VS 2008 CSV Or XML - Make Data Available To Multiple Forms At The Same Time?
Nov 4, 2010
I have used CSV files before for a simple database of about 12,000 items - this was a simple one page form... Now I want to have the same database but with the data available to multiple forms at the same time.. eg.. Form 1 displaying persons 1,2,3,5,7 name, addy, phone etc and form 2 pulling info for persons 2,3,4,8... Is this possible with CSV files?? or even XML?... The only other thing is that I do it all in .NET 2.0....
How can i code my application so that it can handle two sets of key events at the same time? For example, if I was making a game where one player used the WASD, and the other the arrow keys for moving, how can i make it so that both can move at the same time? The code I used only allows one to move at a time.. (key press event, If e.KeyData = Windows.Forms.Keys.down then.... etc)
How to extend the session time. There are many form in my application like parent and child forms. So how can I make pop up to appear when session times out and the pop up should appear on the form where the user is currently in, when popup comes I have to disable all forms like(they should be transparent (i.e) user should NOT be able to edit them).
my program is design to receive a pup-up forms.i wnt this result..if i received a popup forms it will close automatically for 10minutes..the problem is i don't knew how to do it using timer.
I'm making a IM LAN Chat, and I don't want to limit it to a specific number of chats that can be open at any given time (By re-producing the forms and setting variables once a chat is open).
I have been working for a while on this. I am trying to figure out how to make multiple forms .Such as a login form that leads to a second form. [code]
VB.NET newbie here... I have an vb.net windows application set up. It has multiple forms, about 6 in all. There's a main menu form, and then 5 other forms to collect data. The user will collect data on each form and bounce back and forth between forms. How do I get the forms to retain the data that has been entered into the text boxes and/or other controls on the forms? For example, they might fill out a few textboxes on a form, but then need to go to a different form and fill something out... and then back to the previous form. Right now, when they come back to the form, all the data previously entered in to the text boxes is gone.
I am trying to fetch some specific data from a file which is updated frequently. So, i am trying to make my form wait till i get a particular data. i am using Threading.Thread.Sleep(10000)to wait and again check the data.
but form is getting hanged (showing NOT RESPONDING)
In this example I want the loop button works in all mdi child forms at the same time; now in the first mdi child form it will work, but when getting a new mdi child form with that, it will stop in the first one!
I am designing a degree audit program for school, and have a listbox where all the classes needed are contained. I have a separate form for each year (Freshman, sophomore, etc.), which also contain listboxes which are empty. The idea is to add the selected class from the first listbox into the empty listbox in the appropriate year form. However, to do this I would like to have the same listbox (the first one with all the classes) appear on each form, but still reflect changes made to it from other listboxes (classes transferred out of it).
To do this, would I need to create a listbox with global properties? Or would it be better to create a global function containing all the classes and have its contents called to the appropriate listbox?
I have a problem with my program. I wanted to know how i can make a global variable like an integer be recognised in any form so in essence linking to two forms together. Also how do I store an integer that has been typed by the user into the textbox? This integer will then be stored in the global variable. I have got two forms, one is for the user to interact with and the other is going to be used for displaying the global variable.
I need to make a program (or if someone wants to make it for me, feel free to do so) that has a starter form with a combobox where you can select different sizes, like 2x2, 4x4, 6x6 and so on. When i then press the button to choose size, a new form would pop up , with 4 different grids of checkboxes, (white, red, green, blue).Do i have to make each form (frm2x2, frm4x4) and make each individual checkbox, or is there some other much greater solution?Because, in the end, i don't feel like naming 576 different checkboxes for just 1 form.
After all that has been made, it would be saved to a text file, with 0 being anything thats unchecked, 1 is white, 2 is red and so on. And it would look something similar to this:
how to have all forms have the same on closing event with the exception of one form (Form1). I want the forms to show Form1 when one of the other forms is closed. I know there is a way to do it, I just can't work out how.
My code at the moment assumes that each form will have a boolean declared on it as false that will only turn true if you use a legitimate way off of the page (i.e. a regular button on the form). If you instead click the exit button on the title panel it will find the boolean is false and show Form1.
