Basically the question is, Why are NONE of the changes I've been making in the designer reflecting on the program when it runs ?'none' is in bold because I've tried moving everything around and nothing seems to be affecting it, it's like it's reading from a different design file, I tried reloading the project and that did nothing, and none of my code affects position of any items on the form (way too much to post it all)
I want input from user and when he click on view report button report should come in report viewer. May be my design is not good but my aspect is to design a user interface so that user should able to pass parameter in all the ways and get desired report.

Write code or use tableadaptors, bindingsources, dataset, etc.? I have experience with the older ways i.e. connection strings, ado code, sql, etc. but was hoping the newer tools in vs would make the user interface easier and more flexible. So far i have been disappointed. Am I wrong and I am missing something? Am I alone in this opinion or ? What is your past experience in VB and have you found vb.net to be a step forward in db user interface design? if your answer is yes then what is the easiest way to put a table record count into a text box? should i bypass all the new stuff/objects ( adaptors, binding sources, navigators, designers, etc) and just write code or what?
I am in the making of creating a database desktop application using VB.NET. I want my UI to have similiarity the same as Microsoft Money. By this, now I want to make all my textbox to behave this way :
flat will have no border, or if it's still if the mouse hover on it, the border will get emphasized. That's all.I recognize that in TextButton, we have FlatAppearance, so we can tweak all Button to behave like this. But the same is not happened for TextField.
I'm working on a design project where I have to use a Graphical User Interface that contains a drag and drop form. It consists of having a window dropped on a wall. Both of them are images to scale. I would like to know what kind of code I would have to use to show the x and y coordinates of one of the points of my window when dragged so when I drop it, I'm dropping in it on the desired coordinate of the wall.
I'am trying to make a login system with the dll. I want the .dll file to have the password inside of it and make another interface window that the user can login in.
I have an application that I am reworking. It has many reports and a pain to compile and roll out.I'd like to make a root user interface that "calls" the functions and subs remotely.I was concidering pulling them and making formless exe's of them, passing the needed criteria via command line. Yet still be able to update and control them.
I am new to this forum. I have created a module in which declared one structured in public. There were some fields earlier in the structure.
[Code]...
I have included statement includes project.modulename in my main project form where i am referring this structure. everything worked fine. Today, i added new field to the structure by name "example as string" and written some code in module itself to access this field. even this is working fine. but when i am trying to access this field in the main code it is not showing example as structure field and saying not a member.
The drop down suggestion of IDE is not showing this field in main code but in module code it is showing the field. Later, i also found that my debugger is also not working. I tried to clean solution, restart IDE, computer but nothing seems to be working.
I have an interface class (IUser) which is the interface of class User. Now, i want to put these into an IList but am confused as to how i should declare the IList:Dim userList As IList(Of IUser) = New List(Of IUser) Dim userList As IList(Of User) = New List(Of User) Dim userList As IList(Of IUser) = New List(Of User) Dim userList As IList(Of User) = New List(Of IUser) when instantiating should you always use its implementation; and when using it as a type use its interface?
And when im creating a new user should i use: Dim myUser as IUser = new User?
this is somewhat related to my previous issue which was solved: [URL] Now my problem is none of the affected controls are changing on the form. The form itself is not frozen as an elapsed time is going fine on it. when I "F8" thru the code the I see the controls contain the correct values and if I do a messagebox display of the control contents it displays the correct value. but the controls themselves do not change on the form. for example: label1.text will still show blank even though thru code it contains "test". what am I missing here?
In datagridview,i want to display the amount without decimals. so whatever values coming from backend,i'm directly assigning to cells value.then in cell formatting event, i'm formatting values without decimals,so here after formatting, the formatted Cell Value not reflecting in Original value. when i read the formatted value , its displaying only assigned value not formatted value..ex :
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load DataGridView1.Item(0, 0).Value = Val(12.123)[code].......
I am using a class to track if a user cleared their personal information found within some text boxes on a form. In the button click event to clear the text boxes I am creating a new object to the class and assigning true to one property value. Sounds simple until I try and submit the form with a different button, and create a another object reference that I use in an IF statement to check the property value for true. Every time the statement fails because the value being returned from the getter in my class is false.
I am developing an application on VB2008 with MySql as database. I opened the connection without any errors. I have three fields/columns in my database and on the form. When I am running vb form data is not reflecting on to form fields.
