I have a database set up in Access. Currently I have 12 exact copies so individuals can enter data. We use the data to fill in multiple forms.I know that VB can be used to allow everyone to access one database. Does anyone have this as a runtime module since I have never written in VB and don't know where to start. My last code writing was on a AS400.

I have a customer service center where each person must fill out the same data on 3 different web forms for each phone call. All 3 browser windows are open at the same time. (we are forced to use IE at this time)
The fields on each form are the same, but may be in a different order or called something different, but the data is ultimately the same.
Submitting to these web pages through POST is NOT an option. It must be done in macro-like style.
The hard part about this for is getting VB to focus each window one-at-a-time and then filling in the form values.
How can this be done? After focusing windows, is there a way to get VB to fill in each form field?
I'm currently making a Program that will automatically and randomly fill in Username and stuff like that, in a webbrowser. A yahoo account maker. and i'm stuck at the part with that image. I want to copy the image to a Picture Box inside the Visual Basic 2008 program. [Code]

How do I get the forms to retain the data that has been entered into the text boxes and/or other controls on the forms? For example, they might fill out a few textboxes on a form, but then need to go to a different form and fill something out... and then back to the previous form. Right now, when they come back to the form, all the data previously entered in to the text boxes is gone.

Then I have a edit button on the form, If I click the edit button I would like another form to open where I can edit the data in.

1) I am writing an application for a touchscreen which will have several different Forms - each of which will be full-screen. What is the best way to achieve this? Hide/show each Form as the user navigates between screens? MDI Parent with multiple Child Forms becoming visible 'on top'? Or is there a more elegant solution?
2) I would also like a 'banner' on the top of each Form (or always visible on the top of the MDI Parent, etc) similar to a 'navigation frame' on a website. This banner will display a clock with the current time, and the current GPS location (meaning that a Timer will be used to get/set these values every 1000 milliseconds). I thought of using a UserControl for the banner - but if this is used on multiple Forms then I will end-up with multiple Timers all waiting 1000 milliseconds to update essentially the same information.
Is there a best practice for this type of scenario? - my thoughts so far are using the "Main" Form for Global Timers, etc - but then how do I update all Form clocks each second? (without iterating through all visible Forms... which seems messy).
I have used CSV files before for a simple database of about 12,000 items - this was a simple one page form... Now I want to have the same database but with the data available to multiple forms at the same time.. eg.. Form 1 displaying persons 1,2,3,5,7 name, addy, phone etc and form 2 pulling info for persons 2,3,4,8... Is this possible with CSV files?? or even XML?... The only other thing is that I do it all in .NET 2.0....

I want to make a load/performance test of the web server, so I open several Internet Explorer instances, and I login the application, that is not a problem. But after that I have a mess on the page and I cannot make any more automatization...The composition of the page after the login is like this: I have the default form, another form and a multiple data window(mdw) controller, which dinamically can switches the forms on this part.
The problem is that I don't know how to access the controls of this mdw forms. I couldn't find much about this mdw controller and I am not an expert.

I have this application which has one class. I need to return a recordset of data to the calling form. If i use Properties to return, it can only return only a single value at a time. Right now i'm returning a datareader object with one of the properties.Can anyone suggest a better way to return multiple rows of data to the calling method via Class Property?

the problems is: whenever the index is changed in one combobox, it's automatically changed in the other one too.
I have 16 comboboxes with a naming convention of:

These will all contain the same items and I need to add them at runtime. I know how to loop through the controls, but not sure how to make sure I'm only editing the correct comboboxes. (I will have to do this for 2 more sets of comboboxes with similar naming conventions as well)

View 2 RepliesI'm in the process of adding EMR (Electronic Medical records) to my app. We have many PDF files that where created in Adobe LiveCycle and Acrobat Pro. Not sure if this is possible, but what I'd like to do is open a PDF file within my app and display it for the user to fillin the PDF form. Once PDF is filled in, I'd like to be notified (user clicks submit) when user is done, then get data out of PDF and save it to database. Or be able to fill in a PDF automatically and then display it to the user for editing. I know there are many tools out there to create/edit pdf files. The Acrobat SDK also includes a PDF viewer control, but the problem with this control is there is no way (I've found) to also edit the file through my program because the control don't expose the AcroForm class through the control. BTW, it this can be done PLEASE let me know how. Also note that most of these are dynamic PDF files (created in LiveCycle) and some of the third party tools don't provide support for these files.
I don't care if Acrobat reader is required to be installed on the user computer, I just need to be able to get some type of notification that the user is done filling in the forms. It might have been easier to just create a winform and with all required fields, but a lot of our users are not computer savy, and have been using the paper version of the PDF files for a while. I need to make it as easy as possible for them to jump in and start using the program, hince embedding the PDF into my app.
I am experiencing something very bizarre when I execute the Fill method of my adapter. I've been running this query for months and all of the sudden this is happening after I installed SP1 for Visual Studio 2008. For some reason several DataRows in 2 of the 3 tables within my DataSet have errors in them when I view them in debug mode using the DataSet Visualizer. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about
It does this to random rows. If I execute the Fill method the first time, rows (5-10) will have these errors. If I execute the Fill method again rows 12-23 are affected and so on. I have no idea what is happening here.
This is effected my DataGridViews, because they don't display any rows, because of the erros. I should also note that when I run the lines of code below in the Immediate Window it says the DataSet doesn't have errors.

I have a main form, and some sub forms, and each sub form can have some sub forms. When I have multiple sub forms open, and I try to get data from the parent form, it returns the data from the wrong parent form.For example I have two instances of Mainform.subform running. If I do something like this in a child form of one instance of the subform. It returns data from the other subform.

The problem is this solution is not global. It will only work on text boxes with the name "OWNER_NAME". Writing out hundreds of variations for every text input there might be for name would not be very smart. There must be an easier solution?

I would like the main form I am designing in VB.net to appear as quickly as possible. As a result I don't want to fill a datatable in the load event but instead fill it as soon as the form appears, in the background.Then when a user clicks the button a listbox can quickly be populated.
With this in mind I called a function to fill the datable from the _Shown event. The trouble is that the form freezes until the query executes, making the process pointless for my needs.
Does anyone know how to keep the form active while the datatable fills silently in the background?
Well, my problems is follow. I use a textbox where the user can enter a text but which I would like to prefill out with a variable (later , with more experience, want to ask the AD for the username and put it in the box).
That means, when the user runs the app, automatically is the username written in the textbox without pushing a button but the user has the opportunity to change it (For example doesnt want the second surname).
