Using Collection - Store Info Of Employees On Daily Basis?
Aug 25, 2010
I am trying to come up with a way to store 3 pieces of information for each employee in the company on a daily basis. So for instance:
Day 1: Joe, 8, 80
Day 2: Sam, 10, 90
Day 3: Bill, 5, 40
Day 4: Bob, 8, 40
Day 5: Sue, 2, 50
I am very new to collections and most of the applications that I build are Create, Read, Update and Delete type applications that don't really need arrays so I have almost no experience with either.
This is what I have so far.
VB
'
Dim iDays As Integer = NumberDaysPerMonth(Date. Now)
Dim DayNumber(iDays) As Integer
Dim EmployeeRecords As List(Of String) = New List(Of String)
For i = 1 To DayNumber.Count - 1
[Code] .....

I have problem on my project on vb.net I'm using visual studio 2008. May I know how to do to show all my sales everyday. I have sale almost 5 items every day I want to have list for this. I'm new on vB.net..
With this code, I tried to put the contents of a collection (Info) into a text box but it didn't work. I would be glad if someone can examine it and tell me what is wrong. (Visual Studio builds the program fine and runs it, but when I click on Button3, this comes up:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll
Additional information: Argument 'Index' is not a valid value.
Here is the code I used (When the error occurs I made it bold):
Public Class Form1 Dim Info As New Collection() Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
I have just added a login form to my main form which just has a username textbox and a password textbox. What i basically want a user to be able to do is enter their username and password into these fields and then for the form to store the values there.
So if they enter their username and password, and then click OK on the login form, if they were to open up the login form their details would still be there?I want to be able to call on these values else where? How do i store the info in the username and password fields? And if they then closed the form and opened it up again would it still remember what username and password had been entered?
I am making a video conversion tool. I have a listview with one item per file. And i also have options to add subtitles to movies. I want it to be like this:Say the user add 2 movies. He select the first movie in the listview and then go to the subtitle tab beside. There he checks a checkbox so he can add subtitles. Some controls comes up that allows he to browse for subtitle and select which language the subtitle is. Then when he has selected these options, he select the other movie, the program saves the subtitle data somewhere and then erases all fields so he can fill them with a subtitle for the other movie.
My.Settings is way to simple for this. But i don't want SQL or db related stuff. Is there a good storing way i have missed?
I built a custom class and collection for the class for an app that I'm creating. What would be the best way for me to store it so that it will be available on the next startup of the app? It's a pretty simple class with a few strings, etc.
is possible to store a colletion into database field (ms sql server) is this case, the collection can contains different data types. What data type should be the database field ?
I can't seem to find any answers that work. Here's the setup:
Info class: Public Class ProductStageInfo
[Code]...
maybe I just don't understand the whole collection/index/thing. All the examples I've found are regarding single dimension collections - 'how to find name within this collection', and the responses use strings to search through them, but somehow the Info class is being treated differently, and I'm not sure how to translate this..
I am supporting one old project built on VB6.0.Can anyone please tell me how to store and retrieve collection from Dictionary.I searched over net but got nothing satisfactory.I really got strucked because of this. Please provide Any Example or Any Link,so that i can do self study.
I am trying to learn VB.NET and I've written a user entry screen to store and retrieve information. I keep getting this error. I understand that I have to either change the ref value from the calling code, but my problem is where is the calling code? Here is the error I'm getting (the program is underscoring udtTrans in the FileGet line in this segment).
Private Sub viewRecords() 'open the file and read fields of the first record into the textboxes Try FileOpen(1, strFilename, OpenMode.Random, OpenAccess.ReadWrite, OpenShare.Shared, Len(udtTrans)) FileGet(1, udtTrans, intCurrentRecord) 'gets first record [Code] .....
I am writing a program that lets someone click on a picture to vote for their favorite pet. The part I am stuck at is: when the application is opened and closed it needs to remember how many votes there were. To do so, when the program is closed I have the information stored in a .txt file. it looks something to the effect of:
know open an xml file into a datagrid. The xml file is stored in a secured ftp with username and password. Just as an example if the site ftp.mysitesite.com, with username "xxx" and the password "XXX" has the file 123.xml, then how do I load 123 into a datagrid. Is it possible to store these info to a variable in app.Config and use that variable to access the site?
I like the PHP way of doing things but, it seems I am stuck with using a Collection of Object's to store/retrieve the data I need. I have my Collection loaded with my Objects's and the code to iterate through the collection, my problem is I am unable to retrieve the "key" as it would be called in PHP (I believe in this case it is actually the name of the object).
Consider the following example:
Dim xDoc As XPathDocument = New XPathDocument(fName) Dim xNav As XPathNavigator = xDoc.CreateNavigator()
Dim sender As XPathNodeIterator
[CODE]...
As you can see, I am navigating an XML document, and creating an Object with some Key/Value pairs. The Object would look something like this if it were in JSON:
When I iterate though the Collection I can only get the value of the object, but I need the Key, in this instance I want "name","address1","city","state" to be stored in a variable for each iteration.
