View 3 RepliesI have an object databound to a WinForm. One property, BOLNumber is bound to a textbox on the form. When you change the value in the form, the underlying BOLNumber property is changed. But the property setter does some "formatting" to the value. I want to BOLNumber textbox to reflect the changes to the value made in the property setter immediately upon the textbox losing focus. I tried implementing the INotifyPropertyChanged interface, but I am either doing something wrong or misunderstanding something it would seem. How do I get the databound control to reflect the changes to the underlying data source?
Public Event PropertyChanged As PropertyChangedEventHandler _
Implements INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged

I was wondering if it was possible to make a program edit itself and save kind of like memory however unlike memory it can add content as well as save it.
I know it seems crazy but, i was wondering
I'm sure there is a pretty simple answer to this, or at least I hope there is.I've created a data source (Teradata table) and opted not to save any username or password info when doing so with the "Add data source wizard" the reason for this is because the passwords change every 3 months. I have a form that is bound to the data source (teradata database) but when opened i receive the message "[Teradata Database] [8017] The UserId, Password or Account is invalid." because there is no username or password data saved. For example, i can open a linked table (the same table) via access and i'm prompted to enter a password (ODBC connection).

I have created a DLL that contains basic functions used in my projects. With the DLL I:Compiled it as a Release Moved the .dll file to another folder Deleted the .pdb files in the binRelease folder When I add the reference of this DLL to my projects and I debug my code, I step through line-by-line and when it comes to a function from my DLL, it actually opens up the source files of my DLL and debugs line-by-line in the DLL source code.
This is REALLY annoying for my purposes and I have tried many things now to disable the debugger stepping into my DLL code. I did a text search in the DLL file and found it stores the path of the project folder.
So far the only thing that's worked is moving/renaming the folder where the DLL project source files are. But everytime I re-build the DLL, once again I would have to move/rename the folder again as it's updated the location of the source.
I have seen a few open source c# "Text code editor controls" that have auto indent and support contractions (+ - things you see in the code window to contract an if statement for example).

How can i make my form to navigate into the source code and get the link beside config word . I know it is possible to do it , just don't know the function to do it .
I've made a windows form in which I can change names in my databasetable 'stations'. To select which station to change I've used a databound ComboBox which gets all stations from the database table.
Now when I change the name of a station I want to get it immediatly updated in my combobox without restarting the application.
I have a combobox where the SelectedValue on the combo is bound to a property on a business object.Everything works fine, but the property that's bound to the SelectedValue on the combo only gets updated when the focus leaves the control. I understand that the property doesn't get updated until the control is validated (loses focus), but I need it to update the datasource as soon as the dropdown is closed.I know I could probably leave focus from the control on the DropDownClosed event but I'd prefer something a little less kludgy.What's the best way to immediately update my datasource when the dropdown is closed?

View 1 RepliesHow do I convert a VB4 source code to VB10 source code?
View 3 RepliesI've already found evidence of another having this problem. You can see this on this post by someone else:
http:groups.google...096b3fcaa?pli=1
The problem is that when one navigates the combobox via the keyboard, the combobox's information doesn't update. If you click a value with your mouse, though, everything works wonderfully. The link I've mentioned suggests changing the binding from the Text property to the SelectedItem property. I'm very deep into this project and it would be a bit of a nuisance to change the setup so as to allow it to be bound to the SelectedItem property.What I'm wondering is whether or not I can detect the user changing the selected entry in the combobox and tell VB that they "clicked" the value, if that makes any sense.
I don't know what this is called so I've struggled to find an answer from google but I have a vague memory of it from t'old days.I've sub-classed (* see below) about 8 framework controls, overriden some properties and added some functionality into each one.The changes I have made are identical in every case. If I make a change, I have to go through each class and apply the same change there.I was hoping there may be a keyword such as <IncludeSourcefile "common.vb> that I can put into each class.
(* note) I use the term sub-classed but I don't know if that's the correct terminology. I've also seen it used for call-backs. Is sub-classed the correct term to use?

