My problem is when i try to call Application.Run() in a application without a form i get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when i run it outside VS. but if ran in debug or release mode it works just fine. i may just be forgetting to setup application right, but ive done it before in this same manor and it worked fine.

Sub main() 'this runs first.
AddHandler Application.ApplicationExit, AddressOf ExitEventHandler

Commented out init_timer and init_ready, and now it causes the same error for the myName line. there seems to be something wrong with class Application. btw theres seems to be something wrong with the forum code formatting.

Getting A New Session In IE Using SHDocVw.InternetExplorer?

Jun 4, 2010

We are using SHDocVw.InternetExplorer in VB.Net to navigate to a web page and insert the login credentials since we have to log into multiple accounts throughout the day. We want to be able to be logged into to multiple accounts in different windows at the same time, but I don't know how to get a new session started. If I log into account A, and then try to log into account B, it opens a new window but is automatically account A, since the browser remembers being logged in with that session. Is there a newSession or something similar that I can call that will get around this problem?

Edit: is this something can can be done using the Navigate function by setting a header?

Hide Browser Control In SHDocVw.InternetExplorer?

Sep 22, 2010

I need to temporarily hide the control in SHDocVw.InternetExplorer (IE8) that displays the contents of a web page. Setting the SHDocVw.InternetExplorer.Visible property causes the entire form to be hidden. I only need to temporarily hide the control that displays the web page (i.e., the control that is analogous to System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser in .Net). The Internet Explorer form and all other controls (including the tab that is associated with the web page) should remain visible.

My first thought is to iterate through all of the child controls of SHDocVw.InternetExplorer, search for the control that displays the web page and then set its Visible property, but I'm not sure how to do this because SHDocVw.InternetExplorer is a COM object.

Windows - Access The My.Application Object From A Form Or Control Object?

Jul 6, 2011

I have a solution with several Projects in it. There is a Windows App project (called ImportClient), and a Class Library (Import.Library). The Import.Library has functions to perform data imports (I have other applications in the solution that also need to call it). But the interactive application, I want to be able to pass in some form controls, and have it update the GUI. No problem. But, I also want to execute a DoEvents() so that the loop execution doesn't hang other interaction to the app.

So, ImportClient has a reference to Import.Library. But I can't add a reference to ImportClient to the Import.Library, because the compiler complains about circular reference, etc. I don't know how else to define the My.Application object of ImportClient as a parameter to the data function in ImportLibrary.

(I realize this is a dumb question - problem is, for this project I have a tight timeline, and haven't learned how to do the BackgroundWorker process. If you think I could pick it up quickly, I'm open to some hints about how to update the progress bar on the GUI, and how to pause / cancel the background task.)

Put WebBrowser Object Into ASP.NET Page?

May 22, 2011

I have a program which opens up a webpage through a WebBrowser object in c#, and does a bunch of operations with it. Now I need to integrate this functionality into my own webpage.

That means that either I need to take the c# code, and somehow make it work in my webpage itself (put in a WebBrowser object, set up event handlers, etc), or I need to somehow have my webpage open this program on my server, fire an event to start, and receive input from it. It is very important for me to use a WebBrowser object (or even WebKit.Net) because there is a lot of javascript, etc on the page that needs to be processed.