I am using VS2008 Pro. I have a simple DVD database built. I'm trying to make a data driven app to store my dvd collection. One of my tables is Actors and is structured as follows.[code]On a form in my app I have a combobox. I'm trying to make it list FirstName LastName ie. Will Smith. I know how to make a query that'll take the LastName and FirstName fields and list it as Actor. I'm having a heck of a time getting it to do that in the combobox as it'll only let me use one field for the display and won't let me use the query I've made.[code]I keep getting some error about schema don't match default query. I know I could simply change the table to only have one field that holds first and last name, but from what I understand that's not proper db practice. I've searched this site and google until I was blue in the face at looking at soulutions that don't match what I'm trying to do.
I have a string array called m_DirFileList and a collection called myFileCollection. I'm trying to loop through the items in the collection and store each one in the string array. It's not working though.
ArialRegular8 | <Corresponding Font Object> ImpactItalic10 | <Corresponding Font Object> TimesRomanRegular12 | <Corresponding Font Object>
These font types come from an external library, the real type is DocumentFont, I prefer not to store just values and recreate the font object later, so I need to store the object, and i want to be able to call Contains() later without looping. like for example Dictionary (of T Key, T Value), is this the best option? Also, to be able to call Contains(), i will have to overload function Contains() using an Interface or this is already built-in in some Collections / Dictionaries when using a String as Key?
I would like to store references to a bunch of structs in a collection. The general scaffolding looks like this:
Structure myStructType Dim prop1 as String Dim prop2 as int End Structure
[Code]....
now this doesn't work, because it's referencing the same memory. What I would really want is the 'pass reference by value' behaviour that is also used for reference types, so that I can easily keep producing more of them.
Is there any way to fix this other than to make the structs into classes? Is this actually a proper way to use structs, or do I have it all wrong?
I am wriing a vb.net windows application to log and store information. then display it in a sortable multiple column listbox (I personally like FlexGrid by Component One). However... I am not sure how to go about storing the information. Should I go with a .sdf file database, registry, simply storing them in a file, or some other method?
What I need is to be able to: read/write/delete from it read possibly up to a 20mb file and sorting it without a lot of lag be transported to multiple systems and maintain these writes (installed on many systems)
I know I could split up the reading/writing to anther thread. Even to other .DLL's and whatnot. But as for storing. Not sure what the best option is.
I am a beginner on Visual Basic but was able to create the 'skeleton' of the application I need to build. Basically, it is an application dedicated to keeping a check on the vinyl I have. When I buy a new record, I want to effectively 'Add New Record' on Visual Basic and be greeted with a page consisting of various forms such as 'Artist' and Title'. Once these are filled in, I want to click 'Enter' and for all that information to be converted to one of the pages within my application.
Here's an easier look at it... There are LPs that have 10" and 12" sections. There are singles that have 7" and 12" sections.
In the 'Add New Record' page I want to also have a drop down list with the above elements in, once 12" LP is selected and all the other forms are filled in and I click 'Enter' - I want the application to send it to the 12" LP section of the application.
I want to store additional information about a listview item using a custom class, but I can't seem to get it to work.I'm currently using this code to accomplish something similar using a listbox item.I just want to do the same thing with a listview.
Public Class myListboxItem Public id As String Public rootFolder As String[code]....
I forgot to add "Inherits ListViewItem" to my class.I'll update the code listed here to serve as an example for others.
A registeration sys using a Microsoft acres database I have a table named customer info to store customer details when registering and I need coding that will add the following to my table customer I'd , firstname, lastname , phonenumber and user also has to make selection between radio buttons male or female.
I am coding a program that will allow the user to input 5 payrolls for Store 1, Store 2, and Store 3. The total of the 5 payrolls are then added together and shown in the respective Store's labels. A total label is also there to add up all the totals into one number. The numbers in the label must be in currency form. My problem is the numbers don't add correctly when I hit calculate. The first two numbers add together, but then after that the number just seems to subtract a random amount.
So far I have this --
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Me.Close() End Sub
In VB.NET (Not ASP.NET) what can I use for a daily calendar. I have done extensive DuckDuckGo and Google search and I have came up with no viable options. The purpose of the calendar is to create a appointment system with multiple dentists therefore appointments also can run in parallel. However having it in parallel isn't required as I may have the end-use select what dentist the appointment is for (creating a appointment, therefore got to select a date/time).The project is only a university/college project therefore having it perfect isnt a requirement (but I'd prefer it). I'd use anything, otherwise I'm going to have to use a ListView.
I'm very unfamiliar with this, I've heard about running sql automated jobs, but how Can I run an aspx page daily?? Basically When the page loads up, it constructs an email and sends it out..
I want to run a procedure every day on 5PM.I made an application which in different thread runs a loop all the time, and on a specific time starts a procedure. The loop looks like that:
Private Sub Petla() Dim wykonany As Boolean = False Do[code].....
Application works fine, but the problem is that it use 50% of my processor all the time. How should it be done better?
my webbrowser navigates to a webpage. I need to store all the links into a collection, I did find the code to do the job (on this forum) and it works, but there is a problem: there are more links on the page than those the code reads, like when i right click on a picture and choose "copy shortcut" I get a link that is not showing when I display the "view source" for the entire page. I can't figure out how to do it.
