I am trying to log the contents of an object to a text file. I can get the property-value pairs I want to log by executing this line in the immediate window[code]...
I have a project that the debug.print "something" function has stopped showing in the "immediate window", or any other window. This has been working fine.If I create a new project the "debug.print "something" works fine.I did have to do a uninstall/reinstall of VS 2010 yesterday maybe something changed.Is there a setting that tells "debug.print" where to print?

I opened an older project and it works fine. Using syntax: debug.print ("OK") and look for printed line in immediate window. Is there some setting I could have inadvertently disabled or have maybe discluded some imports? Only import is forms.

According to MS documentation The question mark (?) is an alias for Debug.Print This is clearly not 100% true, as the two statements exhibit differing behaviors in the example above. If it makes any difference, I am using the Express Edition of VB 2008.
When I add a debug.print line to my code, it doesn't send the output to the immediate window. I did a search of the forum for debug.print, and found the identical problem, but, the solution listed did not work for me. Basically it said to set the solution configuration to "Debug" as opposed to "Release".

I'm trying to debug an application as I did before using vb6. Placed a break point in the code and run. when it hits the breakpoint I tried to modify the code but, it does not allow it.
I got a message saying Changes are not allowed in the following cases:When the debugger has been attached to an already running process The code being debugged was optimized at build or run time
The assembly being debugged is loaded as domain-neutral
The assembly being debugged was loaded through reflection

I have a VS 2008 Solution in VB.Net that has 2 projects - a Launcher and the App. The Launcher is what runs first, checks to make sure the App has all the latest files from the network, etc. and then launches the App. The Launcher allows the user to select their environment (Test, Production) then passes those values into the App.exe as command line arguments.
This works fine when running normally, but when trying to debug this, I'm trying to figure out how to start Debugging from the Launcher, then pass the selected Environment into the other project so it can read them as command line arguments.

Ok so I've been searching the forums for the past hour (I used the search feature) and have had no luck coming across what I wanted to do.
I have a application that I'm going to launch remotely on 12 LAN computers at one time, but to activate the application, I need to press "r' on the keyboard. What code would I need so that I can run a .exe file through the command console that targets the process CapWiz.exe that is open and then mimics a keystroke on the keyboard "r".[code]....

Well, is there any solution or way not to include that line when debug. I know that .pdb is important in debugging, but when the app published still there's that line. Can we disable it or there's no other way.

View 7 Repliesi am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007.i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll But when i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) it works. But if i run directly .exe (go to bin release doubleclick .exe) it gives error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.AxInterop.OWC11.dll is in release directory.Is this office 2007 error or Win 7 ?
View 2 RepliesI am working on a project in Visual Basic .NET 2010 on Windows 7 SP1 that previously ran fine in Windows XP SP3 but has recently started crashing immediately upon running the executable. I have made several additions/changes since the last time it was tested on XP, so it is difficult to pinpoint what might be the problem. (I commented out all of the start form's _Load event, which causes the form to load with no events triggered in the IDE, but the program still crashes in XP, so I suspect it's something other than my code, though I don't know what else could have changed to trigger it.)

I've been having a bit of a problem using the while function.

When running the debug, the program crashes, and when I step into the program, I find that this While statement becomes an infinite loop. This is a program that uses random number generators to assign a value to something, and this while statement is necessary so that there is never two of the same values showing (RandomOutput, RandomOutput2 & RandomOutput) Have to be different to one another.
I am building a website to capture data. I have many spreadsheets that are used for data entry or capture. Now I want to mimic these complex spreadsheets on the web forms but I am unsure of the correct control to use.
Data entry must be allowed and live calculations also need to be made similar to formulas on normal excel spreadsheets. Later on the data must be captured into an SQL table.
What would be the best control to use or method to mimic that functionality, albeit that the spreadsheet component is no longer available in visual studio 2010. Is it a data grid?
there are two ways windows standby the computer by itself, close the lid and if the computer is not being used for XX minutes. however, there is a difference, when i open the lid the computer goes out of standby automatically but only if it was caused by closing the lid, but the other does not. so how do i use the lid-standby in VB? [code] and the device in manager "ACPI Lid" has no wake up options, like i have with some keyboards and mice.. so what is the difference, and how do i cause the computer to wake when i open the lid after the standby is initiated?

causes an overflow. It is my understanding that in C it "wraps". Assuming that is true, is there a way to mimic this in VB? I need this for an implementation of UInt128 I am trying to write.
Trying to mimic the way the IPhone flips the album art to the songs list. I want to pass in two generic objects and have the storyboard flip them. I can get the slide effect, but have not figured out how to scale the object so it appears to be rotating and not just sliding.
