I've made a windows form in which I can change names in my databasetable 'stations'. To select which station to change I've used a databound ComboBox which gets all stations from the database table.
Now when I change the name of a station I want to get it immediatly updated in my combobox without restarting the application.

View 3 RepliesI have a combobox where the SelectedValue on the combo is bound to a property on a business object.Everything works fine, but the property that's bound to the SelectedValue on the combo only gets updated when the focus leaves the control. I understand that the property doesn't get updated until the control is validated (loses focus), but I need it to update the datasource as soon as the dropdown is closed.I know I could probably leave focus from the control on the DropDownClosed event but I'd prefer something a little less kludgy.What's the best way to immediately update my datasource when the dropdown is closed?
View 2 RepliesI have radio buttons set up with different prices behind them.
When I change the radio button, the label clears but continues to add on the last price from before, therefore giving the wrong "subtotal" as such.
I have tried Subtotal.Text = "" and Subtotal.Text = String.Empty but these only clear the label, not the number behind it.

The problem is that when one navigates the combobox via the keyboard, the combobox's information doesn't update. If you click a value with your mouse, though, everything works wonderfully. The link I've mentioned suggests changing the binding from the Text property to the SelectedItem property. I'm very deep into this project and it would be a bit of a nuisance to change the setup so as to allow it to be bound to the SelectedItem property.What I'm wondering is whether or not I can detect the user changing the selected entry in the combobox and tell VB that they "clicked" the value, if that makes any sense.
in my program I have a section that is outlined as listed below - in the page load, the label's visibility is set to false.

It takes about a minute or 2 to run updatedata as it is doing multiple things to a database - when I execute this code, it stalls and loads the data, then when done I do get my label that says loading complete, but I never see the label before it is done loading to tell the user that it is processing. Is there any way to force it to show before UpdateData() is called so that it shows during the load time?
Does anyone know how to make an event that will fire when the value from a label is changed? (In VB.NET)

Now, I've moved this same code into a ASP.NET Wizard and it keeps throwing an error at the second step. The error is:Method 'System.Object AndObject(System.Object, System.Object)' has no supported translation to SQL.Any ideas why this would occur when moving the code into the wizard? I've got a gridview (ASP.net) inside of an update panel. I also have a "Save" button so that when I click "Save" it loops through all the rows of a grid view and passes the data to a stored procedure to update each row. This was too slow as sometimes I would be updating the database even though a change did not occur.
I decided to add a field in my gridview like so:

I am using oracle database and i already created a connection and retrieved data from my oracle DB to Datagridview using oledb commands,now my major challenge which has gotten me sick is to update any changes made in the datagridview to the oracle database. I tried using sqlcommandbuilder but failed. This code is what i used to retrieved the data from oracle and place it into the datagridview.
These are my declarations i made at the beginning of the form:

Once inside the application, certain users will need to update the AD. When I hardcode a username/password, I am able to update the AD, however when I try to force the object to use the logon credentials or if I don't specify the username/password, it throws an error. Obviously due to security concerns, I do not want to hardcode credentials.

when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.
