I would like to know if it is possible to make my application be able to save the file as the current date. the idea is to have it where the staff login to the application and the application opens the file with the current day.
This means that in the morning before staff open the program the office staff can put up the information, i.e. like briefing sheet, daily notes. etc
Using VS2005. The code below saves a datagrid (datagridview1) to XML file and works well. But if newPat is true then I want to save the extra data in the XML file as well. But it doesn't work for some reason. When newPat is true it just saves the XML file as normal but without the extra row.
It seems this code is not working what so ever. I tried replacing dr("patientName") = gridrow.Cells("patientName").Value with dr("patientName") = "test" And it didn't work, it still saved the names that were in the grid.
newPat = true For Each gridrow In DataGridView1.Rows Dim dr As DataRow [Code] .....
I'm currently working on a program to store files and information. I'm wanting the program to be able to have multi-user logins i.e. there are numerous combinations of usernames and Passwords. I've created a program that will create new accounts and save them in a .bin file (in the form Username Password). However, now I need to use the user accounts to grant access to a form.
Currently, I've encountered a problem where I do not how I can store the variable of my battery level in a text file. I tried .xml and .txt file and it returns me text which can't be read. The code related:
vb.net [code]Dim psBattery As PowerStatus = SystemInformation.PowerStatus Dim perFull As Single = psBattery.BatteryLifePercent
[code]....
The place where I do not know what to insert is the "Insert Battery Percentage Here" part so I guess that's the problem. For your info, if you were to use a MsgBox to display, the code which displays that would be <MsgBox("Total battery power remaining: " & perFull * 100 & "%")>
Currently I am saving data from my applications by saving a text file via a stream reader as a string. I have come to a problem. In my current application, I have an array of the following structure:
I have a DatagridView which displays the following: IDNo, SubjectName, FirstName,MI, LastName, YearLevel, Address, Gender. I want to save whatever is displayed in it to my database...My code below does not save the SubjectName all the rest are saved.

I have a table in SQL Server with a field defined as Varbinary (MAX). In VB I am trying to save an image to the table. The file I'm using is 139kB in size and I get no errors but when I look at the record, the Attachment column where my image stream should be is empty. The rest of the information is saved. I checked the buffer and it grabs the correct size of the file (141475) so I'm very sure it's found and loaded the image.
Could the parameter from the SQL not be passing the binary value to the parameter properly?
I am trying to learn XML, for which i have created a simple Employees Program. I want to save the records of the employee in an xml file, so far i have the following code:
vb Private Sub SaveRecord(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Dim XMLSettings As New XmlWriterSettings XMLSettings.Indent = True XMLSettings.IndentChars = " " XMLSettings.NewLineOnAttributes = True [Code] .....
This is only working for a single record, How should I insert more employees records within this xml file?
I am doing a project for part of my coursework which involves the creation of a series circuit designer.
I am having some trouble with the saving and loading functions; I had intended to save them to a text file with commas separating the component name and the value (if any) attributed with it.
Grid(xcoord, ycoord, 0) contains the component name. Grid(xcoord, ycoord, 1) contains the attached value (resistance or voltage- components such as wires have a value here of 0)
Once the save button is pressed, the text file contains 50 rows of "0".
P.S. Let me know if any other parts of my program are required.
Dim comp(maxsize) as ccircuits[globally declared] Const maxsize = 50 Structure ccircuits
i have invoice form separated into 2 parts the upper part is master (header) and detail (body) in invoices where header contains date, name, invoice number, etc ..and the lower part is the body contains the datagridview with its details like the item name or code, qty, price, discount, etc the problem is i want to save the invoice headers in a table and the body in another different table but with a realtion between the 2 of them by the invoice id i think i put it in the invoices' form load. but i cant get it right so if any one have an example by code 2 solve this prob ,

I'm using VS2005 and VB.NET 2005 for my work. I need to create charts and to convert them into images. I'm desperately trying to save MSChart in BMP (or JPEG, I don't care).
I tried to copy the MSChart in the clipboard but I have an error :
VB MSChart1.EditCopy() 'Copy in the clipboard If Clipboard.ContainsImage() Then
[Code].....
I know it's a known problem (there are tons of questions about that on the web) but I can't use a newer version of VB... =/
In an VB2008 application an email can be saved in a SQL 2005 database. The date, time and subject are saved in SQL. Let's say the receiving time of an email is 12:56:55. After saving the values in SQL a SELECT of the SQL table gives me a time of 13:56:55. From this result I conclude SQL is saving a time value differently. - Is this difference come from the time zone? - Is this difference come from the daylight saving? - Is this difference come from both? How can I easily compare these two values?
now the remaining things are done-able but im stuck in new requirement posted by Client which he needs to upload all images from Sql Server to Oracle Database now since old application stores images Path it is kind of new story now ?(:

I have a datagridview control. I want to save the rows and then restore them the next time I run the program.
How do I write the rows out to an XML file?
I know how to fill the rows from an XML file. But when I've done so I can't add any more rows. It gives the following exception when I try: Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound. What can I do about this?
Or is there an easier way to save and restore the rows?

A query concerning opening and saving a file.i have two commands, one the opens and another that saves [the same file].i'm using the StreamReader and StreamWriter methods.issue is this:if i comment out the open code, the save works fine.if i comment out the save code, the open works fine.if i let both run together, i get an error, usually with the save saying that the file could not be accessed. note, before anyone asks, i do close the file after saving or opening what could be the problem? open works fine, because it usually happens prior to the save, and then save process cannot access the file..?
Can you please help me with the checkboxes in the listview. I want to save the settings of the checkbox when I tick and untick them in the listview, e.g tick and untick the checkboxes and save the subitems text in the label text.So I can read the settings from the label and split it to read each text.Do you know how i can save the checkbox settings before I can read the subitems text when I click on the button?
I would like to enable my app to run from a central database, but I dont want to recompile should the DB server change. Are my only two options saving the connection string to an XML file or the registry?
If so I think the XML file will probably be the way I go at least for me. I dont really want to mess with the registry. I just wanted to check what my options are.
I am creating a shell for a FORTRAN application which reads a tab delimited text file.Because I am using Excel to manipulate data, is it possible to use the Excel Automation features to "save as" a tab delimited text file? The only method available seems to be a unicode text format, which does not work. Or is there another format that mimics tab delimited so that the FORTRAN application will read such a file without difficulty?
I have an asp page with vb.net code that will query a database and present the user with the number of records that exist that need to be exported along with a button to export them. After you push the export button, it will prompt for a location and filename. But after that, it will not refresh the page with the new counts that now exist. Or in this case update the count to zero for the button they clicked. [Code] So how can I tell the page to refresh with the new counts. It almost seems like I need to tell the process to wait until after the user has finished finding the location and saving the file but I don't want to add a generic threading.thread.sleep in, I want it to only wait until they are done and then refresh the page.
Currently the reports are saved as a html file called report1.html, id like to make the user enter a name for the HTML file upon clicking submit.
