I was rooting around in one of our company apps which is done in VB.net. I'm not familiar with VB.net (I do stuff in C#) so I'm asking this question: Does the code after the clean up comment execute? [code]It is my understanding once you say return, you give the calling function control again.

I'm implementing an application using vb.net 2005 with oracle 10g and I came across a functionality that should Select/Insert/Update/Delete data from three different tables in oracle. So I`m wondering if there is a way to prepare all the 3 commands (SQL Statements) separately and then execute them in one shot to the oracle, so in this way I can guarantee that all of them are successfully executed or all are failed to execute, and also I could gain more performance which is critical in my case. Thus I`m looking for a syntax in vb.net that helps me execute more than one OracleCommand in one shot to the oracle.

We have a VB6 program that uses an ADODB.Connection to establish a database connection and use its execute function to run SQL statements. The connection we have established is to a SQL Server. It has been working fine. Currently, I am trying to change the connection to a MySQL database. I changed the connection string and the connection is ok.
However, when it comes to running the execute function, it returns a runtime error 3246 - connection object cannot be explicitly closed while in a transaction.
I checked the connection.status before calling execute and found that it is open. When I use MySQL's server connections to check the status, I found that there was a connection before and after execute was called.
I encountered this same error whether I used MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver or MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver.

I have a piece of code in my application that is giving me a funny result. I am reading a text file and based on it's first word on the line I have a bunch of IF statements that then assign the value to a variable.
The problem is that not all the if statements are being met, well they are but that's what's weird.

if i have a text file that reads
gsf
hot
dmg
bp
comp
how can i pull it into an array and if the textbox = any of the lines then execute event something like this
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
If Me.textbox1.text = (textfile contents) then
timer1.interval = 500
[code]....
im just not sure on how to initiate the calling of the text file into an array.or if i could call lines from a richtextbox and if textbox1.text = a line in the rtb then execute. I guess what ever would be simpler.

Currently, I've used System.IO.StreamWriter to write items to a text file. However, what I have are items separated by a Writeline(). Meaning, the items are displayed in several rows, in a column. But what I want is a single row, with many columns, separated by commas for each item. Example of what I want: 16/8/2010,100,you
vb.net

I'm trying to execute a cmd file with a different user but what I have isn't working the log in returns true but the command doesn't run
vb
Dim iu As New ImpersonateUser
' Note: This user must be the user that installed ReaConverter Pro otherwise each image
' will be stampted with a ReaConverter logo. This is a limitation of the evaluation/trial version.
' impersonateValidUser(username, domain, password)
[code]....
If I remove the impersonation stuff the command executes but my images are stamped with the coversion tools logo which is a limitation of the trial version. The image conversion tool needs to be run by the user that installed and registered it. I'm confident that the impersonation works as I use this class to copy files accross the network in other areas of my applicaiton.
The command file is also okay because if I manually run the command file (ReaConvertFile.cmd) the image file is converted.I know that the licence is installed correctly because if I log into the server as the relevant user and run the conversion tool manually (through the GUI or manually execute the .cmd file) the files convert and are not stamped with the conversion tools logo.I think something is missing the correct permissions? I tried giving my user full control of ...system32cmd.exe but that didn't help?

In classic ASP (VBscript), I always had simple include files (broken into relevant sets) that stored all my dim statements, so I could never reuse a variable accidentally. How can I achieve this in VB.NET? I don't really want to be filling several lines per .vb file with the same set of variable declarations if I can get away with just one class file or something simlar.

I have text in a textbox that I want to write to a file. I'm trying to think of the best way to do this. Would reading the text into a buffer, then writing the buffer to a file be the best approach? I'm sure there's more than one way of doing this and I wanted to see if anyone had any input on the most efficient way.

I am writing an app that writes notes, inserted by the user, to a txt file. The app saves that notes to a txt file, and when opening it reads the file and shows the already inserted notes. However, I want the user to be able to delete some of those notes...but I can't seem to do it...this is what I have:
VB
Dim file As New FileStream(data_path & "notes.txt", FileMode.Open)
Dim text As String = Nothing
Dim reader As New StreamReader(file)
[Code]....
It goes fine, but the text.Replace(value, "") line doesn't seem to work. I've also tried text.Remove(0) but it doesn't removes the line...it looks like it has no effect.
