I've implemented the localization in my windows application with no problem for the label or command button which have a fixed text.
My problem is related to the label which text is merged with some variables or object properties.
E.g.: vb label1.text = "There are " & myDataGridView.Rows.Count.ToString() & " items"
So, how can I set (if it's possible) the localization for these labels? I've this kind of assignment in modules and not in the form. It's possible to set a resources file also for modules?
Is there a Vertical progress bar that will step by 0.01
View 7 RepliesI have been using vb6 for a while, I am following a tutorial by MS to develop a basic application and a simple task cannot be completed for whatever reasons! The tutorial asks to drag the label object from the toolbox and drop in the tab control container. Then, go to the label size property and adjust the size to some different dimansion. Basic stuff, right? It won't let me do it! After I enter the new dimensions (which by the way are not large or very small), the label size (both width and height) resets back to its original dimensions! I have the vb.net sp1 installed.
View 2 Repliesi am trying to figure out how to go about finding this window's label when the control name is the same as all the other labels on the program.[code]All 3 labels are named the same. The one i am most interested in is a progress % counter (1%, 2%, 3%, etc..)How can i get the value (using a timer of course) from that label without knowing the caption of it at any given time??

View 1 RepliesI have a button that when click will execute Label.Text = 'This is a sample Text'. Obviously, this happens in less than one second. I like this event to complete in one minute and while waiting it will show a progress bar. Is there such a thing? Or any workaround?
View 8 RepliesI'm converting an application from VB6 to VB.NET, and am required to declare and initialise some controls in code (control arrays). I have it declared globally, so other forms can access the data stored within them, and then I try to manipulate them inside the Form_Load() sub:
Public lblDataZone() As Label
Private Sub Form_Load() Handles Me.Load
lblDataZone(0) = New Label

The error I get says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I feel like I'm missing something huge here, but what's wrong with it?
i have got a object of attribute and i want to know what is its node name (who contain this attribut).

I'm an intermediate student taking on a monopoly game for a summative project. I decided to simulate the game monopoly. The rules are the same as the board game, so the idea is that each "property" or board piece is a button. I will have variables for the players position and player totals. To indicate an owned property, I'll change the buttons to flatstyle and use the bordercolor property.
To indicate the player position, I change the text on the button to include "Player: " etc. The trouble I'm having is that each button is named based on position, followed by the name. ie: "btn1Start", "btn2BalticAvenue", so on and so forth. Now, once I roll the two die and gather random integers, I add the total to the player position. Now what I want to do is find the button that the position corresponds to.
Private Sub turn(ByRef playerPosition As Integer)
Dim die1 As Integer = Int(6 * Rnd() + 1)
Dim die2 As Integer = Int(6 * Rnd() + 1)
playerPosition += die1 + die2
Dim button1 As Button = ?
I've tried various methods. Me.Controls.Contains("btn" & Position) is a boolean, so I can't make an object control class equal to that. Me.Controls.Find requires an exact name, so I can't do Me.Controls.Find("btn" & Position) because it needs the full name - each property has something else added on to the name (eg "BalticAvenue"). I want to set the button equal to the specific button based on the turn position, so I can update the text to include the player and allow him/her to initiate the property's effect (buy/pay rent/or chance cards).
Everything I read points me that I'm writing the following code correct, but VS keeps telling me : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

View 1 RepliesI have an existing invoice module that displays its items in datagridview. The datagridview also contains DataGridViewComboBoxColumn. The problem with the datagridviewcomboboxcolumn is that it has too many records which results to performance problems. And the datagridview itself poses some performance problems dealing with the data.
An idea is playing in my mind to redesign the module, and i want to ask some of your suggestions on other alternatives for datagridview that can display and handle many records at the same time and can handle each row that has datagridviewcomboboxcolumn with also many records.To illustrate concretely, the datagridviewcomboboxcolumn contains the Product Items and the datagridview itself contains records and details such as quantity, rate, total amount of the product item selected.
I would like to get a progress bar to actually follow the work being done in my application. In other words I load application and then the user loads a database by clicking file open etc... I would like to have a progress bar run until the data file and all text and labels are completely loaded Is that following a thread? forgive me if I am way off, still learning

Dim version as String= String.Format("Version {0}", My.Application.Info.Version.ToString)