As a follow up to my question Looping through a repeater control to get values of Textbox in asp.net
If user has entered a a quantity in the textbox, I want to get the corresponding ProductID value from the repeater control:
[Code]...
I am using FindControl to loop through the textbox (to see if user has entered a valid quantity). How can I get the value of the corresponding ProductID ?
I have a user control inside of a repeater that is being bound by a sqldatasource. I get the following error: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. EDIT: NEVERMIND Egg on my face. I was getting this databind error because I was binding it somewhere else in an effort to troubleshoot my real problem from last friday but I forgot about it.
WHAT MY REAL PROBLEM IS: The usercontrol is getting bound before the properties get set so it appears as if they are never set. When stepping through I see that they get on the property is hit before the set on the property is hit. For example if I put <%# EVal("Address_ID") %> before the user control I will see the ID displayed but then the user control will display an emptydatatemplate because it is being passed the ID of 0.

I've been having trouble converting the following fairly straight forward c# code into vb.net 4.0, which I understand has anonymous delegates. I just havn't been able to figure it out yet.
_combo.DataBound += (sender, args) =>
{
var item = _combo.FindItemByValue(values[0].ToString());
if (item != null)
[code]...
I have tried the following
_combo.DataBound += Function(sender, args)
Dim item = _combo.FindItemByValue(values(0).ToString())
If item IsNot Nothing Then
[code]...
But the compiler complains that DataBound can not be called directly, but has to be called with RaiseEvents
<%If (Eval("NewPrice")) =0 Then%>
<% Session("OrigenalPrice") = True%>
<asp:Label ID="Pricelabel" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Price") %>' />
<%Else%>

I need to quickly demonstrate a project and decided to create a user control that is connected to an Access database through pure simple data connections (create the dataset and drag it on the control.)When I build the project and add the usercontrol to panel control on the main form, no data is shown in the datagrid.When I add the data components directly on the main form, the data is displayed properly. why I can't get my databound user control to display the data on my main form?

aGuestsTableAdapter.Update(guestsDataSet)

My issue is as follows.I have 3 Textboxes bound to 3 fields in a Dataset. TextBox_Rate , TextBox_Hours , TextBox_Salary .What i needed was for TextBox_Rate + TextBox_Hours to be = TextBox_Salary . found out that this can be achieved by use of a Multibinding and a Converter .The Multibinding looks as follows:
<TextBox FontSize="14.667" HorizontalAlignment="Right" HorizontalContentAlignment="Right" Style="{StaticResource TextBoxStyle}">
<TextBox.Text>

I am developing a VB.Net windows application to replace a legacy Access database. I started with the legacy database (.mdb) and made changed to tables (like deleting unused columns) and changing anniversaries from 3 columns (day, month, and year) to DataTime etc recognized the need to import data from the legacy system at the time when the new one goes live and wrote an import dialog to do this. And this is where my problem is. The importer correctly imports the data and writes new tables, but each time I restart the application I have the old data back.
This is the approach I took:
In the load event I fill each tableadapter in the new (target) dataset as follows:
Me.ClientInfoTableAdapter1.Fill(Me.DataSet1.ClientInfo)

I have an existing project written in VB.NET using Visual Studio 2005 communicating to a SQL Server 2005 database. The database was migrated to a sql server 2008 r2 on a different physical server so the dataset's server name needs to be updated. I do not have access to the database anymore. is there a way to just update the server name without invoking the dataset wizard and requiring a connection to the database?
UPDATE: I tried to created a new project with just a button with the command calling the following subroutine to test the connection from a windows app to the sql server database. here is the sub:
Public Conn as New ADODB.Connection
Public Sub PubSubConnectToDB()
Conn.Open("Server=w2k54

I am able to created a system dsn on the same server with the same credentials and test the connection successfully.

is there any working examples of implementing add/update/delete using the binding source?
i have a datagridview that has a bindingsource as its datasource and i am wanting to provide Add/Update/Delete functionality on the grid itself. Each record has a delete button which when clicked will remove the row and then add/edit is performed in the grid itself
the user then clicks a save/commit button that will then perform the nessecary updates on all rows
my initial plan was to have a copy of the data (iList) and then compare this to the contents of the binding source data to confirm whether to add/update or delete the record
also upon clicking the delete button i cant get it to remove the row from the datagridview. it thought i could do something like this...
Private Sub dgvDocumentTemplates_CellContentClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DataGridViewCellEventArgs)
If (e.ColumnIndex = 6) And (e.RowIndex <> dgvDocumentTemplates.Rows.Count - 1) Then

I have several combo boxes which are mapped to the same datasource (an array), when user selects one combo box, all other boxes are get updated to the same selection too. what is the problem?
