VS 2005 Get Information Using Stored Procedure And Adding All Items To A Combobox

Nov 28, 2009

I am not sure what I am doing with this and need some direction. I have attempted to create a stored procedure in SQL Server 2005 called proc_GetPrefixes with the following content

USE [CRM]
GO
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[proc_GetPrefixes]

The stored procedure is supposed to get all the records and what I want to do with the result set is to add all the items to a combobox. I have started off with the following and not sure where to go with this:

C# - Getting Stored Procedure Information From .Net?

Apr 7, 2010

I am trying to get some data relevant to a stored procedure (or funtion) back from a database using .Net. The first thing I need to be able to do, is get the stored proc from the database and turn it into string format. The information I need is: The return set of columns, tables used within the SP, Stored Procedures called from the SP. The only way of doing this at the moment that i can think of, is though parsing the text and looking for keyword matches.

ASP.NET: Retrieve Information From SQL Server Via Stored Procedure?

Jun 3, 2012

Created an XSD file that represents my table structure from my database. Created a class file to hold my functions such as the one below.

Code sample:

Public Function GetUser(ByVal UserID As String) As xsdUser.UserDataTable
Dim SqlConn As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("MyDatabase").ConnectionString)

[Code]....

Now it seems odd to me to have two files doing what should be contained within just one file. I feel like I should have one class file called "User" and have member variables in there along with the class functions like the one above. But all the tutorials I see are using these data tables. On top of that I'm not sure how to handle the if statement at the end of the function. I don't think I would want to return a whole DataTable since I should only have one row, and I also don't know how I would handle an error if my function is supposed to return a data table. I suppose I could return an empty one and then if the table is empty in my code then I would handle it there, but this also seems messy.

Is this the common way of retrieving information from a stored procedure? Or is there a more up-to-date method that I'm not seeing in my search results?

However, at the moment in my sp I have three I parameters, in the case of the user selecting one item from the list not enough arguments will have been passed to the procedure. SQL Server SELECT Stored Procedure According To Combobox.selectedvalue?

Apr 12, 2010

In order to fill a datagridview according to the selectedvalue of a combobox I've tried creating a stored procedure. However, as I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing, depending on the WHERE statement at the end of my stored procedure, it either returns everything within the table or nothing at all. This is what's in my class:

Public Function GetAankoopDetails(ByRef DisplayMember As String, ByRef ValueMember As String) As DataTable
DisplayMember = "AankoopDetailsID"
ValueMember = "AankoopDetailsID"[code]....

guess it's down to the WHERE part of the stored procedure, but I need a way to pass the selectedvalue of the combobox into the @AankoopID parameter.

VS 2005 - How To Access Stored Procedure Data

Jul 7, 2009

I wish to create a stored procedure with multiple select statements. In addition, I then want to access each of the statements on the page load event. The purpose of the statements is to create multiple 'counts', and a number of labels on the page will each contain an individual returned count. At the moment I have created a basic stored procedure with two select statements:

CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[Finance_CustomerCount]
AS SELECT COUNT(Quote_ID) AS Count1 FROM dbo.generatedquotes WHERE (status = 2)
AND (Contract_End_Date >= GETDATE()) OR (status = 4) OR (status = 7) OR (status = 1)
SELECT COUNT(invoice_id) AS Count2 FROM dbo.invoices GROUP BY invoice_open HAVING (invoice_open = 'Y')
RETURN

I can then access the result of the first select statement by using this code:
Dim newconn As String = Session("ConnectionString")
Dim connection As New Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(newconn)
Dim MyCommand As Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand = New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("Finance_CustomerCount", Connection)
[Code] ....

So what I basically need to know is, how do I access the second select statement result set for another label.

Sql - Getting Parameter For A Stored Procedure Inside Another Stored Procedure

Aug 29, 2011

I have a stored procedure to update a table, but needs a couple of values from another table.

the first two selects get the value from the table and then are used in the update statement.

The select statments:

Select @iStatusDropDownValueID = iDropDownValueID
From DropDownValue
Inner Join DropDownValueType On DropDownValue.iDropDownValueTypeID =

[Code].....

First, the values that are retrieved by the first two select statements are always the same. So they could be passed in by the code itself. I don't know that this will speed things up at all, just make the entire stored procedure better and easier to read.

Second, if the "Value Name" should change this store procedure will break (which is possible, but not often).

I am looking for any insight into the Best Practices for this situation.

Adding To Listbox Items With Out Text Files Or Databases To Retreive Any Information?

Mar 12, 2011

Several times av been come across of the need of how to create new variables on my application while is running and the next time i will run again the application to be existed in my source code and still be inside.

what excatly i mean is for example i have a listbox with out assigne it in any databound ,or retreive any items from any textbox i just want to insert some items inside

if i go from the designer then i can succesfully add any item i want and they will be there as i declare them.but if i want to to that programmatically i will be able to add them in the listbox but the next time i will run it again it will be lost.until i will select the command again to fill my listbox which is not what i want

in my case i have a datagridview which is running SQL querys and i want if the user selects to save this query i want from some way to save this query string in my listbox . and i want to be there the next time i will run my application with out using any text file or database,

is there any way to that ? i have search before i ask but obviusly my keywords dosen't much with what i was looking for

Adding Items To A Combobox?

In VB.Net for an ASP project I was able to do the following:

Dim Item As ListItem While DataReader.Read Item = New ListItem Item.Text = DataReader.Item("CustomerName").ToString Item.Value = DataReader.Item("CustomerNumber").ToString Me.lstCustomers.Items.Add(Item) End While

However in a VB.Net Windows Project it won't let me duplicate this.

I need to display the CustomerName but return the CustomerNumber of the selected customer

I am also adding the items in code because they are changing based on changing values.