I have written the following code in form load event. 'Dim cn As ADODB.Connection 'Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset 'cn = New ADODB.Connection 'cn.ConnectionString = "DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};" + "SERVER=localhost;" + "DATABASE=in_out;" + "UID=root;" + "PASSWORD=pacvision;" + "OPTION=3;" 'cn.Open() 'MessageBox.Show("Connection Opened Successfully") 'rs.Open("Select * from deptno", cn.ConnectionString, ADODB.CursorTypeEnum.adOpenKeyset, ADODB.LockTypeEnum.adLockOptimistic)
I have 3 text boxes that are related on a form. They come from the same dataset and the same table in the dataset. The 3rd textbox is defined in the table as the product of textbox (really the column) 1 and 2. The problem is when I save after changing textbox 1 or 2, 3 does not update reflecting the new product. I have a different form using a different dataset that does a similar setup correctly. What could be the difference between the 2 forms or tables or dataset that I could look for?
There is one-to-n relationship (foreign-key relationship) between tables As and Bs. Every time a new record is added in As, a trigger "after update" in table As creates n records in table Bs. There are two Linq-to-SQL classes A and B representing the tables As and Bs respectively. The class A contains Bs property an EntitySet(of B). Similarly in class B, there is a property A, an EntityRef(of A)
[Code]...
When above function is executed the result is always 0. Whereas there are six records new records has been added to table Bs every time the above function is executed.
the access data are not getting reflected on the DataGridView unless the form is reloaded again. I am acessing the MSAcess data for back end processing (SELECT,DELETE)using odbc connection and displayin on .NET form using DataGridVew
I'm learning how to use visual basic and come from a background in Java. In Java I use the swing class to build my interface and code all of it. Is there a way to do this with visual basic, or is the designer the only way to create an interface?
I'm making a VB.net program via a text file and I'm compiling it using vbc.exe via command line. I'm trying to get just a simple program to run in the background of my computer. Problem is, it displays the annoying console window. How do I get nothing to show? No form, no console?
How can I customize the user interface in Visual Basic .NET and is there stuff you cant do in Vb.net that you can in higherj level languages usch as Java and C and C++?
i want the user interface to be kinda similar to the jQuery UI. This means themed buttons and windows(preferabely the ones form jQuery UI) Also, i'm looking for nice sliding and morphing windows.
I am using Visual Basic 2005 for an Operator Interface in an industrial setting. Where should I be looking to help make my Operator Interface even more eye pleasing and practical?
i have few questions about the user interface when working with a VS setup project
1. i have added a Checkboxes dialog, i have 3 checkboxes they are used to select upon 3 tools to be installed, so during the progress of the instilation, how should i let the project know which of the 3 tools was selected ? (i hope i was clear)
2. a bit of silly question - is it possible to edit something in a dialog ? like in my case in the "finished" dialog my customer didnt like the the end button is named "close" and he wants it to be named "Finish"
finally, this is an extra non programing but it would be good if i was able to find an answere :P, when i plug a USB in the computer it opens the autoplay, and i have my instilation file in the USB (it will be distributed on a USB rather than a CD), so i want to add to the autoplay a button that runs the instilation file
I'm writing a program in which I'll receive data using serial port using Comport.DataReceived event which I've written in seperate class. Once I receive data from my comport I need to display that data in my listbox in the form. What is the best way to do this?? I don have much knowledge on using delegates. An
I would like to make an application where there is no form, only controls, this way theuser can see what they are doing on top of their work. How could I for instance put a textbox on the screen, just like form1, but without it being a parent of form1, almost as if it was form1. Basically form1 is hidden.
I have a generic question regarding file paths and user interfaces. I am trying to build a user-interface to accommodate various file locations. I typically build interfaces which deal with files on drives. As such, I use a directory tree for this. I usually work with files on local drives. However if I wanted to ensure that all file locations were dealt with I would want to ensure that I was accommodating files in all drives (local, network, mappped etc.). I am assuming that the treeview would support all of these drive option.
However if the files are on a sharepoint site or in some other type of enterprise content system, then am I correct to assume that these file paths will be URLs? If so, then am I correct to assume that a directory tree is not the correct control to use for these locations? Should I be providing a textbox to the user and prompting them to enter this URL? Or is it better to have the URL loaded into a ListView or ListBox (i.e. "My Connections") and then provide these as options via a dropdown box. I am trying to picture a typical user interface. Is it a directory tree AND a text box/dropdown box.
