VS 2008 : Do Multiline Textboxes Have A Character Limit

May 6, 2009

Do multiline textboxes have a character limit?Someone who was using my program said that he has some textfiles that are about 50 KB and when he goes to copy/paste that data into a multiline textbox, he only gets about 31.9KB of the data.My MaxLength property says 32767, which basically matches the 31.9 KB, however, most of what I read on the internet says Multiline Textboxes can hold unlimited characters and that MaxLength is actually ignored when a textbox is in multiline mode.

Receive And Send Variables Between The Call Sign?

Oct 27, 2009

how to receive and send variables between the call sign:

Sub ...
call Getsub(t)
end sub
function Getsub(ByVal t as integer)
end function

I think I understand how to receive t. Now t will be able to use in the function. How do you send back a variable from the function without the use of textboxes (say variable, x) ? Secondly how do you do it for multiple variables?

I've been working with the substring command and after coding up all the things I needed it to do, I saw a post on here where the "For Each" statement was used basically to do the same thing.Lets say we just want to take a string apart one character at a time and add each character to a label. Which would be more efficient?I made a cheap example to show ...

Code:
ABinary = "0110 1100 0001 1011"

Set The Three Textboxes Text To Different Variables Using Only One Line Of Code?

Dec 18, 2010

1) Lets say I have three textboxes: TextBox1 TextBox2 and TextBox3.

Public Sub loopthing (ByVal input1, ByVal input2, ByVal input3)
For i = 1 To 3
TextBox(i).Text = input(i)[code]....

I know that the (i)-thing will not work, but my question is if it's possible somehow to set the three textboxes text to different variables using only one line of code (Like my attempt above).

2)How can I do so that when I click a tabpage on runtime, a certain textbox is highlighted and ready to write without a mouse-click?
I've tried the tabpage's GotFocus- and Enter-events, and writing

TextBox1.Select()

there, but it only works the first time I enter that spesific tabpage.

It may not get the same character, you could basically just call this encryption, but it's not what I am making. I don't want to waste my time doing this one hour while VB can do this for me in <1 second.

For Each ctl As Control In Me.Controls
If ctl.Text = "7777" Then
ctl.Text = "found the sevens"

VS 2008 - Take A String Of Variables With A Common Delimiter And Break It All Back Out Into Separate Variables

As long as the delimiter was a unique specifiable character, this one-statement command could break it out into elements. my memory and point me in the right direction.

Run-Time Databindings - Form With Many Different Textboxes

Jun 2, 2010

I have a form with many different textboxes on it. The form is used to Edit the data already in a databound table. At design time I set my Databindings.text to the appropriate columns.

During form load I check the values in the bound column for null values. If the column value is null, I set the textbox.text property to a descriptive prompt like "enter telephone #" or enter city. I also use databinding.remove to remove the databinding so that the desriptive prompts don't wind up in the database.

Here is the code I use to remove the databinding.

For Each Panels In Me.Controls

PBox = TryCast(Panels, Panel)

[CODE]...

.Tag2Defaultphase is a custom property I have defined which holds the default descriptive prompt. If the user enter a value into the textbox I then wish to add the bind back so that when I updateall with the tableadapter the value will be transferred back to the appropriate bound column.

Here is my code for that:

Sub perOptionalTBoxValidation(ByRef TBControl As custTextBoxControl, ByRef strDefaultTextPhrase As String, ByRef intMaxChars As Int32, ByRef bsBindingSource As BindingSource, ByRef strColumnName As String)

[CODE]...
