Unable To Detect Shutdown?
Jul 16, 2010I've been making a program and for it I need to be able to detect shutdown. I've been told to do vbAppWindows etc. but there's a problem. For some reason it says "vbAppWindows is not declared" Does anyone have another way of doing it?Then I've used my.settings throughout the program and it has just started to not work. It wont save anymore.

Sending Custom HEADER On BeforeNavigate2?
Aug 17, 2006im working on a kiosk machine with a web based interface (basically the application is just a browser with few added thingy for UI), one of the security that i was trying to implement is to allow that page to be viewed only from my application (which could be done by sending a custom HEADER and check it on the page), did asked the same question back in Dec 6 2003 post (vb6), and was able to make it work by using Navigate with the custom header, but this slows down the loading since itll have to be re-rendered each time i go to a page they say BeforeNavigate2 should do the trick sending the custom header on each page, but it isnt sending.

Getting A New Session In IE Using SHDocVw.InternetExplorer?
Jun 4, 2010We are using SHDocVw.InternetExplorer in VB.Net to navigate to a web page and insert the login credentials since we have to log into multiple accounts throughout the day. We want to be able to be logged into to multiple accounts in different windows at the same time, but I don't know how to get a new session started.If I log into account A, and then try to log into account B, it opens a new window but is automatically account A, since the browser remembers being logged in with that session.Is there a newSession or something similar that I can call that will get around this problem?
Edit: is this something can can be done using the Navigate function by setting a header?

Oct 29, 2010I noticed that the BeforeNavigate2, NavigateComplete2 and DocumentComplete events are not thrown by SHDocVw.InternetExplorer if the user clicks the Refresh button. I need to handle all of these events when our users navigate to various links.

Sep 22, 2010I need to temporarily hide the control in SHDocVw.InternetExplorer (IE8) that displays the contents of a web page. Setting the SHDocVw.InternetExplorer.Visible property causes the entire form to be hidden. I only need to temporarily hide the control that displays the web page (i.e., the control that is analogous to System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser in .Net). The Internet Explorer form and all other controls (including the tab that is associated with the web page) should remain visible.
My first thought is to iterate through all of the child controls of SHDocVw.InternetExplorer, search for the control that displays the web page and then set its Visible property, but I'm not sure how to do this because SHDocVw.InternetExplorer is a COM object.

Oct 8, 2010In an ideal world, we wouldn't need to educate our users about the "intricacies" of ZIP files One of my apps is a stand-alone-ish app that has no dependencies that need to be installed. Well, except for the Framework of course.So, in order to make the download smaller, I've zipped up the package. One of the functions of the app is to download some files into a subdirectory the application is located within. Well, some users don't unzip the package and as we all know, you can't just download some files into a ZIP file. I spent a good 20 minutes looking through my code and adjusting things to figure out why it wasn't working for one user, when I realized there were no issues in my code and that he probably wasn't unzipping the package.So, does anyone know of a method to determine if the directory my app is in, can be written to?I know I can just try writing a small file or something and catch the exception, but that seems... sloppy.

Jun 16, 2011I'm creating a basic text editing program that will be used for UCAS Personal Statements (probably not a unique idea but hey). It will be a basic text editor with no special text formatting to sit in line with the guidelines of UCAS (there is a character limit for personal statements).
What I want to do is have a save/load option (which is easy enough), however on the "Exit" function I want the program to detect text changes and alert the user that saving is recommended (ya know like when you close word and it asks if you want to save blah blah blah)

Apr 13, 2012I'd like you filter some results in a grid, and i want the user to be able to type a value into a textbox, and then the grid will be filtered by that value. I don't need help with the grid or how to populate it. My question is in regards to the textbox; How can i tell when the user has stopped typing so i can automatically load the grid? I thought about doing a refresh automatically in the TextChanged event, but that seems silly since the user could still be typing more characters.