So the only problem I really have is getting the code to apply to all forms without writing it for all of them.
I have several combo boxes which are mapped to the same datasource (an array), when user selects one combo box, all other boxes are get updated to the same selection too. what is the problem?

I have a database set up in Access. Currently I have 12 exact copies so individuals can enter data. We use the data to fill in multiple forms.I know that VB can be used to allow everyone to access one database. Does anyone have this as a runtime module since I have never written in VB and don't know where to start. My last code writing was on a AS400.
HBasically I will have two forms. Form1 will control form2 which is the media display. Form2 will give back the media status and info back to form1 in someway. I was thinking of creating properties in form2 and having form1 polling these values to display the elapse run time etc... ideally i wish to have form2 somehow send events back with data when it values gets updated.
I have to forms, form1 and form 2. On form1 I have datagridview with all the fields in it. If I double click on it I would like a new form to open where I can add a new record.
Then I have a edit button on the form, If I click the edit button I would like another form to open where I can edit the data in.
In this post it explains it, I need the same but for linq to sql.
I am trying to develop a vb program where i am using List to store data. I want to use all datas saved in that list from another class. In Class 1, i am trying to include a method that will return my list. And form class 2, i will call that method and get that list. But code isn't working. [Code]
How do you handle the screnario wherein multiple data entry forms are open and modifying one could potentially affect the record being modified in other forms?
1) I am writing an application for a touchscreen which will have several different Forms - each of which will be full-screen. What is the best way to achieve this? Hide/show each Form as the user navigates between screens? MDI Parent with multiple Child Forms becoming visible 'on top'? Or is there a more elegant solution?
2) I would also like a 'banner' on the top of each Form (or always visible on the top of the MDI Parent, etc) similar to a 'navigation frame' on a website. This banner will display a clock with the current time, and the current GPS location (meaning that a Timer will be used to get/set these values every 1000 milliseconds). I thought of using a UserControl for the banner - but if this is used on multiple Forms then I will end-up with multiple Timers all waiting 1000 milliseconds to update essentially the same information.
Is there a best practice for this type of scenario? - my thoughts so far are using the "Main" Form for Global Timers, etc - but then how do I update all Form clocks each second? (without iterating through all visible Forms... which seems messy).
I have 80 buttons and each of them will have the same code. I've coded one of the buttons. The code is a long one and is there any other way to code all of them at the same time or should I code it by copy and paste? The names of the button are in sequence, Button1 - Button2 - Button3 - and so forth until Button80
I have to make some automatization on a web server, I use Visual Studio 2005 Visual Basic Windows Console Application. I want to make a load/performance test of the web server, so I open several Internet Explorer instances, and I login the application, that is not a problem. But after that I have a mess on the page and I cannot make any more automatization...The composition of the page after the login is like this: I have the default form, another form and a multiple data window(mdw) controller, which dinamically can switches the forms on this part.
The problem is that I don't know how to access the controls of this mdw forms. I couldn't find much about this mdw controller and I am not an expert.
My code is here:
Imports System Imports System.Diagnostics Imports System.Web.Ui.Webcontrols
how to read multiple arrow keystrokes at the same time.Like when I have up + left so it should do something like diagonal up-left? I have search the forum to no luck, also tried on keydown, keyup, ProcessCmdKey, etc etc... no good.
I have this application which has one class. I need to return a recordset of data to the calling form. If i use Properties to return, it can only return only a single value at a time. Right now i'm returning a datareader object with one of the properties. Can anyone suggest a better way to return multiple rows of data to the calling method via Class Property?
I am trying to find a way to show a large amount of data that spans across multiple forms and text boxes. I am making a somewhat summery of the input strings.
I have a form from which I am visually representing data (from access database). I have set up a user log on a separate form (allows user to make comments as they scroll through the data and see any points of interest etc). The second form is linked via a textbox in terms of a common field in this case the field name is "Datetime".
What I want to do is be able to scroll through the data and make notes on the second form and add them to another table in the database. I have managed to do all the above but obviously loose focus of the second form when i scroll through the data on the first. Is there any way of being able to interact with both forms at the same time?
