I place a break point on the enumerator = searcher.Get.GetEnumerator() line, and it exits and runs the app after moving past the While enumerator.MoveNext line (into the While loop). No code runs after this point.

But for some reason I unable to debug it. I place a breakpoint on the line Snake(i).X = (120 - 20 * i) and When I try to see what the values are the second time the loop iterates it simply exits the loop.
I have a winform with a main panel that is anchored top, left; dock: fill, and set to a specific size to contain another panel of content that we want to scroll through. The other panel along with a few other controls are on the main panel. Now, for some reason, after running the application the controls will be shifted down (never horizontally) some random amount. Now, the "random amount" may in fact be the last position of the scroll bar or something, but either way, it is unintended functionality. I have resorted to automatically resetting the locations of these controls on the main form in the constructor?

I mean: Is the compiler smart enough to not emit any code for those calls? Or would I have to surround them by #if DEBUG..#end if directives?
This code is supposed to check if an item already exists in a ListView, and if not, add it. But it still adds it even if it was already there. All variables are set and fully working. The addable string is in an array.

I've been having a bit of a problem using the while function.
Here is my code (Simplified):

When running the debug, the program crashes, and when I step into the program, I find that this While statement becomes an infinite loop. This is a program that uses random number generators to assign a value to something, and this while statement is necessary so that there is never two of the same values showing (RandomOutput, RandomOutput2 & RandomOutput) Have to be different to one another.
i have a listbox full of items and i want to use a loop to access these items one after the other and then process each one for admission.That is when the item is at memory location 0, it will work on that item and the move to the next at memory location 1 till it gets to the end of all the items in the list box but my loop is not working i have tried different types of techniques but none of them it working these are my codes

I cant figure why the VB JIT Debugger control transfers the error to the program when I run in Debug mode and goes on in an infinited loop... I am using VB.NET 2008 and MS Access as the database backend.What I am trying to do here is that whenever I catch an exception (I have some C# code dll added to this main program and it should catch the unhandled exception and the addhandler routine will follow suit. So the moment any unhandled exception is caught MyHandler method is invoked and I need to take the backup of the database (Delete if the original file exists, copy the *.bak file as the original file name(was created during new file development) ,name it as *.mdb ) show a customized messagebox warning the user to abort (custom crash dialog instead of the standard default one)Somehow Myhandler goes in an infinite loop stop at line Globals.startBackup inside Private Sub MyHandler..Any idea on this weird AppDomain.Unhandled exception and how to prevent this from happening? Problem:I am not getting the cursor (4 arrowheads) for moving the form.I am using the Panel1_MouseHover to display the cursor. Right now if I choose any other cursor then it is working but the same cursor also displays when I hover the mouse over any other control. I want the cursor to show only in the areas of the Panel where there are no controls.How do I show Tooltips for the images? The play,stop,next, previous,playlist,Hideme(with the smiley),volume are all images and not buttons?
I tried it every way I can think off, but nothing can stop it .
View 7 RepliesI am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.

I have been learning vb.net 2010 but am finding it difficult to find relevant information on the COM aspect. In VB6 COM was the dominating feature of the language, however, I can't seem to find relevant information on what has happened to COM in vb.net, does it still exist in vb.net, does it work in the same way or are apps designed in a different way in .net to do away with COM dll's?
View 3 RepliesI upgraded to VB2010 from VB2008 early this year and have been working on a Windows Service which I am now debugging. When I was using VB2008 in Windows XP SP3 I would put a Stop statement in the code and when execution got to it a dialog would open asking if I wanted to debug it using a development environment listed in a provided list. The list contained the VB2008 VS IDE which I selected which would in turn transfer me to the IDE in debug mode. I was very happy with this setup.
Now I am using VB2010 with Windows 7 and when the execution reaches the Stop statement the service just stops. It no longer offers the choice and ability to "jump" into the development environment via the dialog that I mentioned.[code]...
I have a VERY perplexing problem in both Visual Basic 2008 & 2010 Express. When I try to debug my project, the program runs without stopping at any breakpoints. View 2 RepliesI've received a project from a friend and the Debug platform is set to "Active (Itanium)",so I changed it to x86, saved, closed the "My Project" window, and debugged. Same message:Error while trying to run project. Cannot start debugging. The assembly to be debugged was built with a platform incompatible with the current system." I went back into My Project > Debug and it's been set back to Active (Itanium). I tried everything and looked around Google, has no-one else had the same problem? How do I fix it?

Where did it go? And most important how do I get it back?
When i try to save my program an error pops up telling me that it cannot debug because some sort of file is missing... While my other projects just work, and while i repeat the same steps (placing an entity like a button, coding it), it just shows that error. Its really strange!

I did a search of the forum for debug.print, and found the identical problem, but, the solution listed did not work for me. View 2 RepliesI have an app I'm developing using vb/vs2010. It's an x86 app running on a 64 bit machine. It hangs when I run it in the debugger or the debug exe. When I run the Release exe, it runs fine. System memory doesn't seem to be a problem. I show 1.8 gig free after I load the Release version. I show a similar number when the debug is hanging. Just to make it all really mystifying, the debug version works if I step through it a line at a time.
View 1 RepliesI am working on a project in Visual Basic .NET 2010 on Windows 7 SP1 that previously ran fine in Windows XP SP3 but has recently started crashing immediately upon running the executable. I have made several additions/changes since the last time it was tested on XP, so it is difficult to pinpoint what might be the problem. (I commented out all of the start form's _Load event, which causes the form to load with no events triggered in the IDE, but the program still crashes in XP, so I suspect it's something other than my code, though I don't know what else could have changed to trigger it.)
