While Loop - When Running The Debug The Program Crashes
Mar 15, 2012
I've been having a bit of a problem using the while function.
Here is my code (Simplified):
Dim RandomNumber3 As Random
Dim RandomOutput3 As Integer
[CODE]..............
When running the debug, the program crashes, and when I step into the program, I find that this While statement becomes an infinite loop. This is a program that uses random number generators to assign a value to something, and this while statement is necessary so that there is never two of the same values showing (RandomOutput, RandomOutput2 & RandomOutput) Have to be different to one another.
I wrote this VB program to be able to throw a device we developed into programming mode where we use an ATMEL Flip installer to upload new firmware. I can program one device after another running the application off of Visual Studio Express 2010 or Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to publish this file and run it on another machine, it becomes unstable and crashes after each upload. On those same computers if I run the raw unpackaged program under Visual Studio Express, the system does not crash, and I can program devices repeatedly.
I have a simple chat program i have made, it works but with a few errors.
1st if it can't find the physical pc it is trying to connect to it crashes.
2nd if it finds the physical server but not the program (server) running it says "the computer actively refused the connection on IP/Port" and then crashes.
i am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007.i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll But when i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) it works. But if i run directly .exe (go to bin release doubleclick .exe) it gives error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.AxInterop.OWC11.dll is in release directory. Is this office 2007 error or Win 7 ?
I cant figure why the VB JIT Debugger control transfers the error to the program when I run in Debug mode and goes on in an infinited loop... I am using VB.NET 2008 and MS Access as the database backend. What I am trying to do here is that whenever I catch an exception (I have some C# code dll added to this main program and it should catch the unhandled exception and the addhandler routine will follow suit. So the moment any unhandled exception is caught MyHandler method is invoked and I need to take the backup of the database (Delete if the original file exists, copy the *.bak file as the original file name(was created during new file development) ,name it as *.mdb ) show a customized messagebox warning the user to abort (custom crash dialog instead of the standard default one)Somehow Myhandler goes in an infinite loop stop at line Globals.startBackup inside Private Sub MyHandler..Any idea on this weird AppDomain.Unhandled exception and how to prevent this from happening? [code]
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1cmdRun_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1cmdRun.Click ' Variable declaration & initilization Dim hour As Integer Dim minute As Integer Dim second As Integer ' Validation If IsNumeric(txbTotal.Text) And txbTotal.Text Then >= 0 Then ' Total number of seconds Dim totalSeconds As Integer = CInt(txbTotal.Text) ' Calculation hour = totalSeconds 3600

Whenever I run the program and I enter text into the label the program crashes. When I type in a negative number the message box works. A number like -45 worked and a message show appeared, whilst a string like 'bob made the program crashed.
I made a copy of a VB application project, to make a copy of it for testing.
But when I debug the test copy while the orginal is still running (debugging from Visual Studio), focus changes to the original's main form, and the test copy does not run.
If I try to single step the test copy, same thing, focus changes to original, and test copy does not even step.
I have a small program on the menu written in VB6 retrieve data from Acess run very fast and now want to switch to VBNet2008. VBNet2008 conversion is still normal, but when running the menu does not appear that waiting in line, then click on the menu bar of this menu appears, but not the font is in Unicode data is available. Expect you to help debug programs that run on VBNet2008 still running good access Menu fast as running on VB6. Also supported is Unicode font on VBNet2008 does not function for unicode font. Attach program with VB6 and VB2008.
I have several VB.NET Windows Form applications connecting tp several Network databases. When I build, update and test my apps, I want them to connect to a testing database as opposed to connecting to the production databases when the app is released.Right now, I change a setting in my coding before releasing the app, but I would like this to be automatic, to prevent any testing data in the Production database and vice versa.I found this piece of coding on the web, but it doesn't seem to ever be in DEBUG mode and by DEBUG mode I mean when I click the "Start Debugging" button or the F5 key. i make a system when i debug my system to my desktop its running..then when i try to debug my system into my laptop its not woriking..i thnk my problem is the sql databse.
I'm using VB2008 SP1 Express. My app downloads a file from a FTP and compare inside it the registered values, but some users have problems when validating the key, finnaly I found that the following code evaluates TRUE
for some reason this works perfectly, when i do it in debug mode it adds the tasks to stagingtable, and then transfers none duplicates to the regular table. However, when i upload it to the server it does not work.
Using bcp As SqlBulkCopy = New SqlBulkCopy(connstring) bcp.ColumnMappings.Add(0, 1) bcp.ColumnMappings.Add(1, 2)
I'm getting the 403 Forbidden error while running a VS 2010 in debug mode. It gives me this error as it tries to read thru an XML File. See attachment. This is a web app and it's reading an XML file that retrieves the DB/Server information. It's not the Web.Config file but just a regular xml file. This file is read by every application in our system. Not sure why it suddenly started doing this. I've created the virtual directory on our IIS Server and set permissions on the C:inetpubwwwrootAppName directory of my C: drive where the app resides.
I have an app that runs silently everytime the user logs in. But I want to be able to pass it a parameter to make it print to the console. I use a conditional if statement to do this now, but I would have to recompile the project to set it to false or true.

