IDE :: VS Server Explorer Close Databases Connections While Debugging?
Jul 27, 2009Every time I execute my application and the app try to access the database I received an error message telling me that the user cannot login into the database. This is because the VS Server Explorer have the connection opened. What I need is that every time I debug (F5) my app the Server Explorer close the connection with the database so I do not have to stop the execution and manually close the connection. Is this is possible? Is there any way I can setup the debug or the Server Explorer to do this?

Mar 11, 2011I searched on google for these terms : "How to see all open connections in vb.net" and it should be for a server im running and it would be like to see witch users are connected (ip) and then if i type in the console -disconnect ip then the user will be disconnected from the server but is this technical posibble ?

Application Runs On Citrix Server But Not On Virtual Terminal Server
Sep 3, 2009An application loaded on a citrix server executes with no problem. When we try to run the same program files on a virtual server, we get silent errors and we do not even see the application window appear. Nov 11, 2010I have an application running with a access db. I have written some code to copy & zip the db file to another location (selected by the user) for the purpose of backup. (I am using sharpzipwrapper)Whenever I try to run the code for the copying & zipping it gives me an exception saying that the file cannot be zipped as it is use.Do I have to close all open connections in order to backup the .accdb file? Feb 19, 2010I have an application that will run on a terminal similar to a micros terminal. The terminal is already running another vendors app that captures the users logon ID from a swipecard. I need to capture the same logon ID at the same time. This is no problem, I just hook it.
The problem is I have another app which also captures swipes. In development I am running both apps for testing. It appears that when I unhook one app it unhooks both. Rehook and all is fine. As my two apps will never be on the same terminal this is not a problem. What I am concerned about is the vendors app unhooking mine or the other way around.
I would of thought that each app would have it's own ID and that each hook would be independent. I have considered finding a way to determine if a global hook is present and then use some logic to decide on unhooking or not but can't find anything.

Application Locks Up When Running In Terminal Server Session?
Sep 23, 2010I have a Windows Forms application created in VS2005 which runs fine on the user desktop but when running in Terminal Server session it frequently locks up when the remote desktop window is minimised and the user is working locally.There is plenty of RAM on the server so this is not an issue, the only solution so far has been to force the user session to log off on the Terminal Server and then reconnect.

Dec 22, 2011I have built an application in VB 2010 on my Windows 7 Pro desktop. I have a particular combo box with a datasource that is dynamically populated, depending on certain values entered by the user; it may or may not have any records in the datasource. When I run/install the application on my desktop, the combo box acts normal, if I click the dropdown button and the datasource contains no records, the combobox will show a single blank beneath the combobox (to indicate no records). When I perform the same action on server 2003, the combobox DOES NOT show a blank row, it does nothing! It act's like it's broken.

Mar 4, 2011In a program I'm working on, I want a "Loading..." dialog to close when it can't log in to a site using the username and password provided by the user. Basically, I have the code set up right because the function it is supposed to carry out when that occurs does work, but for some reason it ends up in some really weird stuff happening. In the Loading form, I have it set to do "Form1.Show()" and then "Me.Close()", assuming it would simply show the login form and then close the Loading form. However, when this happens, the Loading form closes, and then for only an instant Form1 shows, and then the Loading form shows and Form1 closes. This happens forever until I stop the debugging, and I can't seem to figure out why. Am I using the wrong method? What exactly does Me.Close() do anyways? All I want to do is close the form and open another

Sql Server - Reducing SQL Connections To Just 1 - ASP.net?
Feb 7, 2012I am currently working on an asp.net web page with a GridView displaying a table from a database.This GridView has 4 DropDownLists that will be used to filter the data shown on the GridView. When the page loads 4 Sub routines are run, each one connecting to the database with a select statement to fill the DropDownList with relevant filter headings.
Initially, I had one connection with a loop that populated all of the drop downs but these contained duplicates. I then split the filling of each DDL so that the select statements could contain DISTINCT. I would like (and am sure there is a way here) to be able to populate all of the DDLs with data from one connection.

Dec 18, 2009I have been developing an async socket connection server and client program. I have been testing it, and noticed that if I connect to the server from my client and then disconnect. Upon reconnecting I am on a different port(local IP still). This is fine, however when I go to send a message, and the server trys to update all the clients, it eventually hits clients that do not exist anymore. I get the SocketException 10054, and upon connecting/disconnecting enough, it no longer works at all. My question is how do I clear out these no longer useful sockets from the server? I am doing currentsocket.Shutdown(SocketShutDown.Both); and then a currentsocket.Close(); after that. When a user disconnects.

The database exists on the development server but the application lies on my localhost. Jun 28, 2010I am in the process of converting vb6 assemblies to VB.NET.I am trying to overcome a particular design challenge.I have a vb6 EXE sitting on a Terminal Server which is shared between multiple customers.Each customer has customizations in the form of overrides to this EXE in custom business logic contained within DLL's.We know what DLL to look at based on a setting in the database.We use the CreateObject ("CustomerDLLName.CustomerClass") method to create late bound objects.If the object is "not nothing", we check for override code.For example, if my base EXE has a sub called PrintForm, based on the logged in user I may use the base sub within the executable, or I may need to use the sub in a custom DLL:
