I use vb2008, and here is what i have: Dim strUser As String = My.User.Name This works but retrieve the info in this format: ('Computer Name'/'Username') Is there any way to code the program to get rid of the first part of My.User.Name (the 'Computer Name' part)? Is there a "best practices" way to parse a rich-text string (which contains the content of a several page document) so that I can identify the "start of a sentence"?The task at hand is this: basically, after making replacements in the text (substituting "markers" with actual data values), I then need to go back and see if any of the replacement data occurred at the start of a sentence, ensure that the first letter of that replacement is capitalized.
I can certainly find occurrences of sentences within paragraphs (i.e. a period followed by one or more spaces), but it is identifying the sentences at the start of paragraphs that would be the main challenge.In looking at the rich-text string in Notepad, I see that a paragraphs start with "par", but there are many variations, depending on other formatting, etc.

sol() is a global variable that contains the characteristics of our 14 computers (in our own format, lol) which we then compare to the users input (via combobox). With "ordi" we "format" the choise of the user to match our format. then the grand comparing begins... the first for-loop should select the computers which fit best but we don't know how to "skip" that computer if the comparison doesn't fit (after all, we still want to use that computer for a second or third choise!). After that the next for-loop should pick the best fitting computer as no.1 (going from top priority down).

I am developing a computer application designed to monitor the network and CPU statistics on a computer remotely. The monitored computer would have my program installed and the monitoring computer would display, in a form, the information being sent from the remote client.The application does not send any information regarding packets, user names, passwords, etc. It is solely meant for monitoring CPU performance and Network resources remotely.
What would be the best method to send this information over to my host machine?I am programing in Visual Studio 2008 on windows XP. The client machine is also XP. I know this sounds a little shady, but it is required for my little business (http://www.iquorum.net) to monitor what and when something happens on our machines when I and my employees are away.