I place a break point on the enumerator = searcher.Get.GetEnumerator() line, and it exits and runs the app after moving past the While enumerator.MoveNext line (into the While loop). No code runs after this point.
I am using VB.NET Framework 3.5 . I have a very complicated program with over 40 forms and 100s of lines of coding. Earlier today, this program worked perfectly. I decided to change the Assembly Name from APA to Salamander. I do not get any errors and things seem to be going fine. Upon the next debug, the splash screen loads fine. (I am using a timer to proceed to the main form, not the inbuilt splash screen setting as I found it to be more reliable). However, when the main form loads, none of the pictures (resources) load and it exits itself immediately yet no errors appear at all. I think it might be to do with the .resources file but I really don't know. As I only started Visual Basic less than two months ago I'm not sure what all the files other than .vb files actually are.I really don't want to have to completely rebuild the program as my release date is in five days and as I am still at school I don't have time to complete it on top of homework. I have tried changing the assembly name back to APA again but it still does not work. I am completely stumped.
I have an application that I have built that used a winsock control to send commands and receive data from a wafer map program. I have been converting the winsock to use the built in sockets in .net and so far things have been going fine. I have been able to get it to connect and send out a command to the wafer map. Yet I have having a troubling error that I can't resolve.
This is a program I am making for a game he is making. All it needs to do is add information from textboxes into sql fields when clicking create account. That is working perfectly however if I tell it to add an account a second time it crashes. saying ?
I have a winform with a main panel that is anchored top, left; dock: fill, and set to a specific size to contain another panel of content that we want to scroll through. The other panel along with a few other controls are on the main panel. Now, for some reason, after running the application the controls will be shifted down (never horizontally) some random amount. Now, the "random amount" may in fact be the last position of the scroll bar or something, but either way, it is unintended functionality. I have resorted to automatically resetting the locations of these controls on the main form in the constructor?
my situation is this; I have a search button which searches records with Surnames, when two or more records have the same surname, the first record appears and 4 navigational buttons appear, they are 'Go back to first record' (btnFirst), 'go back one' (btnPrevious), 'go forward one' (btnNext) and 'go to the last one (btnLast)'. All of these work properly except for 'go back one' (btnPrevious). When I click this and the record is currently the first one, the program crashes. Its probably a very elementary mistake but I can't figure it out. Here is the code for btnPrevious
The application is like a client for a game site. I made it for the fan site i am apart of to help the members of our community. The application crashes when you click play on the game at the site. The game site uses Java all games are made in Java so i am guessing its a conflict with the Java, if you can help me it would be great i will attach a copy of the application for you to look at if you need. The password for the application is "cr2pafut" user name is anything you want it to be.url...
I have a translator and i have everything working, but if you put a space at the beginning of the first word typed, or you have more than one space between words, it crashes and give me "System.ArguementOutOfRangeException"
the code is
Private Sub btnConvert_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnConvert.Click Dim boolhpunct As Boolean = False Dim strpunctuation As String
Private Sub Button1cmdRun_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1cmdRun.Click Dim hour As Integer Dim minute As Integer Dim second As Integer

My HP dv6 - 1030US notebook has 4 gb of ram, and a Fujitsu MHZ2320BH G2 hard rive with 166 GB. free. running vista 64 SP2 and all current kb's installed. My problem is trying to test Vb 10 express with this unit. I am an ex vb 6.0 guy(beginner level) and still put small # of apps together for my remodeling company.
I am using VS2005 VB.NET on a Vista duel core processor machine.Completely updated from Microsoft.I have create a communication program that talks to a sensor we build. The software seems to work fine most of the time. But it keeps crashing randomly.
Here is one I get.
Description:A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: AppHangB1 Application Name: LPU2428_VS.vshost.exe
I write text to a file using StreamWriter as shown below several times a second. The problem I have is that sometimes these files are left blank after my program has crashed or the computer has crashed. I've done several searches on the internet without any results other then writing to a second file, copying over the file and then deleting the extra file when done. If this method doesn't have any error modes it still appears to be less then a beautiful solution. (What happens if the computer crashes when writing over the original file?)Is there a more secure method for writing the text file that doesn't leave it vulnerable? This happens way too often. I never find errors related to file writing. I really want this code to be reliable enough that I could just pull the plug on the computer
Try Dim mSW As IO.StreamWriter = New IO.StreamWriter(countFile, False) mSW.WriteLine(CStr(totalCount))
I am having Beta Testers go through my program. For some reason, the help file doesn't open but crashes the program. But it is in the program folder... I'm not sure why it is having a problem finding it.I created a try catch format because it seemed to have a problem at one point between looking in the 32 bit program folder or the 64 bit even though the program itself is in 64 bit...[code].....
