VB 2008 Check For Data And Make The Program Stay There Until The Data Is Input?

I have a program for school project that has input fields for Name, Address, City, State and Zip. I need to error check so that the fields are not empty.I have used If statements that check to see if the fields are empty and shows a message box if they are but if I leave the whole form empty and click the button that activates it, all the if statements go- one by one instead of pausing for the user to input the required data.How do I check for data and make the program stay there until the data is input? I have tried TRY/CATCH but it won't catch this type of error.

I need some help with the input validation of my application. Attached is the code that I have written as well as a screenshot of the front end. I specifically need input validation to verify that the user selected input for cbLengthOfStay is a number between 1-10 as well as input validation to verify the user input for txtMedication, txtSurgicalCharges, txtLabFees and txtRehabilitation is a positive numerical number. Well, in IE at the bottom right, the gray 5 fot looking things help you resize it down there, and stay there even after you maximize the window. When I make a form on VB and all, then maximize the window, it disappears on mine, but stays there every other time, except for while maximized, IE does it, so how do I make my program do it so it will stay there even when maximized? I have tried lengthy work-arounds and such, cause if its at correct size and location, and you maximize it stays, but I cant seem to find out when u maximize to over-ride it, so it'll work right.
I am using Visual Basic express to create a serial interface to a multi-room audio controller. I have started by creating a form that can connect to the controller and I can receive data from the Controller and display Zone status, volume etc in corresponding texts box thaks to help from Stanav and Tassa in my previous thread.
My next problem is to do with receiving lots of data from the serial port and my application getting out of sync. This is mainly caused by turning the volum control as each time it is turned a little bit the controller sends out the new status of the Zone being effected

I am working on an in house application. I am coding a simple application in vb .net. This applications takes a few inputs from user and calculates a result. Now I want to implement a simple functionality that user should be able to save the input and results just like most of the windows programs can in a new file format. And user should be able to open the save file when desired.
I know I can exit a program by using the End statement.
But i was wanting to know how to check to see if the data has been changed since it was loaded and bring up a diaglog box up saying the data has been changed or not saved, would you like to save the data before exiting?
I will have a form that will have a yes, no, and cancel buttons.

My picture box is in a panel. How to prevent lines created using graphics tool from getting erase when moving the picture box around? Sometimes when I minimize my form, the lines goes missing also.. How do I make the lines stay on the picture box? Example shown below in a gif...

Here is my problem: I have a DataGridView and I am adding a new row. In a particular cell, I have to check that the user does not enter existing values in the related table. That is, the value of that cell must be unique. If the user enters an existing value, the application must:
- Show error message
- Clean the cell

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now
