VS 2005 - Localization In Windows Application - Label Which Text Is Merged With Some Variables Or Object Properties

I've implemented the localization in my windows application with no problem for the label or command button which have a fixed text.
My problem is related to the label which text is merged with some variables or object properties.
E.g.: vb label1.text = "There are " & myDataGridView.Rows.Count.ToString() & " items"
So, how can I set (if it's possible) the localization for these labels? I've this kind of assignment in modules and not in the form. It's possible to set a resources file also for modules?

I am writting a VB .net (3.5) applivcation which references a COM object. I can call methods on the COM object fine provided that they don't require any variables to be passed. I have been told that you can only pass a maximum of one varaible to a COM object, I really don't believe that it true

I have an xml document on the internet right. Lets say it contains:
<tag>goose</tag>
What I want to do, is when the user clicks a button in my vb form it looks for the "tag" tag and finds the text inside the tags which is goose. Then it sets a label to equal goose, or whats in those tags.

I dragged and dropped a label from the toolbox onto a form (Label6) and stupidly went to the properties window and set "Text" to blank. Label6 shows when the program is run using F5 but does not show on the design surface if I want to move or remove it. How do I get it back onto the design surface or remove it completely?

I'm trying to obtain the Terminal Services Profile Path for a user using VB.Net and the System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher. I am able to get the user object's first name, last name, city, state, zip, etc. However, there is one property that eludes me. I cannot manage to find a way to get the terminalservicesprofilepath property.This is how I did it in VB6 and it worked perfect:

I have a solution with several Projects in it. There is a Windows App project (called ImportClient), and a Class Library (Import.Library). The Import.Library has functions to perform data imports (I have other applications in the solution that also need to call it). But the interactive application, I want to be able to pass in some form controls, and have it update the GUI. No problem. But, I also want to execute a DoEvents() so that the loop execution doesn't hang other interaction to the app.
So, ImportClient has a reference to Import.Library. But I can't add a reference to ImportClient to the Import.Library, because the compiler complains about circular reference, etc. I don't know how else to define the My.Application object of ImportClient as a parameter to the data function in ImportLibrary.
(I realize this is a dumb question - problem is, for this project I have a tight timeline, and haven't learned how to do the BackgroundWorker process. If you think I could pick it up quickly, I'm open to some hints about how to update the progress bar on the GUI, and how to pause / cancel the background task.)

For a reason I cannot explain, I now get compiler errors from the Application Designer whenever I enable the application framework in the VB.net IDE. I do not find much on this issue, except Scott Hanselman's admonition not to use this feature. I have mature projects in which this feature was enabled, but now even they will not compile.As this only began a few days ago, I have been trying various approaches to resolving the problem, up to and including removing VS2005 and reinstalling it, along with the framework, SDK, and all updates. No dice. The errors are below.This condition will occur even if I enable the feature in a new project.Does anyone have some thoughts and the cause and resolution of this problem?I probably should mention that I was using both VS2005 and VS2008 on this computer. I had been experimenting with 2008 for several weeks without incident.

I am trying to add a splash screen to my app and when I go into project properties the windows application framwork properties are disabled so a cannot set my form as a splash screen. The checkbox for enable application properties is also disabled so I cannot check it.

I try to create a localization of my application. I tried 2 versions:
1.http:[url].... but when I am changing in the combobox the language, nothing is happen.
2. the example from the Training Kit of the MCTS Exam 70-511: Windows applications development with Microsoft .net framework 4. The example works, but the problem is that I want to change the language in the current form not in another.
Also I meet next problem. In my form I have many components: labels, charts, calendar etc. When I select for example German from the combobox, the header of the calendar is changed but all other components are the same, you can not see anything changed.I checked the resources, but them are ok. I tried also to use me.refresh(), but it was useless.

