My accumulator (decTotalCredits) is not working properly and is resetting to zero with each entry. I am needing the accumulator to add in each user input until it hits 125. As it normally is, I'm sure it's something small.

This is for vb.net I've been working to develop a system which involves computation.What I've been trying to develop in my program is, I have a textbox where user will enter a numeric value,there is a button and a label below and in the first place the label should be set to zero. Everytime you enter a numeric value in the textbox and click the button it should add the value in the label and should save the value in the label so even if you exit the program whatever the last value displayed in the label should remain the same when run the program again,I believe it requires a database to save the value.Basically its like with payment system which saves the total amount of all payments made.
This is how should it works,say for example,if you will enter 1,2,3 it should save the sum value which is 6 in the label even if you close the program and when you run it again and enter another value it should add to the current value which is 6.
I am having some trouble with my program that I am doing. I am supposed to code the application so that it creates a report which I have done. Now the problem that I am having is I have to use an accumulator for the total sales amount in the access file. I am stuck on how to have it say "Total Sales:" and then have the accumulator with the ammount of $32000 next to it becuase I have to use the accumulator to total the sales.

Okay my assignment is to change a code up using two functions instead of a subprocedure to calculate total rainfall and avedrage rainfall and then to add a startover button to the application which not only clears all the labels but also clears the counter and accumulator. This is what I have gotten so far my functions do not work and I can get the labels cleared. I just can't get the counter and accumulator to reset back to zero

When I create a new object, it resets the total to zero, only adding the current value being passed to the function. I have tried to use a static variable, create a second variable to hold the old total while adding the new value. The base class holds the total value, while the sub class creates the new object that holds information. I am passing the new value to a function in the base class adding the new value to the total when each new record is created.

i am trying to teach myself vb (im only 14), and i'm not having a easy time. What im trying to do, i need a user to define a upper and lower bound of a range. From there i need to generate random numbers, a certan number of times, with in that range...this is my first problem.And then, i need to make counters to store/test all of these variables as even, odd, positive, negative and zero's ...that i need to append to a richtextbox to show how many of each. I'm using loop to read data from sql and then make some calculations then save it again to another table but when application loop for 3 or 4 times it's freeze but the job is done but if loop = 10 or more then it is freeze and hangup for long time .i need to learn how to make my application working better and never freeze and make application working with any count for loop without freeze .

I've actually gotten this program running on paper, BUT, when I try to write a code for it, it doesn't work . . . somewhat . . . When the user clicks the compute button, the total value of inventory is computed by multiplying the cost per item times the quantity of the item and then adds the result to the value in an accumulator variable.
So far this is what I've come up with:

The quantity and cost per item is suppose to multiply each row, but it only multiplies the first row.
I'm trying to use the Shell to have my application call an external application but its not working...I don't understand why. I get the following error: 'System.windows.shell' is a namespace and cannot be used as an expression!

So I have a form with a textbox1 thats supposed to enter in a set of keywords and then ebay will give you the"Instant suggestions" in return, but when I have my textbox1.text send the text over to the ebay form, ebay will not return any suggestions, unless I use the sendkeys.send method. Well, I do not like the sendkeys.send method because it's way too buggy &only works under the right conditions.Here's a pic of google instant and ebay does the same thing. i have few questions:
A) How do I create an application that works in the background where there is no instance of it visible at the screen.
B) How do Create application that will load right after windows you start windows?
Has this ever happened to anyone? It has happened to me and one of my customers in the past but I have no idea how he diagnosed it and it is happening with another one of my clients now. The application runs, but the HTTP requests do not. The application works 100% perfect on my own computer but not the customers. He has both the 1.1 and the 3.5 framework installed, and uses Vista (same as me). Can anyone shed some light on this situation because this is a huge huge huge problem that I would rather not have to worry about in the future with other clients.
View 6 RepliesI have win7 pro, on my win form is a traffic light icon(when it starts it is red, when finished it is green), so that I know when job is finished. But when I run application icon isn't changing and form hangs it self, can not do nothing until job is finished. Only in the end, I see that icon is quickly changes to red and then back to green.
View 1 RepliesI keep getting an error that says hte application has stopped working and Windows is searching for a solution. When I click to debug, it tries to start a new instance of VB, but then tells me that a debugger is already running. Why is this happening?
The error is a uncaught Win32 exception and occurs somewhere inside a thread that I create, but I have no idea where.
i tried updating my application on a vista home basic laptop. i get "myapp.exe has stopped working" then i restore back to the old version, it still give the same error. I am sure the old version is working because I tested it before updating it.

This desktop app written in VB.Net within VStudio 2008 fails when one of our "power users" tries to run the program: Select permission denied on object 'AcctLogon', database 'MDS', owner 'dbo'. The author of the app is out for a few weeks and I am the "fixer" while she's out. Both of our logins for SQL have permissions for db_owner in the MDS database but our user does not. The user has a Windows user login for this instance of SQL. This login has permissions for the public role only in the MDS database.

View 17 RepliesI am trying to get an application installed on a friends computer, written in VB 2008 Express. However, he continues to receive the Windows Application 1 stopped working message whenever he launches it.
He states that there are not any error details, and I am in a different state so I cannot even begin to diagnose the situation, so this is all I have to work with. Are there any suggestions where I can even begin to look that would cause this? He is on Win7. which is what I developed the app on. The program is pretty simple, and utlizes sql server r2. Any suggestions on some starting points to check? I have run it on 6 or 7 other computers with no problems.
i have developed windows application using VS 2005 to print PDF documents using third party software PDFCreator. This application is working fine in my system but when i try it another system its not working and there is no error thrown as well.

To do some testing with MPIR, GMP, the .Net Bigint module and other math libraries I've recently written a small program which allows me to create random sequences of numbers with a certain amount of precision: Always this amount of digits in front and behind the comma, no starting/ending zeroes. While it might not be the most elegant of code, it really blew my mind when I found out my application was running up to 10 times faster with Mono under Ubuntu 10.10.While the code is not elegant and in Basic, it was developed by me in about an hour's work and it serves the purpose: To generate dependable huge datasets consisting solely of preconfigured numbers before or after the comma. To get a general idea the UI's posted here:[code]Eliminating IO by not writing to IO but just to a List instead Eliminating an "if" path which checks if the random before/after float character is checked.Disabled progress reporting in general which causes the backgroundworker to not report any progress.Play around with the amount of symbols, theres very little difference between just getting 1 random character or getting 15 per record.I'm at a loss to what causes my program to run so slow under Windows/.Net compared to Ubuntu/Mono. I'm only a "half programmer", which means: I'm a Bussiness and ICT student who mainly focusses on human ICT, and the Microsoft Platforms certainly have lead on that, however such a huge performance hit compared to Linux for this soul and simple program really gives me a cold chill when it comes to my favourite platform.
