if you want to manually check that computer's status, simply right click on
my computer and then select properties, then select computer name tab.
now you can see the computer is in domain or in workgroup.

VS 2005 Installing App On Another Domain?
Nov 8, 2010I have an app that I've developed that has a vb.net front end and a SQL Server 2000 database backend. I currently have it running fine on my machine and it also installs fine on all the users that are inside the domain that the app was written in. When I try to install my application on another domain it hangs and doesn't even run the install script.
Has anyone ever experienced problems installing an app accross domains?
Is there something that I need to code differently to make it non-domain specific?

Oct 28, 2010I'm working on an auto-configure app for new PC's. I managed to programatically set all the needed parameters, except Primary DNS Suffix of a computer (please remember that this is different from the network connection default DNS suffix).
Update: Here's requested class for setting IP, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS of the PC.[URL]..It was tested only in system having 1 network interface, I don't know how it'll behave when there are more NICs. Oh, and it's WIP, so for now no error handling apart from throwing exception was implemented.

sol() is a global variable that contains the characteristics of our 14 computers (in our own format, lol) which we then compare to the users input (via combobox). With "ordi" we "format" the choise of the user to match our format. then the grand comparing begins... the first for-loop should select the computers which fit best but we don't know how to "skip" that computer if the comparison doesn't fit (after all, we still want to use that computer for a second or third choise!). After that the next for-loop should pick the best fitting computer as no.1 (going from top priority down).
