I have several combo boxes which are mapped to the same datasource (an array), when user selects one combo box, all other boxes are get updated to the same selection too. what is the problem?
View 10 RepliesI have 5 combo boxes that need to show the same list of items that come from a single dataset table. I have managed to bind the datatable to the combo boxes no problem at all.. but when I run the application and select an item from one of the combo boxes all the others change to the item I selected. After some research I believe that this problem is something to do with using the one datasource so I have tried assigning the dataset datatable to 2 different variables and used them as datasources for 2 of the comboboxes but the same still happens.
A work around to this I can see is to call the same methods and SQL select statements 5 times over to get individual datasources for each combo box but this doing that sounds crazy to me. how I can get around this easily? Code snippet below shows 2 combox boxes and their datasources. I'm using VS2005, .Net 2

I have a combo box with a data source. This box shows one column of a table and allows me to select one item.Next, I have an ordinary text LABEL that I need to put text from another column of the item selected above.I tried to set the data binding field of the label, but this grabs only the first row or data and shows the selected column. That is nice, but I can not figure out how to update the selected selected ROW when the combo box item is changed.In this case the combo box lists a bunch of inventory parts. When I select a specific part, I need the change the text in a label to show the manufacturer. (like a sub-form). This same behavior will be used in several other places, but the relationships can cascade.

is it possible to have a single report from two different tables? Because I have been reading articles that are saying that it is not possible and a subreport should be implemented? Can anyone clarify this for me?
I've been retrieving the fields that I need for my report with inner join sql statement and setting it as the data source of the report that I had created but it doesn't show up when the crystal report viewer is loaded. I had the correct syntax based on testing on what is retrieved by the statement, the only problem is how should it be shown in a single report.
I'm using a MS Access 2007 database. I modified the field definition of one of the fields in a table, it a text field and I change the maximum length from 40 to 150. I have a data source in my app that contains this table and many others. I refreshed the data source but the change didn't take affect. I went through configure option but the change still didn't take affect. It gives me this error,
The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.
If I add/delete a database field the data source is updated when I go through the configure process. I finally just deleted the table from my data source and then added it back.
I'm working on a program that is interacting with a simple Access database. When the form loads there need to be multiple text boxes that are bound to the same table and field in the database, Inventory_Table.Quantity, to display the quantity of the inventory. From there, orders are read into the system adjusting the inventory as necessary.
I need to specify what row these are each supposed to be bound to, because right now it is binding them all to row 0, which makes sense but is not what I want. Is this possible? Heres the code I have to bind currently.

I am importing data from an excel file, and it is stored in a dataset. The data is then filtered with a binding source, and that data is outputted into a datagridview. The filtered data in the datagridview contains data for 2 identification numbers. I want to graph each ID number in a chart on their own bar, in either a stacked bar graph, or a double bar graph.
I am having trouble assigning each series to an ID number: I have tried using multiple binding sources, but each seems to override the previous giving too much/too little data. I have tried using multiple datagridviews, however I cannot assign more than one datagridview as the datasource for the chart. The code I have pasted below outputs a double bar graph, however both bars graph the same ID number.

All fields are select ( name ) from a "CustomerName" table. "CustomerName" table is have more than ten thousand records. I am use three binding sources its worked great but it is very slow bcz three comboboxes are filled data on form loading time. I am using visual studio 2010 (visual basic).
I have combo box being filled with more than 50 thousand records. it is getting sometime to load and bind the data. I am using datatable to bind the data. I tried using data-reader as well but in vain.