I'm working on a Hazardous Materials label printing program. One of the options is to do an "NFPA" label. Since there are 4 values required with 4 or 6 options, the ratings are entered via radio buttons in a group box. That's working okay. I display values in the NFPA diamond as they're entered: left quadrant blue, top quadrant red, left yellow, bottom red. I'm having trouble with the label in which the rating will be displayed on top of a jpg diamond for the white. In this quadrant the text can be up to 4 characters. I can accept the text going into an adjacent block a little, but the corners of the label overlap into another quadrant/color. I reduced the font size which solved the overlap problem but the font is then too small and looks terrible. I tried to make the background of the label transparent to let the color come through correctly but that's not a valid value for label.background. I'm figuring that the transparent background is the best solution. What can I use that will accept a transparent background so the color shows through?
I'm trying to set the transparent property via label properties properties, not via code. Here's the code if it makes any difference:

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class

Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. I have a question abour string type resources and hope this is the proper place to ask it.I know how to create a string (type) resource file. I also know how one localizes this file by adding the appropriate language abbreviation (i.e., es, en, etc.) after the name of the file (i.e., str_resource.es.resource).None of this is terribly difficult. However, I haven't been able to fine how to do what I want to do.
Specifically, because I have an enormous number of strings (button labels, labels, registry strings [key_names and values, etc.), error messages and such) I would like to create multiple string resource files - one for each of these items. For example:

I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click.What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.

I'm working on a project, where the localization is mostly done using resourcefiles/cultures. If a translation does not exist for the language, the default language is used.I recently received the task of reviewing some problems with the translation. Some text is in the default language, some not. Why it has not been translated is not always obvious, as there are cases when the resource files are not used, or have not been translated. I would love to be able to see what is the case without having to check the code.

I currently have a simple crystal reports application which generates a crystal report and in the built in viewer provided by VS2005. There is a drop down where you can select options to change the criteria of the report. I wish to convert this app to a windows executable which will take all those select options and generates pdfs based on the crystal report. the executable will be triggered by windows task scheduler...or maybe command line app?
Obviously this will be somewhat of a re-write. What would be the best way to start this as? a crystal report application or a windows application.

I've been tasked to create one automation program that needs to read SysListview32, Listbox and Label content of another application [this was written by previous employee, but the source code didn't preserve]. I have a VB.Net Windows Forms application that incorporates the WebBrowser object.I want to place the input focus/cursor in a textbox after successfully loading a PDF document in the WebBrowser via the Navigate method.I tried to set the focus (TextBox1.Focus) in the DocumentCompleted event handler, but that failed.Or, I should say that the focus does not stay in the textbox.It appears that all processing initiated by the Navigate method is not complete even when the DocumentCompleted event is fired.And, as a result, the input focus is being moved from the textbox for some reason.
I now set the input focus in the ProgressChanged event handler when the CurrentProgress and MaximumProgress event agruments both have values of zero.This is successful, but I want to be sure that I can rely on the values of the event arguments.After I use the Navigate method, the ProgressChanged event is fired 4 times with the following CurrentProgress and MaximumProgress event argument values: 0 of 10000, 10000 of 10000, 10000 of 10000 (again), and finally 0 of 0.Can I confidently rely on a ProgressChanged event at the absolute end of a successful WebBrowser navigation that has CurrentProgress and MaximumProgress both set to 0?

I have come across to develop an application for Windows 7.My program has one setting file and one LogFiles folder under the same folder as EXE. User will change some setting from Program and the values will update in this file. If there is an error, error detail will log in Logfiles/ todaydate.txt file.(Later I discovered/learnt that I should not edit/write the files to Program Files/sub folders.)So, now I'm trying to move these two files to another location. After searching a few on Net and I got the following result.[code]When I make Setup project for my application, I have to put the Setting file under one of these location.And what I found was, I only has a choice of "User's Application Data Folder" which is equivalent to My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.CurrentUserApplicationData.If i put Setting.ini file under this folder in Setup project, it gave me an warning of "File 'Setting.ini' should not be installed into a User's Profile folder because it may not be available to all users."

I have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.
