I have two forms. Form1 and Form2. The user is supposed to fill out some information in form2 which then will be used to compute some data in form1. However when I used the code, Form2.Show, within a function in form1, the form2 is diplayed but when the user fills the data and submits them using the ok button, the code does not return back to the function in Form1.

View 2 RepliesI was having a problem with the debugger not stopping at breakpoints. After a lot of work that yielded no results, I realized that the problem was occuring in the form's load event and subs called from that event.
The problem is that it appears that the load event is not being called. Other startup forms in other projects in the solution seem to be working ok.
what could be keeping the the Load event from working?
I have a form being called form several forms using ShowDialog().
1. Is there a way for called form to know which form called it by receiving a code or key from the calling form?
2. The calling form has a gridview. How can the called form pick up a column's value from the currently highlighted row in gridview in the calling form?
I have a form called FrmPracDetails which is built up with a List view called LvwColProc. Therefore when you click a field on the LvwColProc it takes you to another form called FrmColProcessing, here you can make changes to certain fields which are also present on FrmPracDetails. What I want to do is when you make changes on FrmColProcesing and Click the Save Button (which calls the Save function)the changes appear instantly on FrmPracDetails. Please note, FrmColProcessing will always be open next to FrmPracDetails. When I click on the control on the form it does nothing none of the code for this event gets triggered. If I click on the listbox inside the user control that .click event inside the control does trigger. How can I make the click event for the user control trigger when the control is clicked?

During my project I have suddenly lost my form design, all the designer code is still there but when I try and view the design layout it gives me an error saying 'navigation to webpage has been cancelled', does anyone know how to get around this extremely annoying bug ??

View 1 RepliesI have set up a form that will act as my parent (this hasnt been set up as an MDI).On this form I have a Panel that I will be loading forms into. I have a form that contains a DGV. On the load of the parent form, I then load this "child" form into the Panel. In the onLoad event of the "child" I go off to the database and populate my DGV. Then I run through the rows in the DGV and add in a logo image in the first column and change some cell colors based on values in those cells.
This all works great, however, when the child form finishes loading all the changes are lost. eg The logo images go back to the red cross and the cell coloring is gone.If I call Me.Refresh() in the child window as the last line in its Form_load event I can see the logo and cell colors update to what I want, but as soon as it has updated, its like it immediately refreshes again and all the changes are gone.
I added a few items in the combobox dropdown list at the form load event. [code] At the runtime I dont want to allow the user to write something in the combobox as a text.The user can only select an item from the dropdown list of the combobox.
View 13 RepliesI have created an app which has a timer control which, when activated and meets a certain criteria, launches a second form with an alert for the user to review and action. this works just fine. Except.... when the main app is minimised and has lost focus, instead of launching the second form to a normal windows state it opens and sits in a minimized state itself and just flashes. How can I get the the second form to restore to a normal windows state?I have tried form2.focus and tried the windowsstate=normal etc but I'm still barking up the wrong tree.
View 2 RepliesIn VB 2010 after working on a form in design mode which has a menustrip and the form is taller than the IDE [Design] window and not returning to the top of the window before running in debug mode, the menu is eliminated from the menubar on the running form when the controlbox is set to False for the form and I could not access the menu.After returning to design mode and scrolling to the top of the form and running debug, the menu returned.Is this a bug in the IDE or what?

I am having multiple forms with Find button provided. The forms i am having are Contacts.vb and Users.vb, i want to use single Find.vb form for both of these forms. I mean whether a user presses Find button from Contacts.vb or Users.vb the same form should be opened with corresponding data that is fetched from database. I tried using Find.Owner = Me from Users.vb but i don't know how can i determine from Find.vb that who is the owner. I tried to use that if owner of find form is Users.vb then fetch data from users table and if owner is Contacts.vb then fetch data from Contacts table. Unfortunately i am not able to perform this task.

I'm having an interesting issue that I can't reproduce on a different project, but can consistently on this one. I have no clue what might be causing it, but am hoping that someone may have seen it before.
I have a main form, from which I run a series of checks. On this form, I have a listview control. Because of some issues with the refreshing of this listview control, I had to create my own messagebox. It's just a form that displays some text ( it also happens to look nicer than MsgBox; in my opinion, anyways ). It's been working great for months, until recently.
My problem is that on my main form's load event, I run this check, which returns an error within a try/catch block. I then call my custom messagebox with a message. It in turns calls it's ShowDialog() function.
In any other situation ( after the main form has been loaded ), I have no problems. The messagebox goes on the screen and behaves appropriately ( ie: waits for my input and acts as a modal dialog ( stops execution of my main form's thread ) ). However, on this onload event, my messagebox comes up and goes away almost immediately afterwards.
I've traced it all the way to the showdialog() call. For no explicable reason, it appears to skip right over this call, without me doing anything on the form.
