Server Browser and just tryiong to make a better way of keeping my ip and port data and mysql seams to be the best way as its online and it can be added to and edited as and when needed and no one has to "redownload" anything?

Im trying to push (for what of a better word) the output of a button which is in a text box to a field within mysql. I have followed the tutorial on here for connecting to a mysql database. And I have also followed and it works the tutorial for getting data from mysql to a form. But I cant find anything on how to achieve the reverse of this - populating a field with data/text from a textbox.

I got a Mysql sql database for my project. The id field is set as auto increment, which seems to function correctly. But on the form in my text field and datagrid i see a negative number, while in the database its a postitive number. I do not really plan to use the id field right now, but when i do it might cause some problems.
Anybody know why it would show as a negative number on the form(textbox/gridview) and as a positive in the actual database?

I'm having a problem with a MySQL query for returning the "last visit" field in a table.Originally I had:select fname, lname, last_visit from patient where isactive = 1 and uid = 1Which worked perfectly in MySQL, but as soon as the query is executed by my ASP.NET app, it adds in the time field also to the date area. Ok so I have a Mysql dsetup called in-out and I have written a vb.net client program to get information from the table in the database, display it in a data grid view, and then allow to user to edit this information and update it on the server. Right now I am hosting the server on my Gateway laptop and also connecting to it from the same laptop therefore I'm using localhost as the server name. My problem is that when I go into the program and change the information and click update, nothing happens... the information stays the same yet there is no sign of an error, syntax failure, or program crash.
I've tried running this on another computer in my house and i get the same results. I can access the information without a hitch but updating it is where I run into trouble. If there was a problem with my code it would have displayed some sort of error or asked me to debug my script, which would have made it a lot easier to solve, therefore i am certain that it has something to do with my database. Before I got to this step, i kept getting an error when retrieving the information that said something like

I have a general ledger branch file mtn. form in vb 2008. I am using a datagrid that is bound to an sql 2008 table using a dataset. In the grid I am allowing the user to update 6 of the fields in the table. The table also has a date last changed field. Who do I get the date last changed field changed to the current date for only the rows in the grid that have changed?

I am accepting the amount value from the user.