I have used CSV files before for a simple database of about 12,000 items - this was a simple one page form... Now I want to have the same database but with the data available to multiple forms at the same time.. eg.. Form 1 displaying persons 1,2,3,5,7 name, addy, phone etc and form 2 pulling info for persons 2,3,4,8... Is this possible with CSV files?? or even XML?... The only other thing is that I do it all in .NET 2.0....
View 3 RepliesI refreshed my data sources to include additional items from the SQL Server databases and it appears that my entire data source from my VB.NET project disappeared.I am using Entity Framework. I may have clicked on something wrong, not quite sure. Unfortunately I can't recreate the Data Source without creating a new Entity and Data Model.I can delete the entry in the App.Config file and recreated it, however things aren't quite right.Is there a way that I can recreate my Data Source from the entry that is in my App.Config file...since that appears to have remained intact.BTW, I can go to my Data Model and successfully refresh from there, however my project isn't connecting to the database so I have quite a number of errors until I can get reconnected.

I have an Access database and I want to view on a datagridview specific rows. For that I used the following :

Cases is the table, OfferDate a field of the table wich is DateTime type.
When I use Between operator I get the following error :The expression contains unsupported operator 'Between'.
The idea with this form is to add the futures which is calculated when the button is pushed but I need the list to update every time and show the values each time to which the previous value is added to the new calculation, e.g. of what it should look like in listbox:

am trying trying to write some code for a ComboBox that does the following:
1. Allow the user to enter text into the combo box to type entries contained in the list source.
2. Enable autocomplete to assist the user in selecting entries in the list source, both from dropped down state and non dropped down state.
3. Restrict the user from typing an entry that doesn't exist in the list source.
My requirements are:
1. The ComboBox must run some code after a selection has been made or the user has finished typing an entry (not after the focus has been moved to another control)
2. The code must only run once after the user has made a selection from the combobox or has finished typing an entry
The problem: To achieve the above functionality, I had to run code on numerous event's. Sureley there is a better way, here are the events and the reason for the code:

View 4 RepliesI have a combo box with "Existing Customers" Full Names in it.This combo box gets updated when a "New Customer" entry has been entered in a different form.When the new customer entry has been saved, the user is directed back to the combo box, here the user should be able to pick the new entry at the end of the combo box.This is not working currently, and the combo box only gets updated when I press stop, and play the program again. I was thinking that I possibly was not closing and loading the forms corretly for the "new customer name" to be added to the combo box? [code]is it possible to sort the combo box alphabettically? I tried setting the "sorted" propety to True, but it gives this msg box "ComboBox that has a DataSource set cannot be sorted. Sort the data using the underlying data model."
View 2 RepliesSo I've looked at some of the posts on updating the combo box and none of the methods seem to work for me.
I have two forms I will refer to as Parent, Child. The Parent form contains a combo box of Business names from my database. The Child form adds a Business to my database. After I exit the Child form I want the combo box on the Parent form to update with the new business.
Also I created the combo box by click-dragging the Business table from my Data Sources window to my form.
I have a single table that has (3) Fields displayed in their own combo boxes. Right now they can only be sorted by one set of criteria. Unfortunately that leaves the other (2) Combo Boxes in random order. When "One" of the values, in "One" of the combo boxes is updated, ALL 3 of them jump to the same record and display the correct data. This part works as designed.The problem is, I need to have a way to sort the other (2) Combo box's data, which is also populated from the same table, AT THE SAME TIME, so that all (3) present sorted data in each of the (3) Combo Boxes. Then when one of the combo boxes is updated, ALL (3) will get updated, just like they do now.THis data populates three of the cells in a data grid, and then the underlyting table(s) after saving. Like I said, the (3) work, but only with one of the orders sorted. I need the same exact functionality, but with (3) different sort orders on the (3) Boxes.The (3) Combo Boxes are:
1.) cb_PlayerNumber - A Sorted list by the Player's Number (2 Digits as String)
2.) cb_Lastname - A Sorted List By player's Last Name (String)
3.) cb_FirstName - A Sorted List by the Player's First Name (String)
The table these three combo boxes is populated from is the "Players" Table. they all populate perspective colums in the "Gamedata" Datagrid, along with selected data from combo boxes populated from other tables which, when saved updates the "GameData" Table.
